ABT and Audi kind of go together like peanut butter and jelly. Just this year alone, we’ve seen a handful of ABT-tuned Audis, like the bonkers RS6-R Avant, the RS Q8, and the RS6 Avant. Now, ABT has managed to take the Audi Q5 55 TFSIe, one of Audi’s latest plug-in hybrids, and give it a healthy dose of extra grunt that pushes it well beyond its original specification.
2019 Audi SQ5 TDI
Audi released the new 2019 Audi SQ5 TDI, and it will showcase the brute at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show. Yet, before I get into all the “what’s new” jazz, let me give you some perspective here, right in the introduction. The 2015 Ford Mustang GT comes with a V-8 with 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque and can accelerate to 60 in 4.4 seconds. The 2016 Chevy Camaro SS comes with a V-8 with 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque and can accelerate to 60 in 4.3 seconds. The 2018 Durango SRT comes with a V-8 with 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque and can accelerate to 60 in 4.4 seconds. Now, the new Audi SQ5 TDI isn’t as quick. It will accelerate to 60 mph in 5 seconds. So, around half a second slower, but not far off.
So, why the hell am I mentioning American muscle cars here? Well, unlike them, Audi doesn’t run on gasoline, it does not have a V-8, and its engine is around 25-percent smaller in terms of displacement compared to any of the cars listed here. Ladies and gentlemen, I know that comparing a compact SUV with muscle cars and a massive SUV like the Dodge Durango is, basically, blasphemy, but the Audi SQ5 is that insane, amazing, and incredible. In its newest iteration it is, by far, the most amazing diesel-powered performance SUV I know of. Yes, Alpina does have that mad
based XD3 with 388 horsepower, but I consider that to be an aftermarket offering despite the car being produced on the same production line as the regular X3.
Audi Spills the Beans on 2019 Model Updates
Audi is gearing up for a raft of changes throughout its model range in 2019 that sees a number of cars get their facelifts done while adding some new models to the lineup like the e-Tron SUV.
German automaker Audi, part of the Volkswagen Group, is currently fighting an uphill battle against its core rivals in the executive and luxury segments. Audi’s global sales figure barely went up by 0.6% last year and, while 2018 stats look better, Mercedes-Benz and BMW are still the key reference points. In the U.S., Audi’s growth is a bit more visible, sitting at about 7.75% between 2016 and 2017, with the current trend seemingly still strong on its feet.

As far as compact SUVs go, the Audi SQ5 feels like a textbook example of how to make cars. It’s sleek, sophisticated, and somehow looks like an Apple phone - clean and just right. Making something wacky out of it requires some thinking and creativity. In this case, Lumma, a German tuning company, took it upon itself to craft a customization package trying to awaken the buried raw character hidden behind its SQ5 badge.

It’s Not The Audi Q8, But the Q5 L Is Really Stretchy
Audi did surprise us. We all thought that Audi was going to finally unveil the Q8 SUV at the Beijing Auto Show. It turns out; we were only half-right. The German automaker is unveiling an SUV in Beijing; it’s just not the Q8. Instead, we’re being treated to the world debut of the new Q5L, a longer version of the Q5 that’s aimed specifically at the Chinese market. There are lots to talk about with regards to the Q5L, but the most important thing is its size. The Q5L, among other things, is the first-ever Audi SUV to be offered in an “L” version.

2017 Audi SQ5
Unveiled for the 2017 model year, the second-generation Audi Q5 received the performance treatment at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. Highlighted by an "S" badge and a more aggressive exterior design, the SQ5 also benefits from all the updates that came with the new-generation crossover, including a revamped interior with new technology.
Audi entered the SUV market in 2005 with the Q7, and three years later it launched the Q5. The crossover was developed to tackle the successful BMW X3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLK (renamed the GLC). It took Audi another four years to introduce the 2014 Audi SQ5 and bring it to the U.S. with a supercharged V-6 engine.

