Audi first introduced the A6 nameplate in 1994 as a replacement for the outgoing Audi 100. Since then, the German automaker has ushered in a total of four generations for the model, with the current-gen dropping in 2011. Of course, seven years is a long time for just about any vehicle generation, and as such, Audi is prepping a fifth-generation A6 for the 2019 model year (Audi is calling it the “eighth generation,” but we aren’t counting the refreshes as entire generations). Scheduled to appear in the metal at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show, Audi likes to frame the mid-size premium sedan as the “multitalent in the luxury class,” bringing a healthy mix of style, sportiness, opulence, and technology, all in a comfortable four-door package. And, as you might expect with a generational changeover, the 2019 model year brings a few styling changes outside, a brand-new interior layout, a fresh suite of convenience and connectivity features, and a mild-hybrid upgrade for the powertrain, not to mention a variety of suspension set-ups and standard quattro AWD grip, all of which help to underline the model’s do-it-all attitude.
The A6 is offered in a variety of body styles and configurations, and as such, this generational shift will undoubtedly trickle down to several corners of Audi’s product portfolio. We’re still waiting on a few details regarding the U.S.-bound model, but in the meantime, read on for the latest.

Audi Might Have a Big Surprise At the 2022 Geneva Motor Show
Audi showed up to the Shanghai Auto Show with the A6 E-Tron Concept, a car that seemed more like a futuristic A8 than an A6, and one that had production written all over it. It could also become the brand’s first electric wagon, but we’ll leave that discussion for another time. Until now, we’ve heard nothing about when we’d see a production version, but a new report says that A6 E-Tron is slated for production very soon.

When Audi revealed the A6 E-Tron Concept back in April 2021, there was a very big elephant in the room: The A6 name. Despite the fact that it featured A7-like proportions, like the four-door coupe body, for example, Audi chose the A6 name instead, and there’s actually a logical reason.

After working on the Avant series, Kempten-based aftermarket tuner, ABT Sportsline, has now decided to get its hands dirty with the A6 Allroad. ABT has given the A6 Allroad a generous power boost along with a few cosmetic upgrades and it certainly feels more desirable. Does this ABT package narrow down the gap between the A6 Allroad and the RS6 Avant? It’s not fair to compare the two, but it does.

Audi has launched a new plug-in hybrid trim for its wagon, the A6 Avant. It is based on the A6 Avant 55 TFSI trim, the plug-in model was first revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It isn’t a new powertrain as it’s already been doing duty in the plug-in hybrid versions of the A7 Sportback and Q5. The wagon will be capable of covering 32 miles on battery power alone. The new A6 Allroad is part of the fifth-generation Audi A6 (C8) that Audi launched in 2018. That distinction earns the A6 Allroad its own laundry list of updates, not the least of which includes a new look, new features, and new tech options. Then there’s the hope of a U.S. return, something the A6 Allroad hasn’t had the opportunity to do in a long time. After seven years on the market, the seventh-generation Audi A6, also known as the C7, was finally retired in 2018, making way for a much-improved midsize sedan from the Ingolstadt-based automaker. By the Numbers: 2018 Audi A6 vs 2019 Audi A6
While it’s difficult not to get excited by new-generation cars, I’m far from enthusiastic when Audi launches something new. I understand the philosophy behind the "same sausage, different length," but this design approach doesn’t do it for me. What’s more, I think that Audi’s current styling language is bland and boring. But that’s not to say that the new generations do not bring significant improvements. The new A6, for instance, while still highly recognizable, it stands out inside and out thanks to numerous upgrades. It also boasts different figures when it comes to specs, dimensions, and performance. And we are going to discuss these changes in the comparison below.
Not surprisingly, the latest A6 is a tad bigger than its predecessor. It also offers a bit more room inside the cabin. The changes are far from impressive and barely hit an inch inside and out, but it proves that Audi is slowly but surely making its vehicles bigger. Updated: Audi Spills the Beans on the New A6, Just Hours After Images Leak
Audi is preparing to debut the new A6 at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show but, as is often the case with models as high-profile as the A6, leaked photos tend to ruin the surprise. If you’re looking for the benefits of an SUV without actually owning one, then your best bet is probably one of Audi’s Allroad models. They offer all of the amenities of an SUV, like Audi’s awesome Quattro all-wheel drive system and air suspension. Audi and the RAC (a U.K.-based automotive services company) have set a new official Guinness World Record by driving a diesel-powered A6 TDI Ultra to 14 different countries on a single tank of gas.
The A6 was unmodified for the journey, exceeding its factory-rated 67 mpg with an impressive average of 75.9 mpg, seeing a total of 1,158.9 miles before requiring a fill-up. The car comes standard with low rolling-resistance tires and a 73-liter (19.28-gallon) fuel tank.
At the helm was auto journalist Andrew Frankel and British racing driver Rebecca Jackson, who collaborated to set the new record in a 28-hour non-stop journey across Europe. The pair started in the Netherlands on June 9th at 9:48 AM (GMT) and ended in Hungary on June 10th at 12:44 PM (GMT), passing through Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia in the process. The route was planned by the RAC to avoid things like mountain gradients and congested urban areas.
However, the trip wasn’t without its challenges, with several unplanned detours required due to heavy traffic caused by an accident and a closed tunnel.
Frankel said he was delighted to be part of the effort, and that he hopes the new record will stand for some time to come. However, the challenge was much harder than he expected, requiring a constant attention to the car’s velocity, with max efficiency available at an average speed of 50 mph. “In order to do this you have to be fully aware of what’s going on around you and anticipate what could happen with the traffic ahead,” he said.
For Jackson, the stint was a diversion from her normal gig as a flat-out performance driver, but she thought it was nonetheless something that the RAC and Audi should be proud of. “This was an amazing event and a very different long-distance driving challenge to what I’m doing next year when I compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2016,” she said.

