A beautiful all-electric four-door coupé that’ll take Audi one step above

Update 2-9-2021: Audi has finally revealed the E-Tron GT and RS E-Tron GT. While we update this review with all the finer details, check out the important information and new images below!

Announced at Audi’s Annual Press Conference in Ingolstadt earlier this year, the Audi E-Tron GT is a new all-electric four-door coupé destined to hit the market in 2020. Offered as part of the Audi electric onslaught in which the Ingolstadt-based company will reveal 20 new electric models by 2025, the Audi E-Tron GT will sit at the top of the Audi Sport division, and will be responsible for constructing an all-new character trait for Audi’s line of Sport vehicles. With models such as the Audi A5 Sportback and Audi A7, the company obviously has some proper knowledge of the four-door coupé design. The E-Tron GT will act as a flagship for this intriguing car segment.

Given the E-Tron GT will take technology, design features, cabin specs, and possibly drivetrain hardware from other E-Tron vehicles, we already know a thing or two about the new car. Marketed to fight against the likes of the Tesla Model S and similar entries from other manufacturers, the Audi E-Tron GT could be even more impressive than the recently introduced E-Tron Quattro SUV.

Check out the Facelifted E-Tron SUV Playing in the Snow

We keep seeing the facelifted E-Tron, which means we’ll see it uncovered very, very soon.

Following a fresh batch of Q6 E-Tron spy shots and the first spy shots of the Q8 E-Tron’s facelift, we now have a new set of the facelifted E-Tron doing some winter testing. Much like the last prototype we spotted, this one is wearing. A similar bottom-only camouflage, indicating changes to the front end, side skirts, and lower rear end.

As was the case with the last prototype, the front grille on this prototype features a honeycomb mesh, so we can say with little doubt that this is a production feature. It will be a very nice change from the vertical and horizontal slats of the pre-facelift model. We can’t say much else about it due to the extensive coverage, but it looks as if we will see further changes to the front fascia, and there’s a good chance there will be some minor changes to the front genders as well. The rear lights are still concealed, so you can expect some more change there, too. If you want to know more, be sure to check out the last round of Q8 E-Tron spy shots and learn what we know about the “next-gen” model.

Q8 E-Tron Confirmed as Facelifted E-Tron Prototype Reveals Minor Changes

The E-Tron EV will be revised for 2022, but will be replaced in 2026 by the new Q8 E-Tron

Audi is not backing down from electrification. Just recently we learned that the RS6 Avant E-Tron should launch in 2023 and not even a week after that, the company launched the China-only Q5 E-Tron, basically a rebadged Volkswagen ID.6X. And, while all these new models are cool, we can’t forget about existing models, like the original E-Tron – Audi’s largest electric SUV to date. That’s why the company is hard at work to refresh it for 2022 – a move that will keep it fresh until its successor arrives. That successor, we just learned will be coming in 2026.

At first, we thought this might be the Q6 E-Tron, but upon closer inspection, this is probably a China-only special

The Audi Q6 E-Tron will probably be revealed in 2022, so when these spy shots landed in my inbox this morning, I thought for sure that’s what I was looking at. However, sources are new telling us that this is a Chinese-market special, and it should even be a seven-seater.

Audi Can Make Your E-Tron Go A Little Further, But There’s A Catch

Some optimizations will be made but expecting huge numbers would be foolish

Audi e-Tron owners, 2019-20 model years, receive a free software update that will add about 12 miles or 20 kilometers to its total range. The update also optimized the thermal management along with electrical losses in the motor. It is after three years that the company rolled out an update to improve the mileage efficiency of its first-ever EV, and for starters, the overall mileage was not that great if compared to the likes of the Jaguar I-Pace, and the Tesla Model Y.

The folks at Carwow brought in four of the best EVs that money can buy you today. The contenders include an Audi e-Tron GT, a Mercedes EQS, a Porsche Taycan 4S, and a Tesla Model S. The Model S is the veteran of the lot, but can it defeat its fairly new rivals on the drag strip?

Audi is arguably the most proactive company that’s adopting electrification. The company has many all-electric vehicles in its portfolio already, and one of them is the RS e-Tron GT. The RS e-Tron GT is the most powerful Audi vehicle that you can buy today. The folks at Carwow pit this beast against a car that can be considered its fuel-powered alter-ego, the Audi R8. Do you think the Audi R8 can defeat the RS e-Tron GT in a series of races?

Does The Audi Q7 V-12 Have Enough Oomph To Beat The Torquey-Audi E-Tron?

This Q7 and e-Tron showdown is a modern-day dual-motor setup vs an old-school, naturally aspirated V-12 duel

We’ve been seeing Teslas extirpate internal combustion-engined for the longest time. With the Model S Plaid, it has gotten as brutal as it can get. EVs have surely set the bar high and cars sprinting from 0 to 60 mph in over six seconds are considered slow, but that doesn’t necessarily mean all EVs are performance machines. The Audi e-Tron Sportback, is one of them. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not slow by any means, but it’s not quick like most of the Teslas either.

