My Top Bike Picks Out Of 2018 INTERMOT

So Much To Choose From

The 2018 calendar year may have a bit yet to go before its last gasp, but the 2019 model year is in full bloom with the beginning of the show season and the INTERMOT show in Cologne, Germany. So far, we’ve seen the genuine article for a number of previously-teased machines, as well as a few pleasant surprises from unexpected sources along with some much-needed updates. Today I want to take a look at this show, so buckle up as we head across the pond and check out some of my favorites.

Indian’s brand new FTR 1200 Street Tracker designs leaked in patents

The brand will launch it at the Intermot Motorcycle Show next month

Unveiling the brand’s all-new FTR1200 custom street tracker at the 2017 EICMA, Indian has begun the onslaught of looking elsewhere for their inspirations other than just making vintage charmers and majestic cruising machines.

After a year of teasing us, the Springfield firm will be finally launching the production version for the streets at the Intermot show on October 2nd. And still more than a week to go for this big launch, the web has been flooded with the design patents of the motorcycle including the fuel tank, frame, motor and the suspension.

Suzuki to unveil the Katana at the Intermot next month

It will produce close to 150 hp, thanks to a turbo-charged engine

Five months ago we learnt that the Japanese manufacturer filed for a trademark application in the USA for the name ‘Katana’ and a swanky new logo too with the sword. It was more of a logo and name protection really, suggesting that Suzuki has strong intentions of getting it back for real.

Looks like the Gods have heard us because Suzuki just released a teaser video confirming the possibility. The video tells us that the Katana will be showcased to us at the Intermot show next month. The video shows a sword being made on an anvil and a statement that reads “Feel the Edge”.

Triumph Shows Off New Rides At INTERMOT

Triumph Motorcycles has been hard at it over the last year. It expanded some existing lines while revisiting its own storied past. First off, the bike builders from Hinkley added the cafe’-tastic “Street Cup” to its Street series that runs the 900 cc Bonneville twin in a bike that hits all the highest points of cafe’ racer design. Second up, Triumph expands its Heritage line with a new generation of the T100.

Kawasaki Announces New Bike Then Makes Us Wait To Touch It

Kawasaki apparently has learned a thing or two about how to keep folks in suspense and generate buzz and is exercising that skill at the INTERMOT motorcycle show in Cologne, Germany. Factory representatives showed up with a handful of tweaks and improvements to existing models (which I’ll cover in detail soon), but the big news was the new Z900. So far, we have only a couple of pictures and a promise, and I can tell you it looks nothing like the original.