With the announcement of a production version of the 2012 A6 L e-Tron, Audi attempts to answer two problems posed by the Chinese luxury-car market at the same time. The first of these is something that the A6 L in its regular form already addresses, the Chinese obsession with rear legroom. But the more important issue is that of fuel economy, and this the new car does quite well. This economy comes at a bit of a price when it comes to power, but this is a car intended only for the Chinese market, and China very much has its own set of rules. The Audi A6 first entered the market in 1994 as a 1995 five model that would take on competitors like the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes E-Class. The fourth and current generation was ushered in for 2012. For 2016, Audi decided to give the luxury sedan a refresh to keep it fresh until the next-gen model is ready to hit showrooms. The facelift was rather mild, but it included revised front and rear fascia’s, Audi’s new Singleframe grille design, LED headlights, some new upholstery colors, and a 4G LTE hotspot with the MMI infotainment system. Three engine options were available, including gasoline-poured four- and six-cylinder engines, and a six-cylinder diesel for those of you who prefer oil burners.
When it comes to midsize German luxury sedans, the rivalry between BMW, Mercedes, and Audi keeps each brand honest, while at the same time, creating a demand for individuation. If BMW sells itself as the performance-oriented marque, and Mercedes is the technological powerhouse, Audi typically takes the more sensible route. Its “people’s car” roots are obvious when considering the all-wheel-drive practicality, high safety standards, and roomy interior. It’s what makes the A6 the clear choice for the well-off businessperson who’s attached to the standard 2.5 children and looking for a sedan that can pull double duty as a weekday commuter and a family car.

Another month has come and gone, so Turn 10 and Playground Games are now bringing us another downloadable car pack for Forza Horizon 2. I like seeing Forza still focus on great cult cars like the Lotus and Buick, and dropping in something a little different for those off-road races with the Range Rover seems pretty inspired to me. After reviewing the Supercharged Range Rover myself, I feel like it certainly deserves a slot on the Forza roster.

Soccer icon David Beckham and his son Brooklyn were involved in a car crash over the weekend in the elder Beckham’s Audi RS6. According to multiple reports from the UK, the harrowing ordeal happened last Saturday shortly after Beckham picked up his son, who at that time had just finished playing for English Premier club Arsenal’s under-16 team in a game against Brighton.
Details on what exactly happened are still unclear, but a source close to Beckham told The Telegraph that the accident occurred at “quite a speed,” indicating that it was not your typical fender bender. Pictures of the crash scene also paint a clear picture to the extent of damage incurred by Beckham’s RS6 and the Mitsubishi Colt Coupe Cabriolet with a woman and her daughter inside.
Luckily, all parties involved escaped serious injury. Beckham only suffered minor shoulder pains while his son escaped unhurt from the crash. The mother and daughter in the Colt CTZ were both taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
We’re all hoping that everyone involved in the accident recovers from their injuries. We’ve had far too many of these incidences, and while car crashes are a reality of life, they can also be avoided if drivers are more careful when they’re behind the wheel of their cars.

By now you’ve likely seen the latest concept from Audi, the Prologue. You also likely know the concept is a design study that previews how the next generation of Audi vehicle will look. What’s really interesting is that Audi is actually working in reverse. The upcoming A6, A7, and A8 sedans’ designs were all signed off on before the Prologue was created.
According to Audi’s design chief Marc Lichte, the Prologue is a conglomerate of designs between the upcoming trio of cars, acting like a movie trailer of sorts. “We design the new A8, A7 and A6 models first, then put the essence of all three of them into the Prologue. Every element can be traced into the production cars; some things might be a bit louder in the A7, and a bit quieter in the A8, but it’s all in there,” Lichte said in an interview with Autocar at the LA Auto Show.
This means no letdown in design between the concept and production models. What we see in the Prologue will actually hit the streets. What’s more, the Prologue’s size and shape are a preview of Audi’s upcoming A9 flagship coupe, rivaling the likes of 2015 Mercedes’ S-Class coupe. Lichte also promised more design difference between models, giving each one a more distinguishable look.
Audi will start rolling out the new products in the latter part of 2016, starting with the A8. The A7 and A6 are scheduled to follow sometime in 2017. Expect the rest of Audi’s lineup to adopt the new look in the subsequent years.

