Life is about three things folks. Food. Motorcycles. Music. They have an aura about them that can take you to places no other substitute would do, and the solitude you find in each one of them can become hypnotic. And if you can find all of these under the same roof, a roof that once primarily used to store tobacco at the beginning of the 19th century, you do not need permission from your mother to get there.

Called ‘The Bike Shed’, this restaurant/café/lounge plays host to Europe’s biggest and best independent annual motorcycle show. Custom motorcycles, art, photography, live music, bars, great coffee, quality street-food, lounges, whiskey bar, cigar lounge, barbershop, tattoos and much more, all under one roof.

The history of Ducati is driven by a unique engineering talent that has always generated motorcycles of unmistakable design and most profound sporting spirit. The Monster is no different. Which is why Ducati has planned a big bash for its 25th anniversary inviting all monsteristi to a Sunday Ride Classic, 24 March at Le Castellet, France.

The busy program includes many other events celebrating Ducati’s naked machine apart from the special celebratory parade. It will include the original Monster 900 MY1993 displayed at the Ducati Museum, an exhibition of special and custom Monsters and various contests.

Harley-Davidson has been giving us resilient machines ever since they began their stunt back in 1903. This year, the Bar & Shield brand turns 115-years-old, and the company plans to leave no stone unturned to celebrate it with its fans worldwide. Bikers and non-bikers alike.

Harley has always celebrated such milestones with a bang, be it their first ever one on their 85th, 100th, or their 110th anniversaries, and each has surpassed their previous celebrations by a huge way. This time too the brand plans of treating everyone with a cynosure and for the first time, Harley invites those non-riders as well to enjoy the big bash set for August 29 – September 2.

The House of Machines is a brand-new franchise that serves passion for motorcycling and everything that goes with it. They do this through involvement and collaboration with motorcycle brands, and their first stint in the US is with the German stalwart, BMW Motorrad.

Triumph has been the oldest British motorcycle manufacturer that has a rich 115 years of heritage. Expressing this to the world, the Hinckley firm has built a brand new Factory Visitor Center for £4million ($5.3 million) spanning across eight distinctly-themed areas that combine to create a full Triumph experience.

Showcasing the brand’s achievements in design, engineering, racing and popular culture, the visitor center will allow fans to get behind the scene through both historic and modern era of motorcycles and legends riding them.

Triumph Motorcycles is no stranger when it comes to supporting events it believes is worth its time. One such event is the Motoblot, a motorcycle rally held annually in Chicago. Beginning in 2015 through 2016, Triumph will be lending its name as a main sponsor of the event, which will now be called the Progressive Insurance Motoblot Chicago powered by Triumph.

The event takes place from June 25 to 28, 2015, and like the previous 10 years of its existence, Motoblot continues the tradition of celebrating motorcycling’s rich heritage and lifestyle, complete with events, live music, and the customary meet and greets among motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the US.

This year’s event is loaded to the brim with events, none more important it seems than the Iron Moto Challenge, a custom build off competition that involves customizing a Triumph motorcycle. Four teams will vie for the top prize in this competition, including three Triumph dealerships in Chicago - Motoworks Chicago, Windy City and Woodstock - and a private builder serving as the fourth competitor.

As for Triumph, the motorcycle company’s involvement with the event isn’t just limited to having its name on the banner. It’s also going to display its lineup of motorcycles and more importantly, it’s going to offer a $500 voucher that the winner can use on Triumph’s parts and accessories, as well as goodies from the company’s own online shopping site, shop.triumphmotorcycles.com.

There’s a lot about the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally that has turned it into one of the most eagerly anticipated motorcycle riding events in the calendar. That sentiment has been around for the past 75 years and with Harley-Davidson signing up to be the event’s official partner for the next 75, we’re going to see a whole lot of the rally for the next three-quarters of a century. Sure, we already know what the event means to us, but do we really know what it means to other riders who make the annual pilgrimage into the Black Hills of South Dakota? Well, Why We Ride Films intends to answer that question with a new documentary it’s calling “I Am Sturgis.”

The documentary is still in its production phase with Why We Ride Films hoping to finish the film sometime in the summer of 2016. Needless to say, this year’s rally will play a huge role in the development of the documentary, an appropriate choice for the producers since we’re celebrating the rally’s 75th anniversary this year.

