Best April Fools Gags 2021

Best April Fools Gags 2021

Here’s a list of five pranks automakers pulled this year that caught our attention

April Fools pranks are still a thing and it’s not just for kids. Automakers try to pull pranks on the enthusiasts at times, too. Some happen to be a hit and some a miss. There was one by Volkswagen this year where it said it’s renaming itself as ‘Voltswagen’ in the States. It sure got a little more controversial than the automaker would’ve wanted. Heck, we pulled off some awesome, super-cool, fun, pranks this time for you guys which were definitely a hit. No doubt about that. (Modesty? What’s that?)

Anyway, there were a few more gags that automakers tried to pull on us this year, and here are some of the best ones.

This Beat-Up Lada Has Rear Legs, ’Walks’ Around Like It’s Nothing

Welcome to Mother Russia!

Car tuners in America are often geared towards power, power, and more power. Car tuners in Europe, on the other hand, are more sophisticated in their approach, preferring to cover all the bases required of a proper tuning setup.

Then there are car tuners in Russia, a lot of whom aren’t bashful about veering into the crazy side of car tuning. Russian tuner Garage 54 is probably best known for this approach, and when it collaborates with car-crazy Russian YouTube channel Workroom Siberia, you get projects like the Lada Walker, a beat-up Lada that’s been custom-tuned to walk. Yes, walk. Welcome to Mother Russia, folks.

2016 Ferrari GTC4Lusso Sleigh 2.0

2016 Ferrari GTC4Lusso Sleigh 2.0

The ultimate in Christmas present delivery for the one and only

Here at TopSpeed, we’ve got a closely guarded secret, but we’ve finally decided to spill the beans. See, for the last 10 years, we’ve been on Santa’s advisory board and are tasked with helping him plan his annual trip around the world. Usually, we advise him of what new vehicles are best for transporting presents and help him plan out his trip. However, this year, he asked us to kick it up a notch and help him design an all-new sleigh that will not only give Rudolph and the rest of the gang a much-needed rest but will also get him around the world in style and luxury. It took us four months just to decided which model to start out with, but in the end, we developed the GTC4Lusso Sleigh 2.0.

Santa is more than happy with the sleigh we’ve come up with, and it’s already been through extensive testing in preparation for the big day. Based on the 2016 Ferrari GTC4Lusso, you know the big man is traveling in luxuriousness, and he can obviously get there quickly too. But, there’s a lot more than what meets the eye. See; this isn’t your everyday GTC4Lusso – this baby is loaded to the gills with the type of magic that only Santa can make possible. So, this thing carries a considerable amount of power over the standard 6.3-liter V-12 and, despite appearing small, has enough cargo room to haul enough presents to hit half of the world in one trip.

But, before I get too far ahead of myself, Santa’s already hard at work navigating his way to the homes of kids all over the world. So, let’s dive on in a take a look at the GTC4Lusso Sleigh 2.0.

A Look Back at Some of Santa's Exotic and Most Luxurious Sleighs

A Look Back at Some of Santa’s Exotic and Most Luxurious Sleighs

The fat man likes to roll in style doesn’t he?

Nobody really knows how often Santa upgrades his sleigh, but what if he wanted to shop for a new model altogether? Well, over the past five or six years, publications like Car Magazine have challenged automakers to design a new sleigh for Santa. Automakers like Bentley, Land Rover, and even Vauxhall have designed new sleighs for Santa in the past, so needless to say, Santa has had a lot to choose from.

I don’t recall seeing any designs last year, and have only seen one this year. But, when you consider the long list of available sleighs at his disposal, there are still at least a few on standby, just waiting to be plucked from some secret, magical garage that is undoubtedly located somewhere at the North Pole.

Since we haven’t seen too many fresh designs for the 2015, I decided to revisit a few of the sleighs created in the years past. Most of the sleighs are exotic, or out of this world – and one even looks like a fighter jet – but why wouldn’t Santa take advantage of all the latest technology? You may have seen one or two of the designs in the past, but it’s always fun to revisit things like this during the holidays. Which of the following sleighs do you think Santa is going to use this year?

What If Nissan, Tesla, or Volkswagen Designed Santa’s Sleigh?

Which carmaker would design the coolest sleigh for Santa Claus?

