After Tank Turn, Rivian Now Files Patent For K-Turn - gallery

Rivian has filed for a patent called "K-Turn", which is similar to the Tank Turn it revealed in 2019, but will be more usable in day-to-day conditions

The patent shows how the steering input plays a role this time

In the case of Tank Turn, the motors on one side of the vehicle spin forward and in the opposite direction on the other side

Whereas the K-Turn spins the front motors forward and rear motors backward. This way, the truck will move based on the steering input

It will be activated when you turn the steering wheel a little more beyond the steering lock

This will, perhaps, act as a cue for the front and rear motors to do what they are supposed to

Unlike the Tank Turn which can work only on slick surfaces, this could be used on almost any surface the truck can drive on

From the looks of it, it will be helpful while parking and maneuvering in tight spots

Rivian is yet to officially announce this or show a demonstration video as to how it works