Audi Adds More Fast To The SQ5 With Extra Torque, New Air Suspension
Audi began making the Q5 compact luxury crossover in 2008, first unveiling the production model at the Beijing Auto Show that same year. Initially offered with a 2.0-liter TFSI, 2.0-liter TDI, and 3.0-liter TDI powerplant, the Q5 got a facelift in 2012, at which time the engine lineup was greatly expanded. A year later, Audi introduced the SQ5 performance variant. Engine options included a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 diesel, making the SQ5 TDI the first Audi S model to offer an oil burner, as well as a boosted 3.0-liter gas engine. Now, following the release of the second-gen Q5 at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, Audi has introduced the second-gen SQ5 at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. The updated fun-to-drive luxury crossover enters the 2018 model year with higher performance hopes thanks to new adaptive air suspension, as well as a smattering of extra peak power from a new turbo V-6. The styling was also updated, while a slew of available driver’s assist features and modern infotainment round out the changeover.
Let’s talk about what’s under the hood first. Replacing the outgoing 3.0-liter TFSI is a different, “all-new” 3.0-liter TFSI. With direct injection and a turbo strapped on, the new powerplant makes 354 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, besting the old engine by 5 horsepower and 23 pound-feet, respectively. While five ponies isn’t exactly something the write home about, the extra torque produced low in the rpm band should make a notable impact when it comes to driving dynamics. As before, an eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox handles the cogs, while standard quattro AWD makes the traction.
To put the torque to better use, Audi also updated the suspension at both ends. Under the nose is a new five-link set-up, featuring lightweight construction and more precise inputs. The steering can be also be optioned with a dynamic ratio, which will either vary the steering quickness based on speed (higher speeds equal a slower ratio, lower speeds have a quicker ratio), or based on driver-selectable settings.
Enthusiasts looking to max their Audi’s fun factor should investigate the available S sport package. This option throws on a new rear differential specifically designed for sporty driving, with active torque distribution that can send nearly all available rear torque to one side or the other, making for a more engaging experience behind the wheel. And, for the first time ever on the SQ5, 2018 models with the S sport package will come equipped with a new sport adaptive air suspension system.

The Audi Q5 Drops Some Weight, Gains Some Power, and Gets an Updated Quattro AWD System
Quick! Which Audi model just got a reduced curb weight, bump in engine output, and a few updates to its legendary, motorsport-derived AWD system? Surprisingly, I just described some of the new stuff on the German brand’s compact SUV, a.k.a. the Q5.
First up, thanks to the utilization of materials like high-tensile strength steel and aluminum in the body, the Q5 cuts upwards of 200 pounds from the curb weight, depending on the trim level. And that’s on top of an increase to the Q5’s exterior dimensions, by the way.
Next up is the drivetrain, where we see the inclusion of something called “ultra technology” to the quattro AWD system. Equipped as standard on models sporting a 2.0-liter TDI oil burner (and offered as an available option on the 150-horsepower diesel trim), ultra tech essentially ups fuel mileage by disengaging the rear axle while cruising, transforming the Q5 into a front-wheel driver. The rear axle will then automatically reengage when more traction is called for, making for a nice mix between FWD efficiency and AWD grip. No word yet on whether or not U.S.-spec models will get ultra technology, but it’s doubtful considering the only engines offered here will be the gas units.
Further AWD upgrades include torque vectoring tech, new driving modes for a little soft-roader action, and a sportier rear differential for models equipped with a diesel V-6 engine.
Speaking of engines, Audi says it’s making the various powerplant options both more powerful and more efficient. There will be four TDI specs and one TFSI engine on the table, but again, don’t expect the diesels to make it to these shores (thanks, Dieselgate). All in all, we can expect up to 27 extra ponies, plus a substantial increase to mpg. The 2.0-liter turbocharged gas burner, for example, will produce 252 horsepower (up from 220 horsepower) and return nearly 35 mpg (up from 27 mpg on the highway).