But before “I Am Sturgis” gets off the ground, the firm behind its development is right smack in the middle of generating funds for production. In fact, a 60-day Kickstarter campaign was launched just a week ago with the hope of raising $350,000 to fund the production of the documentary. As of my last visit to its Kickstarter page, the campaign has already received $18,593 coming from 65 different backers.

I don’t need to remind you that if you want to see the project go through, you should do your part and help fund it. The campaign is taking donations ranging from $5 all the way up to $10,000, ensuring that there’s no amount the studio won’ take to help get the documentary up and running.

There are 54 days left to Why We Ride’s Kickstarter campaign so there’s still a lot of time to make a contribution.

The days are getting longer and the wisteria is in bloom, which means Spring has sprung and another Memorial Day Blowout is right around the corner. The ASGARD M.C. is preparing to host their 33rd Annual Blowout at the Gulfport Dragway in Gulfport, Mississippi. This four-day event will run from May 22nd through the 25th, and the gates are open 24 hours a day. Plenty of events are scheduled, including drag races, and ’biker events’ such as the slow race, weenie bite contest, ring toss, barrel race, bike show and tattoo contest. The contests are open to all, and are run-what-you-brung, so come on down and bring your “A game.” Lots of vendors will be on hand to meet all of your food and beverage needs, with plenty of biker apparel and what-nots. There is room for RV parking and primitive camping for those who are so inclined, with close proximity to hotels for those who prefer a hot shower and cold AC. Entry fees are $40 per person for the entire weekend plus $20 per non-bike vehicle, or $20 per person (plus vehicle fee) for Sunday-only access. The good times are not limited to the event itself however, as there are plenty of restaurants and casinos in the area in case you decide to seek alternative entertainment off the gated private property on which the event is held. A pilgrimage to Sturgis, South Dakota is a must for any motorcycle rider in the US. This year, there’s an extra incentive to go to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and we have famed photographer Michael Lichter to thank for it. Together with organizers of the annual rally, Lichter is scheduled to present an exhibit unlike any other, featuring 35 of the best bike builders in the world. It’s called “The Naked Truth - 35 Customs / 35 Years / Motorcycle Exposed,” and as you can expect, it’s going to feature some of the finest bike builds you’ll ever see, all of which were created specifically for this exhibit.

Unlike other exhibits, the Naked Truth will prominently feature these rolling metal sculptures up-close-and-personal. No glass casings here, ladies and gentlemen. Just elevated pedestals, proudly displaying these naked bikes, bereft with paint and graphics for the entire world to see. Basically, this is where real bike builders separate themselves from the rest of the flock. Without the benefit of sick paint jobs and graphics, these creations visually highlight the true ethos of real bike builders with absolutely no filters separating the final work from the hands that built them.

The Naked Truth exhibit will be exclusively shown at the rally’s Motorcycles as Art Exhibition from August 1 to August 8, 2015 at the Russ Brown Events Center. Admission is free to the public, giving riders no reason not to see this one-of-a-kind showcase of the best bike builders doing what they absolutely do best.

Ask any motorcycle enthusiast where Sturgis is and that person can probably pinpoint the exact location of the small South Dakota city in any map. That’s the kind of love and affection riders have for the city that has hosted the biggest motorcycle gathering in the US for the past 74 years. This year marks the 75th anniversary of bike convergence in Sturgis, making it the perfect time for Harley-Davidson, one of the most well-represented brands in the annual event, to step in and ensure that Sturgis lives on for another 75 years.

The American bike maker has just signed a deal with the city, making Harley-Davidson the official motorcycle of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. That’s a distinction Harley-Davidson will be proud to wear. More importantly, the deal sets up the rally for at least until 2090. I don’t think I’ll be able to live that long, but apparently, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally will.

As part of the deal between the city and Harley-Davidson, the latter will build a permanent structure on the main street in the town for events all year round. The road towards building this structure began when a 2015 Harley-Davidson Street 750 motorcycle tore a brick out of the company’s Milwaukee headquarters. That brick, another one from the brand’s museum, and 73 others from the headquarter’s parking lots will all be part of the new building in Sturgis. Once completed, the location will be able to accommodate a wide variety of events, including concerts, weddings, and obviously, motorcycle gatherings.

Harley expects to finish the project in time for the 75th rally this August, so in the event you’ve already circled Sturgis on your calendars, this is one part about this year’s festivities - and the 75 more to follow - that you can look forward to.
