2017 Arcadia SHERPA

2017 Arcadia SHERPA

SHERPA is a forward thinking design yacht

SHERPA is a “forward thinking design yacht” with an overall length of 17,70m and a width/beam of 5,60m, even more marked by the concept of "open space" of the aft cockpit to which Arcadia has accustomed us since its debut. A compact sizeable to confirm all of the key factors of bigger yachts available in the range of the yard (internal/external areas and volumes, high-performance efficient hull, minimalist and neat interiors). SHERPA can be perfectly compared to much larger boats (65 ft) for her LWL (16,10m) and beam (5,60m).

The efficient length/width ratio given by the specific NPL hull is another factor that contributes to the unbelievable volumes of the yacht, and, at the same time, it’s certainly a winning factor for potential customers oriented towards yachts of this size.

As usual, Guida Design has been responsible for the design and naval architecture of this innovative model, in collaboration with the technical department of Arcadia Yachts.

SHERPA is the natural evolution of Arcadia fleet towards reduced size boats. This amazing small yacht manages to keep integral in only 58 feet the vision and features that make each Arcadia yacht different from the rest of its competitors, having also given to the volumes on board a new concept of distribution, aimed at putting forth areas more used by guests, such as the stern cockpit, the living area, and cabins.

Porsche's Newest Vehicle Handles Like a Boat!

Porsche’s Newest Vehicle Handles Like a Boat!

But not just any boat – a $16M Superyacht

Porsche purists balked when their beloved sports car company began building SUVs. “Oh, the Cayenne will drive like a boat,” sang the collective cry. Well, now those purists can truly say Porsche’s latest product will drive like a boat – only they’ll be begging their bankers to find $16 million as they slip on a nautical-theme pashmina afghan and flippy floppies. Porsche has built a yacht.

Okay, so technically it was Porsche’s design arm, Studio F.A., which collaborated with the yachtbuilder Dynamiq to build a Porsche-inspired superyacht called the Dynamiq GTT 115. The Porsche-styled inspiration includes houndstooth patterns throughout the cabin, the GTT 115 lettering along the hull, and the vertical lines on the ship’s T-top above the upper deck recall those accenting the 911 Targa’s B-pillar. Studio F.A. goes so far as to say the GTT 115 even shares the 911’s lines and proportions. That’s more than a stretch, but what else do you expect from PR buzz?

Not surprisingly, Porsche picked a solid yachtbuilder to associate with. Dynamiq is known for its aluminum hulls and advanced designs. The GTT 115 is no exception. Hinted by its name, the superyacht is 115 feet long. It’s also 23 feet wide and takes slightly less than five feet of water to float. There’s room for at least 12 people to sleep, depending on how the customers configure their cabin. And speaking of customers, there will only be seven. Yep, Dynamiq and Studio F.A. are limiting their collaboration to seven yachts, each with a price tag of $16,7 million. While that’s not surprising, the GTT 115’s powertrain might be. Keep reading for that.

Riva Unveils 100 Corsaro SuperYacht At Cannes Yachting Festival

Riva Unveils 100 Corsaro SuperYacht At Cannes Yachting Festival

With the Cannes Yachting Festival just concluding and the Southampton Boat Show on the docket, boat show season is completely in full swing. One yacht builder that has taken advantage of this is Riva, the Italian yacht builder that took the opportunity to launch its new super yacht, the 100 Corsaro.

The 100 Corsaro is the latest in a long line of spectacular yachts to come out of Riva. It’s no surprise that the company chose Cannes as the event to showcase its new pride and joy. The 29.90-meter 100 Corsaro really is a sight to behold. In addition to its sleep and modern styling, the superyacht can has over five staterooms, including three double cabins and one twin cabin on the lower deck for guests and an incredibly spacious master suite on the main deck.

The multi-deck configuration also provides enough space to have an outdoor dining setup, a sunbathing deck, and a well-appointed lounge on the bow. Inside one of the decks is an enormous living room setup that might as well be found inside a five-star hotel.

The 100 Corsaro is powered by a pair of MTU 16V 2000 engines that produces an incredible 2,638 horsepower. That number allows the yacht to achieve a crushing speed of 25 knots and a top speed of 29 knots, which for a boat its size is remarkable.

With all these features, it’s no wonder that the 100 Corsaro caught the attention of a lot of people at the Cannes Yachting Festival. In fact, it was such a hit during the show that the first unit of the superyacht was already taken shortly after its debut.

 $6-Million Superyacht Sinks Off Mykonos

$6-Million Superyacht Sinks Off Mykonos

It’s very rare to see boat enthusiasts find themselves with their jaws dropping on the floor. But that’s exactly what happened when a superyacht that costs $6 million sunk off the popular tourist island in Mykonos, Greece.

Multiple reports have come out saying that the yacht, thought to be a 106-foot 2009 Custom Line Navetta 33 named MY Aloha, ran aground of a reef between known tourist resorts of Platis Gialos and Psarrou late last week, causing it to sink to its untimely death.
A quick research revealed that Italian shipbuilder Custom Line built the MY Aloha for a private owner, who did not make the superyacht available for private charter. According to Yacht Charter Fleet, the Aloha has five cabins that can accommodate as many as 10 guests and a brand-new model would cost a buyer close to $11 million. The boat that sunk was a little over five years old with an estimated value of $6.2 million.