Whereas a few decades ago a diesel engine would be written off as a smokey, slow oil-burners, these days the demand is very high, and former negative diesel traits have all been eliminated due to the advanced technology of today.

When it comes to press cars and review cars, there are few machines I know more intimately than the 2014 Audi A6 TDI. Last year I joined a collection of fellow lunatics and set out on a 48-hour cannonball run from LA to New York City to test out Audi’s new 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine, and really test its real-world fuel economy. After 46 hours and nearly 3,000 miles, I had spent several hours in every seat, tried to eat, sleep, and work inside of its wood-filled interior, and used almost every gadget it contained to keep myself entertained.
I have made lots of big road trips in lots of cars including the Nissan GT-R and Porsche Cayman S, but this was a whole new experience.
After such an experience, I have lots of things to say about Audi’s full-size luxury sedan. From equipment and pricing to performance and fuel economy, the Audi made major impressions. But where all those impressions good, would I do the trip again, and do I think it’s a car worth spending money on?

There’s been a lot of action at the Nurburgring track this week, with both the 2016 BMW M2 and the Jaguar XE being spotted lapping the German course. The two have been joined by the upcoming Audi A6 Allroad, a vehicle previously caught testing in snowy conditions earlier this year, as well.
Although it hasn’t lost any of its camouflage since then, it’s more than obvious that the wagon has received a pair of new headlamps, while the front bumper and the large grille have been reshaped for a crisper appearance. The details are well hidden around back, but expect for the A6 Allroad to show up with redesigned taillights and a slightly updated bumper.
The only details that are out in the open are the large alloy wheels and the low profile tires; just a few more hints that the A6 Allroad means business in the performance department.
Speaking of performance, the existing gasoline engine will carry over unchanged, while the diesel mills will receive slight output increases, with the 3.0-liter TDI diesel to reach into 270-horsepower territory. Naturally, all units will burn less fuel and spew less CO2.

A host of spyshots of the Audi A6’s line has been sent our way over the past few weeks. This time, the new A6 Allroad takes its turn in the spotlight and our observing eyes. At first glance, there are a number of things we noticed about these latest batch of spy pics, particularly the modified front end that now features new headlights with new DRLs.
The shape remains relatively the same, although don’t expect the company’s laser lights technology to be part of it. That’s still years away from happening so temper the hype on that one. Moving away from the lights, the grille and the front bumper of the A6 Allroad also look different, although we expect the former to return to its normal configuration once the model draws closer to its Paris debut.
There’s more to these spy photos than just the subtle tweaks done on the front. The rear end also received some distinct styling modifications while the interior will also get a handful of new upgrades.

Diesels seem to be breaking their oil-burning, noisy, smokey stigmas that have haunted them for decades as more and more automakers are now offering clean diesels in their lineups. The latest huge influx of diesel models hails from Audi.
The German automaker, which is owned by Volkswagen Group, has announced a huge diesel push with 11 new TDI “Ultra” models, including the new A6 TDI Ultra detailed here. For starters, the "Ultra" in the TDI Ultra name is Audi’s designation for sustainable mobility that is fully available for everyday use — a long explanation for a TDI A6 that gets darn good fuel mileage while not hindering its common usability.
The heart of the matter is a 2.0-liter, four cylinder diesel that produces 190 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque that pushes the A6 from 0 to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds while achieving 53 mpg highway. With stats like that, we don’t mind hugging trees and filing up next to big rigs. Keeping all those trees happy, however, is Audi’s high efficiency SCR system that removes nitrogen oxides from the exhaust. The new system also lets the A6 pass the stringent Euro 6 emission standards with ease.
Backing the 2.0-liter TDI are two optional transmissions: a six-speed manual transmission is standard, followed by the optional seven-speed dual-clutch S tronic automatic. However, opting for the slap-paddle gearbox shoots the A6’s price up €2,250 — roughly $3,000 at the current exchange rates — making rowing your own gears sound evermore attractive.
Furthering the A6’s efficiency is the standard start-stop system and driver information center that helps keep track of good driving behavior.
Pricing for the A6 Avant TDI Ultra starts at €42,250 (about$57,000 at today’s exchange rates) and the A6 sedan TDI Ultra starts a little lower at €39,900 (around $54,000). Sales will begin sometime in the first quarter of 2014 and there are no plans yet to release any Ultra models in the U.S.