Two Heavily Camouflaged Audi Q5s Spotted In Hackensack, New Jersey
A pair of heavily camouflaged SUVs were spotted making the rounds in Hackensack, New Jersey by an eagle-eyed member of the Bimmerfest forum. Initially, “zombie99” thought that the SUVs were BMW X3s, but upon checking the photo and comparing it to previous spy photos of the BMW crossover, he may have confused them with the Audi Q5, which they really are. Still, great work on capturing the wrapped up Q5s. Based on past experience, most people would think that the two Q5s were just the victims of a well-orchestrated prank.
To be fair, other members of the forum also pointed out that they thought the two SUVs looked more like the Q5 than the X3. But we took it a step further and examined past spy photos of both SUVs and there really is a big difference between the two, especially in the rear section, the same area that’s shown in zombie99’s photograph.
One of the things that’s visible in the new BMW X3’s rear section are the circular taillights. In fact, two sets of spy photos, taken in November and December 2015, respectively, both show the X3 with circular taillights, small park lights, and dual exhausts. The shoulder lines on the X3 are also not as pronounced as the two SUVs you see in zombie99’s photo.
By comparison, past spy photos of the Audi Q5, taken in August 2015, show plenty of similarities to the ones that were spotted in Hackensack, New Jersey. The taillights are similar, as are the other set of lights located on opposite ends of the rear bumper. The SUV in the front also shows a similarly configured exhaust and diffuser compared to the other spy photos we’ve seen of the Q5 and the SUV in the back clearly shows distinctive shoulder lines, just like the one found on the spy photos of the test mule in Spain last August.
So yes, we believe these two SUVs are Audi Q5s, but as to why they’re doing some test runs in New Jersey is another matter entirely. Another member of the forum indicated that two Q5 test mules have been testing around the area for weeks and are “usually accompanied” by another Audi with manufacturer plates.

With 2015 coming to a close, Audi has unveiled some of its plans for 2016, which will bring at least two brand-new vehicles into dealerships. As expected, next year will mark the unveiling of the second-generation Q5, a vehicle we’ve already spotted testing in the wild. Audi also confirmed it will launch the Q2 in 2016. Slated to slot beneath the Q3 in the company’s lineup, the Q2 will become Audi’s fourth crossover.
Ingolstadt is also busy working on its first mass-produced electric vehicle, which will arrive in 2018 and will be based on the e-tron Quattro concept. Unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, the e-tron Quattro is a low-slung SUV that uses three electric motors which are good for up to 496 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. If the production model remains true to the concept, Audi will roll out a competitor for the Tesla Model X.
Additionally, Audi announced it will expand its model range to include 60 different automobiles by 2020. This plan is far from new, but the statement confirms that the Germans are still looking to expand.
As far as investments go, Audi plans to spend more than €3 billion in 2016. That figure includes development of new technologies, new personnel, and updating its facilities around the world. Audi will also recruit additional experts in the field of future technologies such as alternative drive systems, lightweight construction, and IT specialists.
“With the current investment program, we obviously want to enhance the brand’s strong position, but at the same time, we aim to achieve additional financial scope by means of further process and cost optimization,” said Audi CFO Axel Strotbek.
On the flipside, the Board of Management has decided to postpone the construction of a new wind tunnel for one year.

ABT Sportsline has released an updated program for the Audi SQ5 made up of some of the company’s famous aerodynamic kits and improvements on its existing engine modification for the crossover. Back in 2013, ABT Sportsline released a similar kit for the SQ5 that featured many of the same components included in the new program. It may be recycled from a technical standpoint, but since the SQ5 has undergone stylistic changes of its own, this new kit is all about giving the SUV a different and a more up-to-the-times presentation than its predecessor.
As usual, ABT Sportsline focused its attention on three things: the body, engine, and the suspension of the SQ5. Each section of the crossover received its own upgrades. The body, for instance, gets an aero kit that improves the SQ5’s appearance. Likewise, improvements on the suspension provides enhanced driving dynamics. Even the crossover’s new 3.0-liter TDI diesel engine has its own engine modification that pushes its power output past the tuner’s previous modification for the SQ5.
All together, the new tuning kit puts the SQ5 in a totally different light. It may still be Audi’s resident high-performance diesel crossover, but all the aftermarket add-ons given to it by ABT Sportsline shows that there are still enough ways to bring more out of the SQ5. The kit itself isn’t going to turn the crossover into something radically different or out of its character, but with all the pieces in place, that might as well have been the reason for the kit.

Though the 2008 Audi Q5 arrived in 2008, it took Audi nearly five years to offer a performance version of the crossover. Launched in 2013, the 2013 Audi SQ5 received both gasoline and diesel versions with outputs in excess of 300 horsepower. Only two years have passed since then and Audi is already working on updated variants of the SQ5, based on the second-generation 2017 Audi Q5 that’s set to arrive in 2016. Until then, however, Ingolstadt updated the current SQ5 TDI to Plus specifications, giving it more power and torque and a number of exclusive features inside and out.
Before you get too excited, the SQ5 TDI isn’t available in the United States, which means the Plus model won’t cross the pond here either.
The SQ5 is the fifth Audi to receive the Plus badge. The company’s Plus line goes back to 2004, when the RS6 Plus was launched as a limited-edition model. Since then, Audi introduced the 2014 Audi R8 V10 Plus and 2012 Audi TT RS Plus in 2012, as well as the 2016 Audi S8 Plus in 2015. Also, the SQ5 is the first diesel model to gain the Plus package two years after it became the first diesel-powered S model in the Audi lineup.

