• Two-Hour Old Tesla Model Y Allegedly Goes Topless On the Highway

Tesla be like, “This is the latest feature for cross-ventilation, sir”

LISTEN 02:23

When you take the delivery of a new car, there are times when everything is not perfect. You might see the floor mats missing, hear a random rattle from somewhere within the car, or something really minor. But, this is something you wouldn’t ever imagine happening. This brand-new Tesla Model Y’s roof just flew off while cruising on the highway. Has that ever happened before? Not that I can recollect.

Another Day, Another Faulty Tesla Delivered

Tesla is known for having build-quality issues, but this is quite bad even as per the automaker’s standards. This brand-new Tesla’s panoramic glass roof blew off on the highway just two hours after the owner took the delivery.

The owner’s son narrated the whole incident on Reddit:

“My dad bought a brand new model Y today, and he brought me along to pick it up just in case he needed help with any tech problems. Everything was going fine and we were driving back home when we started to hear a ton of wind. I thought maybe a window was open but a minute later the entire glass roof just blew off. After a brief panic we turned around and drove the new Tesla convertible back to the dealership.

When we got back we called highway patrol to tell them that there was a car roof somewhere on the 580, but somebody might have gotten into an accident, I’m not sure. The manager at the dealership said that either the seal for the roof was faulty, or the factory just... forgot to seal the roof on? I can’t imagine how something as big as the roof not being attached could make it past quality control. If this is a recurring problem a lot of people could get hurt. Has this ever happened before?”

Final Thoughts

If this is the convertible that Tesla has to offer, I don’t think anyone wants it. When will Tesla start delivering fault-proof cars? Another possibility, however, could be that the occupants of the car were in a party mode and someone screamed “blow this roof off” and Tesla just obeyed that person like a loyal dog. Could be? No? Well, in Tesla’s defense, this isn’t the worst thing to have happened to date. How about the time when a Model 3’s steering came off? Let us know which one according to you is more dangerous.
