When it came out, the regular C8 Corvette looked like a Ferrari and went like it. The first mid-engine production Corvette managed a 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) time of 2.9 seconds and was closing in on the 200 mph (322 km/h) mark, for under $60,000 starting price.

We already know that the C8 Z06 is powered by a 5.5-liter, normally-aspirated LT6 V-8 that comes straight from the Corvette C8 R race car. The engine features a flat-plane crankshaft, allowing it to rev up to 8,600 RPM while sounding like a Ferrari. This is also the first DOHC engine used in Corvette since the C4 ZR-1 boat engine. The LT6 unit, powering the C8 Z06 makes 670 horsepower at 8,400 RPM and 460 pound-feet (624 Nm). The gearbox remains an eight-speed automatic.

We say supercar because, while the regular C8 was closing in on 200 mph (322 km/h) with regards to top speed, the C8 Z06’s extra power would surely allow it to break the 200 mph mark. With the regular C8, the convertible cost $7,500 extra, while the 2LZ and 3LZ packages cost $3,270 and $8,650 respectively. Again, referring to the regular C8 options’ price, the Z07 package costs an additional $7,995 and if you want the exposed carbon fiber ground effects, that’s another $3,995, and for the competition seats – an additional $995.
