Daytona Beach Bike Week 2017

Daytona Beach Bike Week 2017

Mardi Gras is here and that means Spring has done sprung, and another Daytona bike week is right around the corner. The 76th Annual event runs from March 10th through the 19th this year, and it looks to live up to its reputation for ample entertainment once again. As always, Harley-Davidson will act as the official brand for the event — fitting since the Daytona event has long been used by the factory as a venue to stage a next-year preview for its licensed dealers. H-D will have models on hand for test rides, and will contribute with a kick-off party complete with musical entertainment courtesy of “Hairball,” as well as a women’s ride and other HOG-based events. Race fans will have plenty on their plates with the American Flat Track Daytona TT at the Daytona International Speedway on March 16th, plus the opening event of the NHRA Mello Yellow Drag Racing Series from the 16th through the 19th in nearby Gainsville, Florida. As you might imagine, the full schedule of events is exhaustive and can be referenced in detail in multiple locations. Check the Daytona Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce webpage or the Official Bike Week website.

Daytona Beach Bike Week 2016

Daytona Beach Bike Week 2016

There’s an electricity in the Spring air as another Daytona Beach Bike Week is upon us. In fact, this year marks the 75th Anniversary of “the beach” bike rally, and it looks to be going as strongly as ever with hundreds of thousands of bikers in attendance in recent years. That’s right folks, in case time got behind you, the rally runs from March 4th through March 13th this year, and you have only days to prepare.

Oh, you can abandon all hope of scoring a hotel room in the area at this late hour, but for those willing to put up with a bit of a commute may yet find a room withing riding range, and folks with RVs or camping gear may be able to find something closer to the action. If you find yourself unable to secure reasonable lodging, take a lesson from this to go ahead and reserve a room/site for next year before they all fill up again.

2015 Daytona Bike Week Rides to Benefit Kids and Critters

2015 Daytona Bike Week Rides to Benefit Kids and Critters

If you know any rough, tough, hard-core bikers, you know there are at least two things that soften their hearts: kids and animals in need. Today at the 2015 Bike Week in Daytona, all those things came together. Sponsored by the Iron Horse Saloon for the Halifax Humane Society, the Ruff Ride & Poker Run kicked off from the HHS Shelter at 2364 LPGA Boulevard, with stops at The Hideout, Roadside Tavern, Diamondbacks and the Iron Horse Saloon.

Dinner, drinks, swag and live entertainment wrapped up the event to benefit abused and abandoned animals in the community. This morning, the Elks hosted a biker’s breakfast followed by a bingo run for the Elks Youth Camp in Umatilla, Florida. With stops at four other Elk Lodges, the run wrapped up at the Port Orange Lodge with a spaghetti dinner. The run wouldn’t be complete without door prizes, run prizes, a raffle and auction.

H-D Muscular Dystrophy Women's Ride at Daytona

H-D Muscular Dystrophy Women’s Ride at Daytona

Who doesn’t love biker chicks? This morning Harley-Davidson launched the 8th annual Women’s Ride in conjunction with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) at Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Florida. My fellow female riders had to raise at least $50.00 each for the MDA by March 10th in order to qualify to participate in the ride, and who wouldn’t want to do that? Fifty riders took part, raising a grand total of $11,743.13, which was well short of their projected goal of $25,000, but still a grand contribution to a good cause. The ladies were scheduled to go “kickstands up” at 10 am in what looked to be a pristine spring day of riding and camaraderie. All the gals received a commemorative pin and a special Women’s Ride flag to display their support, and there was lots of other swag to be handed out to riders who raised $150.00 or more. The top participants in descending order of donation amounts were; Tina Railer, Caj Pinero, Linda Kersey, Rain Tabraham Winter and Wende Brown, who collectively raised just shy of $2,500.00 themselves. Let’s give a high-five to Bruce Rossmeyer’s Daytona H-D, FloridaFullThrottle.com and BikersPost.com for sponsoring this great event.

Daytona Bike Week Gets Rollin'!

Daytona Bike Week Gets Rollin’!

The 74th annual Daytona Beach Bike Week kicked off Friday, March 6th, and things got started with a bang! The Geico AMA EnduroCross Championship opened its 2015 season in a first-ever appearance during bike week. As if to make sure that none of the dirt-racing enthusiasts were wanting, the Daytona Supercross followed on Saturday. Harley riders had an event at Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona, and Harley-Davidson set up a huge display of the 2015 models at the International Speedway. “Sons of Anarchy” fans were treated to a visit from Kim “Tig Trager” Coates on Saturday and Sunday. I know, some people love “Sons,” some people hate ’em and some love ’em but will never admit it! You are free to speculate as to which category I fall into. On the subject of clubs; HOG will be hosting a rally at the Speedway. We are still in the early stages of the “Week,” and are sure to see plenty more cool events as it progresses.