2020 was a rough year because of the Covid-19 pandemic, so we’re all looking forward to seeing Santa Claus flying to deliver presents on Christmas night. However, we need to consider that the coronavirus may have affected good ol’ Santa too. While he may have added a third shift to his toy production to make up for delays, what if magic sleigh would stop working all of a sudden? Well, I bet several automakers would rush to help out and deliver Mr. Claus a brand-new means of transportation. Let’s see what would happen if famous car brands would design Santa’s sleigh.

This Porsche 911 Art Might Disturb You At First

Then you’ll start to love it

Porsches have been on posters since before I was born and with the rise of technology, aficionados have been adorning their laptops and smartphones with Porsche goodness on the regular.

At the same time, Porsches have been inspiring people well beyond the desire to work hard and drive a 911 one day. Porsche, just like BMW to some extent, has both a knack and soft spot for the visual arts and there’s no better way to illustrate this affinity than Chris Labrooy’s work.

This Police Chase With a 6x6 Hennessey Velociraptor Truck is the Most L.A. Thing Ever

You don’t find this kind of police chase in the news very often

A Hennessey Velociraptor 6x6 belonging to DJ Marshmello has found itself in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The massive custom Ford Raptor with three axles and six wheels featured in one of the most surreal car chases in Los Angeles in recent memory after a lunatic stole it in a local dealership where it was being serviced. The lengthy police pursuit ultimately ended when the driver of the VelociRaptor crashed into a light pole outside of a Taco Bell. The driver’s identity has yet to be released, but he did find himself with plenty of charges on his hands.

According to an Italian Speed Camera, The Ford Focus Is The Fastest Road Car On the Planet

According to an Italian Speed Camera, The Ford Focus Is The Fastest Road Car On the Planet

Imagine driving 703kmh in a Ford Focus of all things…..

Imagine cruising down the highway at 703 kmh (about 437 mph) in a Ford Focus. You and I both know that this is downright impossible, and even if it was, the Ford Focus is the last car on Earth that you’d want to do it in. Well, despite the logical conclusion that this didn’t happen, an Italian speed camera – in the most epic of epic glitches – flagged an Italian driver at exactly that 703 kmh in a 70 kmh zone. One would think that glitches happen on occasion and someone would have noticed, but that isn’t the case. A few days later, the driver was issued an €863.60 ($974) speeding fine and 10 points, the latter of which is halfway to suspension if your license is clean.

Dark Humor: Ford Mustang owner gets "COV1D19" license plate

Is this funny or not?

The novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 has infected hundreds of thousands and killed more than 16,000 people as of March 23. It also created a global panic, causing businesses to either reduce their activity or shut down completely.

Needless to say, it’s not something you can joke about, but an Ohio man decided dark humor is the way to go and applied for a license plate that says "COV1D19." The plate is currently pending approval from the state’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles and if it’s approved, it will find its way on a customized 1986 Ford Mustang GT.

Someone Has Seriously Already Made a Tesla Cyberbike!

It’s not the real deal, but we are already loving this little thing

The Cyberbike is here! Well, it’s not built by Tesla, but anything that’s weird can now be prefixed with “Cyber”, right?

Famous YouTuber Casey Neistat converted an electric bike to a Tesla Cybertruck-inspired Cyberbike just by adding an aluminum frame to it. Putting the ridiculous idea on the side for a second, this is actually one of the neatest hacks we’ve seen in recent times. Do you want a bullet-proof body? Well, Tesla could do it. The rear-view mirrors could be shatter-proof too… or maybe not.

Subaru Doesn’t Give F.U.C.K.S About Naming Its Special Edition Car; Issues An Apology After Getting Mocked And Trolled

What’s in a name? Ask Subaru and they’ll tell you how important it is

The Subaru Forester has been around for over two decades and has made a name for itself in the industry. Although it is on the verge of becoming an icon for the company since it’s the kind of compact SUV that sells itself, Subaru recently made a blunder.

At the Singapore Auto Show, Subaru brought a special edition of the SUV called ’Forester Ultimate Customized Kit Special.’ This created a huge uproar and people couldn’t stop mocking the FUCKS acronym. Subaru later apologized for it once it realized the unfortunate mistake. But, can you control the wildfire once it’s started?