So, to have a fairly competitive race, the folks at Carwow pit the Audi e-Tron Sportback 55 against an Audi Q7 V-12 for a series of drag and rolling races. Can a mighty V-12 beat two electric motors?

Drag races are fun when similarly spec’d cars race against each other. But, they are even more fun when you have vehicles from different segments and niches go up against each other. In this video by Carwow, the Audi e-Tron takes goes head-to-head against the Honda Civic Type-R and the BMW X4. All of them follow a different diet and that plays a major role in the result of the race. Do you think the instantaneous torque of the EV is good enough against a high-revving petrol mill and a torquey, powerful diesel?

700 Horsepower - Is That Enough for the Audi RS E-Tron GT?

Even more, is that enough to pique the customer’s interest?

Audi’s incoming e-tron GT, a car that’s been developed side by side with Porsche’s Taycan, is slated for a debut next year. Therefore, the 2021 e-tron GT will share the same 800-volt electric architecture like the Taycan, and previous rumors tipped it to produce in the region of 590 horsepower.

A new report from AutoExpress, however, speaks about a power output of around 700 horsepower. Could this be unlocked via a high-spec model sitting at the very top of the e-tron GT range? It’s possible, but we’re still waiting to hear more from Audi on that front.

We Drove 8 Electric Cars Over 1200 Miles in Real Conditions So You Don’t Have To

As it turns out, not all electric cars are created equal

Electric cars are not absolute newcomers to the car industry anymore. Over the past five years or so, most carmakers have churned out at least one electric car with plans to release a handful of others over the coming decade or so. The charging infrastructure has grown, too.

While this is obviously good news, it also leaves us (and the customer) with quite a big pond of EVs to choose from. To add more to the confusion and indecision, electric cars come in all shapes and sizes, set in motion by just one electric motor, two, or even three, and, obviously, very different price tags. Long story short, picking your next electric car might leave you scratching the top of your head. We get it.

Audi will join the battle soon with the e-tron GT and we just learned that the German company is also working on a hardcore RS version of the all-electric four-door. The e-tron GT is scheduled to go into production in 2020, so Audi will unveil the EV by the end of the year.

Audi E-Tron Models are Now Cheaper and the SUV Has More Range, But It’s Still Not Good Enough

Audi is trying to make the E-Tron SUV and Sportback Worth Buying, But I Still Can’t Get Onboard.

The Audi E-Tron SUV and Sportback are fairly amazing vehicles. I love the fact that they are electric but still look like a modern-day car without all the funky futuristic crap that some automakers try to put in there. The way I see it, both are – for the most part – perfect transitional vehicles. They have lots of technology but don’t go overboard. They provide decent performance and comfort, two things you’d expect from Audi. But, they aren’t without their flaws, and the two biggest – pricing and range – are finally starting to be addressed. Both models will get a big drop in pricing, and the E-Tron SUV will see a slight jump in range, but I’m sad to say that it’s still not enough.

The Audi e-tron has been on the market since last year, and it’s received positive feedback overall. As Far As Utility Goes, EVs Won’t Work - Audi Just Proved It

If you are planning to upgrade your current SUV with an EV in the coming years, this will not make you happy

Range anxiety is the biggest con of any EV today. Even though companies are constantly improving range figures and charging times, the fear of a depleting battery is still one of the biggest reasons why people are apprehensive to make the shift.

Things get worse when it comes to hauling and towing stuff. Since towing or hauling anything puts extra stress on the powertrain, the range is bound to take a hit; and Audi’s recent experiment just proved the same. So, as far as utility is concerned, EVs still have a long way to go until they replace internal combustion engined SUVs and trucks in all senses.

Audi’s New Electric Scooter Can Be Steered with Just One Hand

Thanks to an unorthodox design, you’ll have one hand free, but we hope it’s not for text messaging

Well, we guess this one was coming sooner or later: Audi has just launched an electric scooter that has e-tron embedded in its name and we can’t stop wondering how come the announcement came just a month or so after BMW highlighted plans to build its own such contraption. Nonetheless, is this a sign that carmakers are looking to branch out into other sectors that involve some sort of means of transportation? Well, it could very well be, provided the numerous study they carry out have pointed that this would be a profitable piece of the pie. And we know for sure that people have the hots for electric scooters to the same amount they crave crossovers. Therefore, from a theoretical view, selling e-scooters might bring some extra profit to a car manufacturer. After all, some of them have been building bikes for quite some time (think Porsche and BMW, for a change) so moving on to electric scooters doesn’t seem that much of a stretch, does it?