Victory Teases Magnum X-1 Ahead of Daytona Bike Week Launch

Victory Teases Magnum X-1 Ahead of Daytona Bike Week Launch

Victory Motorcycles is preparing a new model that it’s touting as a game-changer in the cruiser market. I’ve seen this kind of song and dance number before, but this bike looks like it’s the real deal. Real enough, at least, to deserve it’s own unveiling at the Daytona Bike Week on March 2015.

The model has been christened with the name Magnum X-1, an all-new trim of the Magnum bagger that was only introduced last July 2014. You would think that Victory would want to let its newest cruiser simmer for a little bit before jumping in with a new trim to the family, but it looks like the company is putting all its chips on the table with an X-1 model that will be loaded with accessories.

The unveiling is still a few weeks away, but from what I’ve heard, Victory is going all-out on the Magnum X-1 with a bevy of new goodies included into the bike, including a custom paint finish and a revamped audio system that will likely turn it into its own version of a mobile music turnstile on two wheels.

I’m not going to divulge the details until after the jump, but rest assured, Victory appears to be puling out all the stops to bring us the Magnum X-1. Judging by photos that have been released, the British motorcycle company just might be on to something here.

Daytona Beach Motorcycle Show hosts the Ultimate Custom Bike Builder Championship

Daytona Beach Motorcycle Show hosts the Ultimate Custom Bike Builder Championship

It’s Daytona Bike Week in Florida and part of the festivities will be the 2012 Daytona Beach Motorcycle Show where guests will be treated to a plethora of killer bikes, as well as celebrity guests and the presentation of the Ultimate Custom Bike Builder!

One of the more well-known names of the event will be Paul Teutul, Jr., the star of Discovery Channel’s hit series Senior vs Junior American Choppers. He and his cast will be available to sign autographs, and will also be showcasing popular creations such as the “Anti-Venom”, “Jared Allen”, “Black Widow”, “Gears of War”, and “Build-Off Bike”. Their biggest crowd-pleaser, however, will be the unveiling of an all-new custom bike. And if you attend the show on Saturday, March 17, 2012, you will also get the chance to be present during a live filming of an episode of American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior, set to air the following week, on March 26, 2012 at 9 p.m. EST, on the Discovery Channel.

Other well-known builders from across the country will also be present, displaying their custom bikes and hoping to win the top prize and title of Ultimate Custom Bike Builder. Custom bikes will be everywhere and will feature amazing components such as specialty additions of Wii consoles, seats made of alligator skin, custom rims, military bikes made in fallen soldiers’ honors and more, including a builder who created a custom bike dedicated to breast cancer awareness, in cooperation with his local Susan G. Komen foundation.

The Ultimate Custom Bike Builder United States Championship will include an awards ceremony with over $14,000 in available winnings. Both local and contests from across the country will showcase their custom creations, but awards aren’t the only thing keeping the fans there. The Daytona Beach Motorcycle Show will also include gravity-defying performances from the Smage Bros Stunt Show of America’s Got Talent Fame, a vintage motorcycle showcase as part of “A Century of Motorcycling” Presented by Motorcyclist Magazine, and a huge motorcycle marketplace with the latest riding gear, apparel, and accessories.

Fans can begin the tour of custom bikes from the Daytona Beach Motorcycle Show on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 (12 p.m. – 6 p.m.), but can also attend on Thursday, March 15, 2012 (11 am – 7 pm) and Friday, March 16, 2012 (11 am – 7 pm). If you’re only looking to check out some of the amazing bikes in attendance, then these will be the days to avoid the crowds because Saturday, March 17, 2012 (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.) will more than likely be the busiest day to attend with the live taping of Senior vs Junior American Choppers taking place. The best part about the Daytona Beach Motorcycle Show is that the admission is FREE.

Of course, if you want to show up a little earlier, Daytona Bike week officially began on Friday, March 9, 2012, and ends Sunday, March 18, 2012.

V10-engined Boss Hoss cries for Millyard Viper V10's notoriety

V10-engined Boss Hoss cries for Millyard Viper V10’s notoriety

Our recent post about the Millyard Viper V10 motorcycle started our curiosity regarding such huge powerplants being mounted on vehicles that are supposed to be fast, but also very agile. Our luck was to come across yet another two-wheeler powered by the same 8.0-litre V10 engine donated by a Dodge Viper car. It seems that this is a Boss Hoss motorcycle (originally powered a V8 engine) that got a serious upgrade.

The pictures were taken a few years back in Daytona, so it seems that the V10 thought has been haunting innovative minds for quite a while now. They actually show a nice (big, but nice) looking bike with a supercar (instead of muscle car) engine, but that’s pretty much it. Should I even remind you that Allen Millyard’s bike is an entirely new creation?