Normally, European tuners don’t pay too much attention to an aftermarket show like SEMA, but every so often, some do make the trip across the pond. This year, one of Germany’s biggest tuning firms will be in attendance at SEMA, and it’s not only bringing a program to the event, it’s actually announcing its plans to expand its business into the U.S.
That’s right: ABT Sportsline is coming to America!
But before ABT officially sets shop in Los Angeles beginning next year, the German tuner will be at SEMA to introduce its new program for the Audi A6.
Billed as the Audi AS6, ABT Sportsline’s programs for Audis have become legendary. The same can be said for this new AS6 program, which comes with a plethora of new aero components, including an ABT front spoiler, fender inserts, side skirts, carbon-look mirror covers and a rear spoiler that was installed in combination with a rear skirt kit.
As far as power upgrades are concerned, the AS6 also boasts an upgrade that turned the output of the A6’s 3.0-liter, TDI engine to an impressive 286 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. That’s an impressive spike from the sedan’s original 240 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque.
As far as ABT Sportsline’s invasion of America, the company will be looking to put its stamp on Audis in America the same way it’s been able to do in Europe, where it’s considered one of the best Audi tuners.
“We look forward to being part of the SEMA’s 50th anniversary party," Hans-Jürgen Abt, CEO of ABT Sportsline, said in a press release. "With the ABT AS6, the more than 100,000 trade visitors at one of the globally most successful automotive fairs can see a perfect, detailed and dynamic total package."

The Audi A6 Avant isn’t necessarily the most awesome model that the German automaker offers, but it is one of just a handful of luxury wagons available on the market. However, when Audi introduced the new 3.0 Biturbo engine with 313 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, which affords it a 5.3-second 0-to-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint and a 155 mph top speed, we couldn’t help but take notice.
Apparently, Senner Tuning took notice too, as it just introduced a tuning package for the A6 Avant 3.0 TDI Biturbo that takes the A6 Avant to a new level. The tuner installed its Stage 2 tuning kit for the 3.0 TDI Biturbo engine, a sport air filter and a power convertor for the drive-by-wire system to help boost its output to 374 horsepower and 572 pound-feet of torque. Though Senner did not disclose the performance numbers of this retuned A6 Avant, we estimate it at 5 seconds to 100 km/h (62 mph) and a top speed of 180 mph.
With this boost in power, Senner also chose to increase its adhesion to the road. It started off by installing a KW Street Comfort coil-over kit that drops the A6’s ride height by 30 to 55 mm (1.18 to 2.16 inches). Senner also gives buyers the choice of two 9.5-by-20-inch wheels — Varianza T1S or Sword SC1 — with high-gloss black on the faces and high-gloss anodized beads. The rims are wrapped in 255/35R20 Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta rubber.
Other than the custom wheels and the lowering kit, the A6’s exterior remains unchanged, making this the perfect sleeper kit for any owner.
The Audi A6 includes some new features and options for 2014 to invigorate sales of the aluminum-bodied luxury sedan. The U.S. market has been a bit of a dud for the new-shape design since its arrival as a 2012 model. That is not stopping its prospects elsewhere in the world.
The lengthened A6L is China’s most popular limousine by far. Everyone knows Chinese businessmen like the ride in the back seat. There’s much more to that preference than image and prestige.
Here are two little-known facts:
It is much easier and cheaper to pay someone to drive you to and from work in China than it is to park in urban centers. The same businessmen who ride in the back during the week usually drive the car themselves on weekends, so the cars need more dynamic prowess than many believe.Once these factors are considering, the option of a luxury shuttle for about $20 a week sounds great. Many Americans would jump at the chance to do the same thing.
That is not how we operate, however, so the A6 comes to our shores ready for a knock-down, drag-out brawl with two of the most competent luxury sedans on the market, the Mercedes-Benz E350 and the BMW 535i.
Do the A6’s luxury cockpit, advanced engines and sophisticated design offer enough incentive to lure conquest sales from other German brands? The company sure hopes so and even offers a $1,500 bonus to Mercedes and BMW drivers when they buy an A6 (or many other Audi models).

