Volkswagen

Volkswagen is a German automaker that dates all the way back to 1937 when it was founded by the Nazi Labour Front. It is now the flagship brand for the Volkswagen Group, a multinational conglomerate that consists of more than 300 subsidiary companies and 7 other automotive brands, including Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, and Porsche. The automaker Volkswagen currently manufacturers models like the Golf, Passat, and Amarok pickup, among others, and derives some 40-percent of its sales from the Chinese market. As of the time of this writing, the cheapest Volkswagen available is the Jetta with a starting price of $18,745, while the most expensive model is the Volkswagen Golf R, which starts out at $40,395. European and Asian markets also have the premium-placed Touareg, a model that used to command more than $50,000 before being discontinued in the states and replaced by the $31,000 Atlas.