2017 Audi Q5
The 2016 Paris Auto Show brought a slew of impressive new and revised models, not the least of which is the 2017 Audi Q5. It features an all-new look, a welcomed interior update that continues Audi’s current design theme, and upgraded mechanicals, including powertrains, suspension, and structural components. The Q5 is also larger in every dimension, giving it more interior space and better handling.
The Q5 was launched in 2008 to compete against the BMW X3, which the Bavarian company introduced as early as 2003. It received a facelift in 2012, but has largely gone unchanged. Rumors of the Q5’s second-generation began hitting the Internet in 2014 and early prototypes began showing up on public roads midway through 2015.
The Q5 is now based on the MLB platform shared with the A4 and Q7. This means it uses high-strength steel and large amounts of aluminum to add strength while cutting weight. In fact, Audi says the 2017 Q5 is 198 pounds lighter than the last generation, despite its larger size.
Making the most of that weight reduction are five upgraded powertrains that include four TDI engines and a single TFSI gasoline mill. Here in the States, we’ll only get the TFSI, which is an upgraded 2.0-liter turbo four with 27 additional horsepower for a total of 252. A new quattro AWD system helps further efficacy with Audi’s “ultra technology.” Basically, it cuts power to the rear axle when traction isn’t an issue.

Audi is no stranger to the crossover game, having the Q3, Q5 and Q7 models in its fleet. Nestled mid-pack is the Q5, a midsize crossover that blends the best of a luxury sedan with the high-riding, AWD nature of a SUV. The Q5 aims to please, offering three engine options and a hybrid model, along with three trim level choices and enough tech to make Bill Gates look old school. Included in the powertrain mix is the potent 3.0-liter TDI, bristling with 428 pound-feet of torque and a very un-crossover-like highway fuel economy rating of 31 mpg.
The Q5 got its start back in 2009. Sales started off slow here in the U.S., likely thanks to the sour economic times, but has grown steadily year by year. A facelift for 2013 helped boost sales by more than 11,600 units over 2012. That mid-cycle refresh brought an upgraded interior with refined controls and better materials, along with a revised exterior with upgraded lighting.
Things have pretty much stayed the same since then, with the Q5 enjoying sales of more than 40,000 units in 2014. To get an idea of how the Q5 is holding up, I spent a week with it. And more specifically, my tester was the TDI version, complete with its stump-pulling torque and quattro AWD.

British design house Kahn Design may be known for its Land Rover-based projects, but its offerings aren’t limited to beefed-up Range Rover Sport and Evoque SUVs. In recent years, the Brits set their sight on a number of Audi and Porsche models as well, including the Q3, the Q5 and the mighty Cayenne.
You probably remember 2015 Q5 Wide Track, a crossover that gained a more appealing body kit and a wider track for enhanced stability. What it didn’t get, however, was a more capable powertrain, being stuck with the same 2.0-liter TDI engine it came with from the factory. That’s actually a tradition for Kahn Design, who focuses on visual upgrades rather than power bumps.
Same goes for the recently unveiled Q5 2.0 TDI quattro S-Tronic Wide Track. Wait, what? Is this a re-release? No, it is not! It’s a totally different approach that replaces the elegance seen on the previous model with a menacing new look by means of a triple-black coating and a number of new styling elements.

Since its official launch, the Audi Q5has had its fair share of success, and for some very good reasons: it’s about $10k cheaper than its bigger brother — the Q7 — it’s compact size make it perfect for today’s crowded cities, and, as any other Audi model it looks great and delivers lots of luxury feature.
This successful recipe also makes the Q5 a hit among tuners and design firms. Kahn Design, for example, has developed quite an impressive amount of kits for it, and just like with every other one, this latest kit focuses on updating the look of the SUV.
For this, Kahn started by painting the car in a very cool brilliant black and installed a new aerodynamic kit complements its sleek lines. The kit includes a new front bumper, front and rear wheel arches, rear hatch blend, stainless-steel door-sill plates, and a new rear diffuser. The designer also installed a new quad exhaust system in stainless steel.