A 48-hour-long stretch of back and forth on the R8 e-tron was enough to make our heads spin. One side was saying that the e-tron may see production in limited units and the other flat out said no way, just a day later. Now, we have even more e-tron news to confuse us all.
According to a report from AutoBlog.nl, rumors are circulating that Audi is working on a Sportback version of the A6 that will feature the same e-tron technology that the recently axed R8 e-tron featured, on a less massive scale, of course.
This hot hatchback is rumored to make its debut at the 2013 IAA in Frankfurt and will feature a 300-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-banger with 100 ponies worth of electric motor added to it. This would give the A6 e-tron a total of 400 horsepower, just 20 horsepower short of the mighty 2013 S6… not too shabby.
For now, these are just rumors that we take with a healthy serving of salt, given the on-and-off R8 e-tron. Regardless, this sounds like one bad-ass concept to say the least.
It looks like Audi has just entered the Halloween spirit, a day letter its true, but better than ever. The company has just unveiled the A6 and A7 Black Editions, two models that combine their more emphatic styling with the most extensive equipment list in each range. Prices will range from £35,010 ($56,500) to £56,785 ($91,600).
As their name suggest the two models will be distinguished by black finish for the grille and number plate surrounds and the window frame strips, plus tinted windows. The two special editions will be offered with a new set of wheels, sized 20" for the A6 and 21" for the A7. The wheels are painted in dark titanium finish and are combined with lowered sports suspension.
For the interior the Black Edition will get sports seats upholstered in black Valcona leather, a BOSE surround sound system, DAB digital radio and the Audi Music Interface (AMI) for iPod connection.
Customers will have the possibility to choose between three engines: a 3.0-litre BiTDI unit 313, a 2.0-litre TDI unit with 177 HP and a 3.0-litre TDI with 204 HP.
Leave it to ABT Sportsline to come up with a tuning program for the Audi A6 that fans of the four rings will appreciate.
The German tuner always brings their game when it comes to programs for Audi and this one is no different. It features a slew of aerodynamic and performance improvements that not only add vibrancy to the elegance of the new A6, but also provide added power that’s bound to get noticed.
Looking at the components, ABT Sportsline gave the now rechristened AS6 with a number of new parts, including a new front spoiler, side skirts, a rear spoiler, and a rear skirt set that comes with tailpipe exhaust tips. The program also comes with a new set of 19" to 21" ABT light alloy wheels
On its own, the A6 carries a number of engines under its hood, each of which ABT Sportsline has performance modifications for. Talk about thorough, right? The flagship 3.0-liter TDI model was given ABT Power to the tune of 270 horsepower, an increase from the standard 204-horsepower output of the regular model. If that isn’t enough, ABT also has what it calls "New Generation" enhancement, which increases the output from either 245 or 313 horsepower to 300 or 360 horsepower, respectively.
Meanwhile, the most powerful engine version of the line-up, the 3.0-liter TFSI, sees its output bump from 300 horsepower to 420 horsepower. Finally, the entry level 2.0-liter TDI wasn’t left out in the cold, getting 205 horsepower from the standard model’s 170-horsepower output.
The 3.0-liter BiTDI engine that Audi has developed has pretty much flipped what we think of diesel engines – that they are torque-loaded but underpowered – on its rear. MTM has taken the A6 3.0 BiTDI, which we don’t see in the U.S., and turned it into even more powerful of a ride, as well as helping look and handle a little better.
The A6 3.0 BiTDI’s body remains essentially unchanged with MTM’s package and we don’t mind one bit. The A6’s body is pretty sexy, for a station wagon, so we are happy to see that MTM didn’t go overboard with the body kit for it. The only styling change added to the A6 are a set of custom wheels. There are actually a variety of Bimoto wheels available from MTM for this package, which range from €1,729 to €5,230 ($2,140 to $6,471 at current rates).
Helping the handling and ride height is an aftermarket F-Cantronic ECU for the air suspension, which allows you to drop the car’s center of gravity up to 25 mm (0.98 inches). This increases both handling and gives the A6 a more stylish look. This ECU runs €1,740 ($2,153 at current rates).
Helping the A6 come to a halt is a brake upgrade that includes 380 x 34 mm (14.96- x 1.33-inch) rotors with 8-piston calipers squeezing them. This kit runs €4,900 ($6,063), but you can opt for another upgrade that includes 405 x 36 mm (15.94- x 1.41-inch) rotors for an additional €1,500 ($1,856), but to get this size, you must opt for at least 20-inch wheels.
The engine sees some significant increases too, as the base ECU modification, which costs €1,700 ($2,103) will net you 365 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. This is a 57-horsepower and 81 pound-feet bump from stock. You can pump this up to a full 381 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque for an extra €100 ($123).
In all, this package will run between €10,069 ($12,464) and €15,170 ($18,771), depending on the options you choose. That’s quite a hefty fee, but this will make your A6 a true screamer.
The Audi A6 is wedged in the middle of Audi’s A lineup and often gets neglected. Typically, its sportier smaller siblings or more powerful larger brethren garner all of Audi’s attention. Seemingly every year, the other A cars are getting upgrades and new additions, but not the poor little A6. Well, it looks like Audi is about to give the A6 a little love this coming model year.
Audi is planning to add in some upgrades to the base level A6 2.0T to make it a little more desirable, according to a report. The first of the additions is an all new transmission. Last year, the base level A6 2.0T only had a CVT available, and for those of us that enjoy driving, a CVT just does not cut it. This year, Audi is adding an eight-speed automatic transmission to the A6’s line of available options.
Even better than getting a new transmission, the second addition is going to be the availability of Audi’s Quattro system on the 2013 A6 2.0T. Last year, the only model that had the Quattro system available was the A6 3.0. So, now you can get you AWD and not have to deal with the 19 mpg that the supercharged 3.0-liter engine leaves you with.
From here, it looks as if Audi is continuing on its path of wise decisions, despite the exit of the executive that receives most of the credit for the brand’s recent growth. It’s nice to see someone take over the wheel of successful company and not try to reinvent it. With the recent success of Audi, the best option is to just continue down the same path.
Audi is further expanding its e-Tron line-up with a new A6 L e-Tron concept at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. This decision really shouldn’t surprise anyone considering people in the Chinese market love their large cars, but want efficiency in their models as well. The new A6 L e-Tron Concept serves up the perfect combination the luxury and the practicality of an A6, and a range of 49.71 miles on pure electric power.
Like all the other e-Tron models, the new A6 L e-Tron concept combines a 211 HP 2.0 TFSI engine with a 95 HP electric motor. The electric motor takes its power from a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery located in a collision-protected space at the rear of the vehicle.
The concept was built on an ultra lightweight principle that combines 10% aluminum with carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). The interior is almost similar to a standard A6, except that the power-meter replaces the tachometer that offers the driver the info he needs.