Fortunately, all four passengers who are on board the yacht at the time of the accident were rescued from the sinking yacht and taken back to shore in good health. That’s about the only positive thing to come out of this incredible ordeal.

Just so everybody’s on the same page. A sinking yacht, let alone one that costs $6 million, is very different from a car involved in a crash. Whereas the latter might still be salvaged if the conditions are right, a boat that makes a beeline for the ocean floor is about as done as done gets. There’s no retrieving it. All the owner can do is weep over the sight of $6 million literally getting swallowed up by the sea.

Port officials in Mykonos have launched an investigation into the incident and have set up a boom around the yacht to absorb any fuel that may seep into the sea.

Vasily Klyukin Envisions The Monaco 2050 Mega-Yacht

Vasily Klyukin Envisions The Monaco 2050 Mega-Yacht

Russian businessman and concept designer Vasily Klyukin has released his latest design masterpiece, and as you can expect from the man behind the White Sails Hospital & Spa in Tunisia Economic City (TEC), it’s absolutely spell-binding.

The design is called the Monaco 2050, a visually arresting futuristic mega-yachtthat can carry, among other things, a helicopter, or at least what Klyukin believes helicopters will look like in 35 years. It’s actually looks more like one of those jet gliders you see in Marvel movies, but that’s neither here nor there. What’s important is that it looks positively bonkers.

Klyukin didn’t dive into the specific details of the Monaco 2050, only showing us design renderings of the mega yacht in full bloom. Based on these renderings and the accompanying video teaser, the Monaco 2050 is massive. It has, by my count, at least three levels, each presumably coming with enough luxury refinements and extravagant amenities to make the Prince of Monaco, Albert II, gush in envy. While we don’t get to see all the goodies Klyukin added in the interior of the Monaco 2050, we do get a clear view of one of the yacht’s most central features: the helicopter/jet glider.

Yep. What you see sitting on the top deck of the Monaco 2050 is an aircraft with enough jet engines to fly long distances. Once the aircraft needs to land, all the pilot has to do is sit it down in the helipad on the deck. Sounds pretty simple, right?

The truth is, I don’t know if this yacht will ever come to fruition, although when it comes to Kluykin, anything’s really possible.

So if any of you lives to see 2050, be on the lookout for the Monaco 2050.

Chinese Company Set To Build Life-Size Replica Of The Titanic

Chinese Company Set To Build Life-Size Replica Of The Titanic

A Chinese company with presumably too much money and time on its hands has announced plans to build a life-sized replica of the RMS Titanic. You read that right. The Titanic, the same mega cruise ship that sunk in the Atlantic Ocean back in 1912, is getting a do-over.

Ok, that’s not entirely accurate. The Chinese Titanic, if you can even call it that, won’t be fully functional. In fact, it’s going to be a stand-still replica that will double as a museum and a theme park of sorts. If only the Irish folks behind the construction of the original Titanic thought of the same thing 113 years ago.

In any case, plans to build the replica Titanic actually began in 2013, when Seven Star Energy Group announced its intention to build the iconic cruise ship based on a majority of its design papers and with the help of an American high technology company. Apparently, this includes exact design replicas of both the ship’s exterior and interior, right down to the large dining halls and high-end hotels.

The project is expected to be completed in 2017, after which the replica Titanic will be prominently displayed on the Qi River at a theme park in Sichuan Province. There’s even talk that once it’s completed, the Chinese Titanic will be able to simulate the feeling of hitting an iceberg, much like the original Titanic, which eventually led to its sinking.

Yacht Island Design Introduces Incredible Island-On-A-Yacht Concept

Yacht Island Design Introduces Incredible Island-On-A-Yacht Concept

Yacht Island Design is no stranger to designing some of the most ludicrous luxury yacht concepts you’ll ever see. Whether its putting a real-life interpretation of Monaco in a yacht or simply building a UFO-shaped metropolis in the ocean, the British design firm’s imagination really has no limits. Further proof of that lies in its latest masterpiece, a yet-to-be-named concept that can be best described as an island on a yacht.

Yep. An island on a yacht.

The premise of the concept is as it’s described: it’s an enormous luxury yacht that has all the opulent bells and whistles of a six-star hotel with a tropical island resort thrown in for good measure. Don’t feel too bad if you’re coming up short on ways to react to this piece of art because I’ll keep you company.

How do you even begin to describe a luxury yacht that has guest cabanas, a makeshift volcano, and a waterfall that drops from the aforementioned makeshift volcano into a huge, lagoon-like swimming pool? Oh, and that’s just what you see from the outside.

Once you move indoors, or in this case, inside the volcano, you’ll come across two decks of private suites with a matching private spa. Other amenities include an actual movie theater, a library, a game room, and a gym, although you probably would have a difficult time finding these places because this yacht is so freaking huge to begin with.

Granted, this super duper luxury yacht is still a concept and there’s no telling whether Yacht Island Design will be able to build one if some flushed-with-money billionaire decides to graduate from his supercars and move into purchasing a real titan of the ocean like this concept.

But on the slight chance that it does happen, I’d pay to see what the real thing would look like.