See How the Audi e-Tron, Toyota RAV4, Lexus UX, and VW T-Cross Perform in our Mega Crash Test Video

Are they really the safest SUV’s of today?

You would think that with modern technology, advanced materials, and organizations like the NHTSA and IIHS, every car on the road would be as safe as possible. But, we don’t live in a perfect world and, as such, that clearly isn’t the case. Some SUVs are safer than others as are some cars and trucks. It’s easy to look at a few crash tests and think that the most mangled car is just outright dangerous to be in. That’s also not the case as, sometimes, the cars that look the worst are actually the safest because all that exterior mayhem actually prevents mayhem from happening inside the cabin.

All of that said, crash tests are fun to watch, and it’s fun to see how some of the worlds most popular vehicles actually perform in their worst moments. So, we’ve compiled a video that showcases the Audi e-Tron, Toyota RAV4, Lexus UX, and VW T-Cross during their crash testing. Which one came out the best? Watch the video below to find out!

The 2020 Audi E-Tron Comes From a CO2 Neutral Production Plant in Brussels

If EVs will be truly green, they need a green production process as well

Committed to making its facilities carbon-neutral by 2030, Audi started with the e-tron multi-structure plant that covers 540,000 square-meters and is located in Brussels, Belgium. Audi improved the body shop, paint shop, and assembly shop and added a new battery manufacturing plant.

The Brussels facility is blanketed with a 37,000-square-meter photovoltaic system. This enables the generation of more than 3,000 megawatt-hours of electricity, thus saving 700 metric tons of CO2 per year. The Brussels plant is the first in the world with certified carbon-neutral production in the premium auto segment.

Volkswagen also made an eco promise. By the end of the year the Stuttgart factory, set to start producing all-electric Porsche Taycans, will be carbon-neutral as well.

How Much is the Audi E-Tron GT Concept Going to Change as it Shifts Into Production?

Let’s hope Audi’s Design Boss is a man of his word

We were all stunned by the looks of Audi’s E-Tron GT Concept that the German Automaker unexpectedly unveiled at the L.A. Autoshow. The electric four-door coupe is slated to become the benchmark performance model in the E-Tron range and is co-developed with Audi’s competition arm, Audi Sport. What is more, the outlandish design is set to remain vastly unchanged when the car enters production in 2020, if we are to believe Audi’s design boss, Marc Lichte.

I’m a fan of the E-Tron GT Concept, and I’m not a fan of too many new cars. That’s why I wrote in my previous pieces on the subject of this car that I hope it will remain intact - from a visual standpoint - when it hits showrooms in less than two year’s time. Now, we hear that Marc Lichte confirmed to the media at a roundtable organized during the L.A. Auto Show that most of the sheet metal we see on the concept will be carried over to the production car. You can imagine some alterations will be made, mostly in the name of safety, but that should be it.

The Audi E-Tron GT Concept’s Appearance in Avengers 4 Signals Audi’s Return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Tony Stark has a brand-new ride that’s going to make us green with envy

We’re two days away from the highly anticipated first trailer for Avengers 4, but an early surprise was revealed at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show: the Audi e-Tron GT Concept will star in the blockbuster movie. Audi’s involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t a new plot. But it’s been a while since we last saw a prominent Audi appear in any of the recent MCU films. That’s about to change when the e-Tron GT Concept shows up in what could be the biggest blockbuster of the 2019 movie calendar. If history is any indication, Audi’s future flagship electric sedan will be the ride-of-choice of Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man.

2018 Audi e-Tron GT Concept

A preview of Audi’s flagship EV

Audi is as committed as anybody to an EV future, and the unveiling of the e-Tron GT Concept at the 2018 L.A. Auto Show further illustrates the desire of the German automaker to have an EV for everyone. The e-Tron GT will be the car for those who love to go fast in a 4-door coupe body. Its stablemate, the Taycan, as well as Tesla’s Model S, are clear targets.

Recently, Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier criticized German automakers for making boring-looking electric cars. "I really wonder when you, Mr. Zetsche, or you, Mr. Diess, or Mr. Krüger of BMW will be able to build an electric car that is only half as sexy as one Tesla," he said in his sharp remark. As if trying to prove the government official wrong, Audi unexpectedly showed up in L.A. with the e-Tron GT concept that’s, well, stunning from every angle. And before you start yammering about how concept cars change down the path to production, Audi says this concept shows the almost production-ready model that will hit showrooms in 2020 for the 2021 model year.

Audi wants to have a fleet of 12 electric cars by 2025, and this will be its flagship. What it is, in short, is a shorter, more aggressive, A7. It will share the platform with Porsche’s Taycan, but the two manufacturers are coy to point out the similarities between the two models. Oh, and Robert Downey Jr. wasn’t a random VIP guest at the launch of the e-Tron GT, as the car will star in the upcoming Avengers 4 movie. If the car will look this good in production guise, then all the hype Audi’s building is worth it.