Audi has unveiled the new twin-turbo V6 TDI engine in UK. This engine will be used on models like the A6 sedan and the Avant, as well as the A7 Sportback models. The new models are already on sale and prices will start from £43,810 ($69,200 at the current rates) for the A6 models and from £51,645 ($81,500 at the current rates) for the A7 Sportback.
The new V6 TDI engine has been equipped with a two-stage turbocharger group that delivers a maximum boost pressure of up to 3.2 bar. This allows the engine to deliver a total of 313 HP from 3,900-4,500rpm and a peak torque of 479 lb-ft available from 1,450 to 2,800rpm.
With this amount of power, the A6 3.0 BiTDI quattro sedan will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds and the Avant and A7 in 5.3 seconds. On all three models, the top speed is limited to 155 mph.
The new engine has been combined with technologies like start-stop and recuperation systems and the innovative thermal management system that quickly brings the coolant and oil up to their operating temperatures. With these additions, the fuel economy went up to an impressive 44.1mpg.
Technology just keeps getting cooler and cooler. The time to sit idly by while videos played out their predetermined route has come and gone. Audi Canada has released an interactive video in which the viewer can decide in which direction their new A6 will go. It’s kind of like those adventure novels where the reader had to choose their path throughout the story, but in this case, the viewer gets to choose their path along a track.
Okay, so it’s not as cool as Need for Speed or Forza Motorsport, but it does the trick.

Studio Progress Films in association with FX are bringing us the latest in television drama with an entertainment concept called Untitled Jersey City Project. The project is a unique experiment consisting of eight episodes, leading to a larger story of money, fame, power, and death.
This isn’t part of the drinking, smooshing, and idiocy craze of Jersey Shore. This story takes place on the Jersey City waterfront where developers are cashing in on the city’s need to expand - and expand quickly - to match the buzzing sounds of Manhattan just across the river.
Audi’s role in this budding drama is clear. Whether it’s the hardworking architects trying to build their business, the bare-knuckle negotiator/developer exerting his power, or the up and coming journalist trying to catch her big break, Audi models are the choice for transportation because of their style, comfort, luxury, and sportiness.
The star of this trailer is the 2012 Audi A6. With its new aluminum hybrid body and harmonious proportions, the A6 is a new beast in the world of sedans, bringing together luxury and sport in a beautiful Audi package.

Initially it was believed that Audi will bring the new A6 Allroad Quattro in March at the Geneva Motor Show, but it seems that the company decided to offer us the official details a few months earlier. The model will go on sale in Germany this Spring at a starting price of €54,600 or about $70,000 at the current exchange rates.
Compared to a standard A6 Avant the A6 Allroad Quattro is 2.36 inches higher and is distinguished by trim strips on the side sills, more widely flared fenders and a single-frame grille with vertical slats. At the rear the exhaust system ends in two large, flattened tailpipes and the wheel well edges, the bumpers and the sills are painted in a contrasting color.
The new A6 Allroad Quattro will be offered with a choice of four engines: one TFSI gasoline engine and three TDI units with power ranging from 204 HP to 313 HP. The three other engines are paired with the seven-speed S tronic and a quattro permanent four-wheel drive system.

