The Porsche 911 GT3 is the ultimate, normally-aspirated 911 and the YouTube channel AutoTopNL recently got its hands on a 992 GT3 Touring – the more street-oriented, “less shouty” version of the normally-aspirated track weapon, without the crazy aero. And while race tracks are the home of the GT3, here, we see how capable the wingless version is, on the Autobahn. Is the “purest 911” capable enough, in the age of turbocharged performance cars?

With the pandemic still looming over our heads, 2021 was a pretty action-packed year for the auto industry. Sure, you had challenges, with automakers having to contend with issues like chip shortages, causing delays to consumers. But regardless, the show had to go on and we got some pretty cool cars making their debut, predominantly towards the latter half of 2021.

Let’s get one thing out of the way, 2021 really was also the year, when the market as a whole began to embrace EV’s and you could see several automakers both the legacy as well as EV startups bring several new models to market. Having said that, we did see some pretty cool ICE cars, also make their debut. Now there were several cars that made headlines this year, it was very difficult to pick out the best ones, but the cars on this list definitely stood out. Here’s our list of some of the most highly anticipated and important cars that were unveiled in 2021.

Ford has finally pulled the wraps off the next-generation Ranger through a global virtual launch event held in Australia. The model shown here is the global model, as the North American version is expected to look slightly different from the global model - this is what you need to know about it.

The Subaru XV/Crosstrek is arguably one of the pioneers of the small SUV segment. Back then, the Impreza-based crossover SUV was ahead of its time with barely any other vehicle competing in this segment. It eventually became one of Subaru’s best-sellers in this crossover-hungry world. Fast forward to 2021, and Subaru is already celebrating 10 years of the XV/Crosstrek nameplate by unveiling a special edition model exclusive to the Japanese market.

The first generation of the Subaru Impreza debuted in 1992, which means that the compact all-wheel drive (AWD) car will be in its 30th year in 2022. As a way to celebrate, Subaru is unveiling the new Impreza Black Accent Edition that’s limited to Japan.

You probably don’t remember the Kia Carens. It was last sold in August 2010 due to MPVs being unpopular in the United States. The Carens still went on sale as the Rondo in Canada, but only until the 2017 model year, yet again a victim of SUVs and crossovers.

Mazda has just unveiled the 2022 MX-5 Miata in Japan, and while the upgrades for this year are quite comprehensive, none of them concern the sports car’s aesthetics.

Although it was bound to happen, this comes as a surprise. GMC dropped a short trailer teasing the new upcoming Electric Sierra Denali. The automaker hasn’t revealed any details about it, but gave us a glimpse of its front fascia. Well, something’s better than nothing and we at least know GMC has already started working on electrifying the Sierra.

The Porsche 911 is currently in its eighth generation, internally dubbed the 992. The current generation debuted in 2019, with the 911 Turbo debuting in March 2020, and as always, followed the philosophy “evolution, not revolution”. Fast-forward to the end of 2021 and we have spy footage, which shows an updated version of the 992 Turbo testing in the snow. Here’s what we see.

Just a few weeks ago, Genesis pulled the wraps off its new G90 flagship luxury sedan, but only a few exterior photos were released. This time, however, every single detail about the G90 has been revealed, including its gorgeously-design interior.

Ford launched the F-150 Lightning earlier this year. The electric truck checks almost all the boxes and can be considered as the first mainstream electric pickup truck for the masses. There are a lot of electric trucks launched in recent years, like the Tesla Cybertruck, the Rivian R1T, the Lordstown Endurance, the Bollinger B2, etc. But, none of them offer the all-round capability that the F-150 Lightning does.

The Ford truck comes with all the bells and whistles one can ask for, and then some more. For now, Ford has launched it in one body style and three basic trims plus an exclusive work truck model, but expect it to grow in the coming years. With all the subsidies and credits, the F-150 Lightning works out to be the cheapest full-size truck in the market today! (more on this in the ‘Pricing’ section). From the looks of it, the F-150 Lightning seems to be an all-rounder that offers good power outputs, decent range, and a lot of tech features. With new EVs sprouting left and right, even the more traditional carmakers are making the transition towards electricity.
