The Tesla Model S Plaid has been kicking ass ever since it was launched. Its straight-line sprints have been nothing but impressive. The car comes with ridiculous performance specs, with one of them being a quarter-mile time of 9.23 seconds. Many drivers have attempted to break the record and some have successfully managed to do it, but none of them were able to slip under the nine-second mark… until now. A Plaid owner has clocked a time of 8.994 seconds to set a new record! How long do you think it will stay?

In one of his most recent videos, Doug DeMuro checks out one of the weirdest modern cars to ever hit the road, the 2006 Citroën C6. It was the French automaker’s flagship car between 2005-2012, although, the C6 was never sold in North America.

It went up against models like the Mercedes Benz E Class and the BMW 5 Series. This particular example is currently on display at the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, Tennessee.

There have been more full-scale Lego builds than we can honestly count, but the most memorable of all happened back in 2016 when Land Rover set a record for the largest Lego structure ever built. That record held strong for a while, but it has now been broken over in Saudi Arabia by, of all things, a Formula 1 car.

The Model S Plaid set a new record for the fastest production EV at the Nürburgring, snatching the record from Porsche. Elon Musk confirmed this on Twitter, but Tesla also uploaded a video of the run from Model S Plaid’s onboard camera. It seems like a pretty neat view of the action, but there’s something else that caught our attention – the top speed.

The driver managed to touch 269 kph, or 167.14 mph, in this run, which is the best the car has done to date.

The Tesla Model S Plaid has been spied at the Nürburgring numerous times in the past and the only logical explanation was it attempting to break the record for the fastest production EV. Now, the cat’s out of the bag. Elon Musk tweeted to confirm that the Model S Plaid has officially set a new record, dethroning the Porsche Taycan and beating its record by a margin of 12 seconds!

Skoda is mostly associated with affordable and sensible vehicles for pragmatic people. However, that doesn’t mean all of them are boring. In fact, the Octavia RS has always been based on the VW Golf GTI and is something of a sleeper. The story of this particular one started 10 years ago, on August 19th, 2011, when it set a speed record. The humble Skoda was dubbed the Bonneville Special and after serious modifications, it went to the Bonneville salt flats in Utah and managed a 227.080 mph (365 km/h).

From spanking the Nissan GT-R’s ass to obliterating a Porsche Taycan Turbo S, the only real competition it has faced so far was from a remote control car!

To further cement its legacy as the quarter-mile king, the Model S Plaid has beaten its own record within a couple of months of setting a record. This time, it recorded a time of 9.081 seconds! The way it’s going, this record might also be broken soon.

The 2022 Audi RS3 sets a new record at the Nordschleife. The new best time for a lap around the famed 12.9-mile German circuit, in the compact car class now stands at 7:40.748 minutes. It beat the previous record-holder, the Renault Megane RS Trophy-R by more than 4.5 seconds.

Renowned Drag Racer, Bob Tasca III, drove a one-of-a-kind Ford Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 to a quarter-mile time of 8.12 seconds at 171 mph at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio, shattering the previous record of 8.27 seconds established in its debut last October.
Because this new class isn’t that hot yet, the Mustang Cobra Jet has been breaking its own quarter-mile record for full-bodied all-electric racing vehicles.

Lately, the Ford Mustang Mach-E has been the most talked-about EV. It was initially met by mixed reactions as Ford not only slapped the Mustang name on it, previously belonging exclusively to the two-door pony car, but they also gave it many of the Mustang’s design elements, such as the front fascia and the tri-bar taillights. However, as it turns out, the Mach-E has one key redeeming feature, as it recently got into the Guinness world records book thanks to its efficiency.

Porsche has achieved a new milestone for a road-legal production sports car on the 13-mile Nürburgring-Nordschleife with a 911 GT2 RS courtesy of the Manthey performance upgrade. This new record of 6:43:30 surpassed the previous benchmark of 6:43:62 that was set by the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.

There have been rumors for a while now about Porsche working on a new performance-oriented variant of its Cayenne Coupé. As always, the sense and nonsense of such a vehicle can be argued at length, but the fact that the folks at Zuffenhausen know a thing or two about how to make an SUV fast is no secret, and now we have even more proof.

Porsche has been in the habit of setting records recently, and it’s added another one to its name. Unbroken and unsurpassed since 2013, the Guinness World Record title for the fastest indoor land speed record has sat on the shelf of Tanner Foust, who clocked in a record speed of 86 mph back in 2013. That record has now gone by the wayside, thanks to Porsche and professional racer Leh Keen. Driving a Taycan Turbo S, Keen hit a top speed of 102.6 mph, eviscerating the previous record by more than 16 mph. As if owning the Guinness World Record for longest drift by an electric car — 210 laps — wasn’t enough, the record-breaking Taycan has another one in the bag.

The SSC Tuatara’s claim as the fastest production car in the world appears to finally have some legitimacy to it after the American hypercar clocked a record-setting, two-way average speed of 282.6 mph at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds that’s located on the premises of the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The new attempt at the top speed record comes a few months after SSC came under heavy scrutiny for claiming that the Tuatara had reached a top speed of 331.1 mph. Inconsistencies with the videos that SSC released to the media led to people questioning the validity of SSC’s claims, to which the automaker responded by saying that it would attempt another record run. Well, that record run has happened, and unless SSC makes another monumental snafu in verifying the validity of this new record run, it does appear that the Tuatara hypercar is now the fastest production car in the world.