The 2012 Audi A6 Avant has received a new tuning kit courtesy of Audi tuner extraordinaire, ABT Sportsline. Aesthetic upgrades are part of the package, but the main ingredient of the whole thing is an extensive performance upgrade that takes the output of the estate car to a whole new level.
Among the changes you’ll notice on the exterior include a new front spoiler, new sidebars, a custom rear spoiler, a new rear apron that integrates four exhaust pipes, and a set of 19", 20", and 21" lightweight wheels that comes wrapped with high-speed tires.
As for the engine, the 2012 A6 Avant is powered by a number of engine options, including a 3.0-liter TDI engine with a choice output of 204 horsepower and 245 horsepower and a 2.0-liter TFSI engine that produces 300 horsepower. On it’s own, these engines are impressive, right? Not to ABT Sportsline.
Using a few engine modifications, the German tuner was able to bump up the output of the two 3.0-liter TDI variants from 204 horsepower to 240 horsepower and 245 horsepower to 300 horsepower. As for the gas-powered 2.0 TFSI engine, the original output of 300 horsepower has been juiced up to a mouth-watering 420 horsepower, improving the car’s 0-62 mph time to just under five seconds.
ABT Sportsline’s upgrade on the 2012 A6 Avant has turned an already attractive car into one impressive piece of business. And quite frankly, we wouldn’t mind owning a piece of that business ourselves.
Audi has just revealed the A6 Avant in Berlin. The Avant is the most successful business-class station wagon in Europe and the new model will be offered with a choice of six engines with an 18% fuel consumption, a lightweight body, and many additional innovations.
The base version will be offered with a 177 HP 2.0 TDI engine, while the top model gets a 313 HP 3.0 TDI engine. The 2.0L TDI version is the most impressive when it comes to fuel economy with a total of 47 mpg on the highway.
Like with all the other models, the A6 Avant will also get a S-Line sports package that will lower the body by 30 millimeters and includes large wheels, appearance modifications, and many special details for the all-black interior.
The seventh generation Audi A6 Avant will go on sale on the European markets in late summer 2011 with a base price of 40,850 euros - or about $58,000 at the current exchange rates.

Audi’s got a new car in the pipeline but in typical fashion, the company’s going to squeeze out every ounce of curiosity from all of us before unveiling their new ride. The folks from Ingolstadt even released a couple of photos showing off their fleet of new cars with one car intriguingly draped in a white blanket. Apparently, that car is Audi’s answer to the BMW 5-Series, the 2012 Audi A6 sedan..
Not many details have been released for Audi’s refreshed sedan, but a picture is sometimes worth a thousand words and, although these pictures are disguised to say the least, information can still be gathered.
UPDATE 06/26/2012: It looks like Audi is about to give the A6 a little love this coming model year as they are adding in some upgrades to the base level A6 2.0T to make it a little more desirable. The most impressive model ABT brought to the 2011 Geneva Motor Show was the R8 GT S, but alongside the luscious R8, the German tuner also brought a nifty package for the new generation Audi A6. The modified A6 includes a some exterior updates and some changes under the hood too.
The exterior package includes new side skirts, a front spoiler, a rear skirt insert, 4-end pipes, and a new rear spoiler. No changes were made for the interior, but the luxury sedan is luxurious for a reason, so no changes were necessary for the inside of it.
For the most powerful engine in the A6 line-up, ABT Sportsline reworked the power from a standard 300 HP to an impressive 410 HP. However, the 3.0 TDI engine has also received two different updates, getting the power up to 282 HP or 310 HP from a standard 245 HP.

Thanks to a design that features an elegant yet sporty proportions featuring a long engine hood, a low, sweeping roofline and prominent lines on the flanks that create an overall dynamic appearance, the new Audi A6 was awarded with the 2011 EyesOn Design title at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show.
It’s the fourth time in the past three years – a remarkable achievement in every sense of the word – that Audi has scooped up an EyesOn Design award for one of their vehicles.
For this year, the new A6 was recognized with the “Best Production Vehicle” design displayed at the event, further strengthening Audi’s increasing position as one of the world’s best in automotive design.
In accepting the EyesOn Design trophy, Achim Badstuebner, head of exterior design for AUDI AG, was pleased with the reception the A6 received from the panel of judges. “This is strong feedback that we have done our homework," he said.
Over the past few years, Audi has scooped up EyesOn Design awards at an impressive rate. Back in 2009, Audi bagged two awards for “Best Production Car Design” with the Audi R8 V10 and “Best Concept Vehicle” for the Audi Sportback Concept, the same concept that later became the inspiration for the A7 Sportback. A year later at the 2010 NAIAs, Audi picked up from where they left off by winning another “Best Production Car Design” title with the Audi A8 luxury sedan.
Make that four in three years for Audi with the new A6. From the looks of things, it’s going to take a lot more from its competitors to take the mantle off of Audi in the near future.

