• Sad the 2021 Ford Bronco Isn’t Offered With a V-8? PaxPower Has Your Back!

You can have the V-8 engine with either 400 horses or 758 horses!

LISTEN 03:13

Ford is not offering the 2021 Bronco with a V-8 and it is stinging some people. The fact that Jeep announced a V-8 Wrangler just before the Bronco’s launch added to the misery. We expected aftermarket companies to pounce on this opportunity, but this soon? Houston-based PaxPower has already announced a V-8 Bronco. The tuner will plonk Ford’s V-8 Coyote engine and offer it in two iterations - 400 horses and 758 horses. Exciting enough?

The Pax Power Bronco More Than Double The Power

In the stock form, the Bronco looks well-loaded and stacked. As you go up the trims, it has almost everything to please an enthusiast except for one thing – a V-8 engine. However, this issue, too, has been remedied, and you can get an engine swap done by PaxPower. The tuner is offering the 5.0-liter, V-8 Coyote mill that’s seen in the Ford trucks.

It makes 395 horses, 400 pound-feet of torque, and is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

PaxPower will be tuning it differently and will offer it in two guises. One is a naturally-aspirated version that makes 400 horses and 400 pound-feet of torque and the other one is paired to a 2.9-liter supercharger that churns out 758 ponies. The maximum power that a stock Ford Bronco makes is 310 horses and 400 pound-feet of torque via a 2.7-liter, V-6 EcoBoost mill. So, both these power figures are much more than the stock Bronco.

PaxPower said that the engine will be mated to a 10-speed automatic to start with, but has plans to introduce a manual transmission as well.

PaxPower Also Created a Raptor-Killing Silverado In The Past

The company mainly works on Ford trucks like the F-150 and the Ranger, but earlier this year, it worked on a Chevy Silverado LTZ called the Jackal and gave it a monstrous twist, especially to the suspension setup. From the outside, it looked like a truck on steroids, thanks to stuff like ADD bumpers, 37-inch tires, and so on. Things under the hood didn’t see much of a difference, although the V-8 mill received a power boost of 22 horses. Overall, this truck is testimony to the work that you can expect from PaxPower.

Coming to the pricing, PaxPower has said that the 400-horsepower swap will cost around $30,000, whereas the 758-horsepower mill will cost around $45,000. This, of course, is over and above the cost of the donor Bronco.

The deliveries of the Bronco are expected to start in the second quarter of 2021, so you could expect similar swaps and various other aftermarket accessories for the Bronco as we get closer to the delivery timeline.
