Watch the Audi RS E-Tron GT, Porsche Taycan, and the Tesla Model S Go Up Against Each Other On A Drag Strip

There was no clear winner as all the three EVs, the Audi RS E-Tron GT, the Tesla Model S, and the Porsche Taycan, had their moments to shine

LISTEN 02:32

The Tesla Model S has been obliterating other cars on the drag strips for years now. But, can it beat two of the hottest EVs as well? The folks at Carwow brought the Model S in its Performance avatar to the drag strip to take on the German duo of Audi E-Tron GT and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. The Germans are priced significantly higher than the Tesla Model S. But does that mean they are also quicker, faster, and more powerful?

The Audi RS E-Tron GT comes with a dual-motor setup which makes it an all-wheel-drive car. It churns out 646 horses and 612 pound-feet of torque. Since the Taycan also has the Volkswagen DNA, it features the same electric motors as the RS E-Tron GT, but puts out 687 horses and 627 pound-feet of twist. The Tesla Model S, however, takes the cake. It produces 778 ponies and 841 pound-feet of torque combined from the two electric motors mounted on each axle.

All the cars had their respective moments and won one or the other race in the series

When you put three best EVs money can buy you, you don’t expect one-sided matches. They went up against each other in three different drag races wherein the two of the races were one by a car and the final race by another. The video is quite exciting so we won’t spoil it for you by giving out the results. But, it looks like the different results were due to the reaction times.

There were a couple of rolling races, one is the efficient mode and one in dynamic. Here, all the cars performed differently in the different modes, thus showing each car has its own strength. If you’re in the market for a new car, this video serves as a nice guide as to what to expect from each of them. To be fair, the speed limiter on each of them affected the outcome.

As for the brake test, the heaviest EV took the shortest distance to stop from 70 mph, which is the Porsche Taycan. Porsches are anyway known for their excellent braking capabilities, so this was no surprise.
