Hyperion

Plug-in and full hybrid vehicles are mostly viewed as a transition between internal combustion engines and EVs. In 2019, just two percent of light vehicles, sold in the US, were hybrids and for 2020, things have remained about the same. In the EU only one percent of vehicles are plug-in hybrids. However, with the recent talk about hydrogen, Hyperion Motors takes the opportunity to change the fate of hybrid vehicles. Their XP-1 hypercar took eight years to develop and now, the first prototype has finally taken shape. It certainly promises a lot, but can it deliver?

The Hyperion XP-1 has literally been in the works for five years, after the then-five-year-old energy company released a very random teaser for a car with extreme supercar proportions. It was five years after that before we saw or heard anything else about it, which came in the form a revised teaser image with an even better-looking silhouette. Suddenly, in July of 2020, energy company, Hyperion, confirmed that the hydrogen-powered XP-1 hypercar was almost ready to enter the world with a new teaser video that really aroused our suspicion. And, the day has finally come, and Hyperion has revealed the XP-1 in all its glory with some rather outrageous claims. These claims, friends, say that the XP-1 could sprint to 60 mph in 2.2 seconds and max out well beyond 200 mph. The projected range, however, could rattle the EV world as we know it!

Back in August 2020, Hyperion finally launched the XP-1 hypercar. The car took the world by storm with some ridiculous claims like a 1,000-mile range, top speed beyond 200 mph, and so on. The XP-1 looked incredible in the press images, but would it have the same feels in the real world? Well, the Hyperion XP-1 took a stroll in the streets of Hollywood during a street photoshoot session and we must say, it looked pretty alien out there.

It’s been six months since we’ve talked about Hyperion and its hydrogen-powered XP-1 hypercar. If you don’t recall, Hyperion is an energy company that was founded back in 2011 and four years later released a teaser image that hinted it was getting into the car game. Well, the debut of that very car is finally on the horizon, and in anticipation of its August 2020 debut, Hyperion has released another teaser. We finally get to see a little more of the car, but not much. Be sure to scroll past the video to get a better look!

Do you happen to remember the energy company “Hyperion?” It’s not surprising if you don’t – the company was founded back in 2011 and mysteriously showed up on our radar back in 2015 when it released a darkened teaser for a very odd-looking car. Since then, the company has been largely silent since this time last year when more images started popping up on social media, just for the account to go silent once again (you can see all the images below.) Now, the company is back with yet another mysterious teaser, one that appears to show a revised car and the promise of a world premiere happening soon. Just what in the world is going on here?