The Audi E-Tron GT Concept Previews an Electrically Powerful Future

Wonder why Audi is not marketing it as a sports car

It feels as though we have only been hearing about Audi’s e-Trons lately. Audi is producing various electric cars with the e-Tron moniker, and we have to admit they are causing a scare amongst other automakers. This time at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the German manufacturer has unveiled the Audi e-tron Concept GT - A future fighter that will go against the Tesla Model S.

According to Audi, the E-Tron GT Can Charge for 20 Minutes and Go Almost 200 Miles.

It will definitely give the Model S a run for its money

Audi has aimed its guns squarely at the Tesla Model S with its close-to-production e-Tron GT concept that it just unveiled at the 2018 LA Auto Show. It’s a very striking four-door coupe with very bold flanks and a pleasant old school vintage coke bottle shape when viewed from the side. It can also take an 80-percent charge (about 200-miles worth of electricity) in no more than 20 minutes. Take that, Tesla.

Don't Expect the 2020 Audi E-Tron GT, or any other Audi EV, to Ditch the Massive Grille

Don’t Expect the 2020 Audi E-Tron GT, or any other Audi EV, to Ditch the Massive Grille

It’s Audi’s face, after all, would you go out without your face?

Audi showed off the brand-new E-Tron GT Conceptat the L.A. Auto Show and, well, it’s a good looking car. For starters, it’s a well-balanced four-door luxury sports sedan, and I rarely let those words come out when talking about modern cars. It’s got those massive hips towards the back and an aggressive front end that features the oversized Audi grille. If you still don’t like it, you’re not going to agree with the looks of any upcoming Audis, electric or not, since the German manufacturer is keeping it.

The E-Tron GT Concept previews the third model in Audi’s EV lineup that also consists of the E-Tron, that hopes to topple the I-Pace and Mercedes’ EQC, and the E-Tron Sportback that’s slated for a 2019 release. The GT Concept will be here in production form by 2020, and it is positioned as the flagship model of the EV range. It’s roughly as big as an A7 and, if they keep those proportions intact, it will be quite a head-turner because it takes whatever was good about the A7 and A5 Sedan and turns the dial to 11 - including the unmistakable single-frame grille.

The Audi E-Tron GT Is a Firm Model S Competitor; Can Deliver Repeat Acceleration

Tesla Model S could have a worthy challenger if the e-Tron GT makes it to production

For now, the Tesla Model S lords over at the all-electric performance sedan segment. That could change, though, once the Porsche Taycan and Fisker eMotion hit the scene. But another would-be contender made its presence known at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. Don’t look now, but Audi wants a piece of that pie from Tesla, and its contender-of-choice is the all-electric e-Tron GT. Audi’s fresh offering actually shares its roots with the aforementioned Taycan, which isn’t surprising because the two are, technically, cousins in this endeavor. The e-Tron GT, though, stands out because Audi didn’t mince its intentions in the sedan’s build. The e-Tron GT was built for performance, and the numbers back it up.

Oh god, not this again!

Have you grown tired of Audi’s black, white and red camouflage seen on recent prototypes and production-ready cars? Well, it seems the German firm still finds the livery interesting and just slapped it on the e-tron GT ahead of its big unveiling at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show.

7 Electric SUVs And What They Bring to the Table

They are all kind of the same, really

With the short, but obvious invasion of electric SUVs on the market, I am quite interested in what all of those machines bring. Many of the major manufacturers invested heavily in introducing a new generation of electric SUVs with Mercedes, Audi, Jaguar, and BMW coming long after Tesla actually sparked the creation of the entire segment with the Model X.

Now, with a number of electric SUVs on the market one would expect some radically different thinking behind a seemingly similar car, but that may not be the case. Aside from five expensive electric SUVs (the I-Pace, the Model X, the EQ C, the E-Tron and theiX3 Concept), the only ones that were brave enough to give the market an electric shock are Hyundai and Kia with the Kona Electric and the Niro EV. So, learn here what all of them bring to the table and how do they differ.

Watch Out Tesla Model S - The Audi E-tron GT Will be All About Power

An Audi E-tron GT With Porsche Tech To Take On The Model S 100D?

The Audi E-tron GT is coming, and it will, by all accounts, be epic. Ever since Tesla made such glorious strides in the electric car fandom, the car world has been waiting for the rest of the big automakers to catch up. With the introduction of numerous expensive electric SUVs in the past couple of years, the car community as a whole gained the much needed electric car boost. But a true Tesla Model S competitor was still nowhere to be found. Until now. The Audi E-tron GT will be its competitor. And I am not the only one to say it. Siegfried Pint, Head of Development for Electric Drive at Audi, said that the new car is “steered towards performance.”