Next to the standard A6, Audi has also revealed today details on the A6 hybrid, the company’s second hybrid model after the Q5 hybrid quattro. However, the hybrid version will be available at a later date.
Its hybrid system combines a 211 HP 2.0 TFSI engine with an electric motor that delivers 45 HP and 211 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a modified 8-speed tiptronic transmission that sends torque to the front wheels. It will deliver an average fuel consumption of only 6.2 liters per 100 km (37.94 US mpg).
For the A6 Hybrid the equipment list will include: Audi drive select dynamic handling system, sporty ESP with electronic limited-slip differential on board, adaptive air suspension with controlled damping is available as an option and a dynamic steering will be available soon, also as an option.

After only two years after the unveiling of the facelift version, Audi is bringing the next generation A6. Of course, if we take a closer look at the automotive industry, this decision should come as no surprise. Expect the new Audi A6 to make its world debut at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. Sales in the USA will begin in late 2011.
The new A6 sedan will adopt a design that has yet to be seen on the A6 model. The design choice is that of the new A7 Sportback. Not only will the A6 be receiving the A7’s design, but it will also be built on a conventional steel chassis that uses numerous aluminum parts to keep the overall weight down. The standard suspension will use traditional steel coil springs, while an optional air suspension will also be available.
Under the hood, Audi will place a fully revamped powertrain lineup that could consist of all forced-induction engines. There will be a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder as the base engine, while the top version will get a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8.
The list of standard options will include a touchpad-entry navigation system, live Google, lane-keeping assist, active cruise control with follow-to-stop, and autonomous emergency braking.
It wasn’t long ago that Audi unveiled a facelift version for the A6. In fact, it was only in 2009, and Audi is already preparing its next generation. Set to be unveiled in 2011 in Europe and 2013 in USA, the new luxury sedan will be longer and lighter with new powertrains, including a hybrid.
The next A6 will be built on a 115-inch wheelbase - about three inches longer than the current model - and will share the same body steel with the A7. As for the engine line-up, Audi will start with a 201-HP 2.8-liter V-6 engine for the entry level and will go up to a supercharged 372-HP V8. A hybrid version will be announced in 2012 that will combine a 3.0-liter supercharged engine and an eight-speed autobox.
While steel will be used for most of the body parts, Audi has chosen to use aluminum for the door panels, as well as for some of the underskin parts such as the cast front strut towers. The suspension systems will be shared with models like the A7 and the A8, offering a better weight distribution. The German magazine AutoZeitung has just revealed a new rendering of the next-generation Audi A6 midsize sedan that is set to be unveiled sometime in 2010. The new A6 features a much more modern and sporty appearance, while it uses the same design cues as the latest A5 and A4 from the German automaker. The Audi A6 will compete head to head with the next generation BMW 5-Series, M from Infiniti and that new Mercedes Benz E-Class.
The 2010 A6 will be made from a multi-material space frame that combines different metals wherever they are most favorable as far as structural rigidity and impact protection. the added benefits are improved handling, increased fuel economy and lower emissions. The exterior of the future A6 will be inspired by the smaller and sportier all-new TT. The vehicle will be predominantly made up of aluminum, but there will be steel and foam reinforcements wherever necessary. In addition, Audi is developing an all-new lightweight front and rear sub-frames which allow for increased strengthening around the integral parts of the lightweight chassis that tie it together.
Audi will be offering all sorts of power plants to move the new A6, ranging from a 190 HP 2.8 Liter V6 FSI or a 224 HP version. The last gas burning V6 will also be an FSI and will displace 3.2 Liters making 265 HP. The only V8 in the lineup will be a 4.2 Liter motor making 350 HP. The top of the line nits will be powered by a 5.2 Liter V10 FSI making 420 HP in the Audi S6 and a 5.0 Liter Biturbo FSI V10 pumping out 580 HP for an RS7. There will also be two diesel burning V6 power plants in the range, consisting of a 2.7 Liter TDI making 185 HP and a 238 HP 3.0 Liter TDI.
In an attempt at a bit of viral video marketing, Ford showed this video to a group of journalists at the recent launch of the 2010 Ford Taurus SHO. The drag pits Ford’s factory tuned flagship model against an upscale Audi A6 with Quattro all wheel drive and a Hemi powered Chrysler 300. Which do you think won?
What’s interesting is that Ford is playing up the four wheel drive and V8-like capabilities of the new for 2010 SHO, but what would have happened if Ford put their best four door sedan up against an Audi S6 or an SRT-8. Either way, the blue oval group proved that a boosted V6 can outrun a V8, and use less gas while doing it.