Kahn Design prepares to end the year in style, with a new design based on an Audi. It looks like the company decided to drop its usual preference to Land Rover models, and decided to do something special for its final release for 2013.
The kit prepared by Kahn Design is based on the Q5 with the 2.0-liter TDI engine that delivers a total of 170 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. As usual, the design firm left all the bits under the hood in their stock form, but the 170 horses from the factory four-pot engine enough for such a tiny SUV.
Instead, Kahn focused on upgrading the exterior and the interior look of this petite SUV, plus it installed a new set of wheels combined with a new suspension system for enhanced handling. There is also a new quad exhaust system made in stainless-steel, which will make the diesel engine sound a little bit better.

While we await the Audi Q5 RS to arrive, Audi launched the SQ5, which comes in both diesel and gasoline versions. These engines help the SQ5 deliver impressive performance to go with its more aggressive exterior look.The base Audi SQ5 TDI uses a V-6 turbo-diesel engine that delivers a total of 313 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, a little bit more than a base Q5, but considerable less than we expect from a RS model.
Lucky for us, since Audi decided to keep the SQ5 relatively tame, ABT Sportsline decided to push the SQ5 a little harder. This slight nudge pushes the V-6 engine to a total of 360 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
Along with the extra power, ABT also offers a wide-body kit and a wide range of wheels to choose from.

The Audi Q5 is the company’s best-selling model after narrowly dethroning the aging A4 in 2013 sales through May. It’s easy to see why this little truck is so popular. Good dynamics, speedy engines, a good cabin and conservative styling. The Q5 also packs some of the best-looking LED technology Audi makes… but that is not likely to move the needle on its own.
The Q5 packs a few changes for 2014 but largely carries over the successful package with new trim options on the exterior, more horsepower from the base engine and some additional safety technology available as options.
Set to underpin the next Porsche Macan, almost everything about this $40,000 small SUV is very impressive.
The Audi is massively more fun to drive than its nearest competitors while also packing handsome styling that evolves the Q7 look effectively. The Q5’s compact dimensions and decent fuel economy also contribute to its rise in the charts.
Both the Mercedes-Benz GLK350 and the BMW X3 trail the Q5 in 2013 sales by more than 3000 units each and the Q5 is on track to move more than 30,000 units in the U.S. in 2013. So the car is a hit. There’s more to the story, however.
Even as the Q5 line is set to broaden with a U.S. performance model called the SQ5, the base package will still consume most sales. There’s little actual need for a larger engine when the supercharged V-6 can reach 60 in just 5.8 seconds.

Back in July 2012, Audi announced the 2013 SQ5 TDI, which is the first S model in Audi’s history to bear a diesel engine. That’s all well and good, but what if you really want the new SQ5, but are not a big diesel fan? Well, then you will have to wait for the petrol version to debut. And it will next week at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
The new Audi SQ5 TFSI will be specially developed for markets like United States, Canada and China, while in Europe the only version available will be the TDI one.
The model will be offered with the same "S" model upgrades seen in the TDI version: standard 20" wheels in triple-spoke design, a platinum gray radiator grille and of course a quadruple exhaust tips. Despite this similarities, the new petrol version has the advantage if being a little bit more powerful than the previous TDI engine, so the American customers will enjoy an extra 40 horsepower.

TheAudi SQ5 TDI was unveiled in the summer of 2012 and, to our knowledge, there are no tuning package for it just yet. The German tuner B&B, however, decided to offer us the first upgrade for the diesel SUV and we have to admit that it’s a good one.
The kit focuses only on improving the engine’s output level and is offered in three different stages. In stage one, the engine receives a remapped ECU and mild boost increase 0.15 bar (2.2 psi), increasing the output to 340 horsepower – up from the standard 313 ponies – and 728 Nm (536 pound-feet) of torque.
In Stage two, B&B is offering additional electronics optimization that increases the final output up to a stout 365 horsepower and 750 Nm (553 pound-feet) of torque. The one that leave a lasting impression on us is Stage three. It includes high-performance injectors, an upgraded air intake and an aftermarket intercooler for a final output of 395 horsepower and 800 Nm (590 pound-feet) of torque. The Stage three kit nets the SQ5 a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time of just 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 270 km/h (168 mph).
Along with the engine upgrades, the tuner is also offering a 25 mm (0.98-inch) lowering spring kit or adjustable coilover, a six-piston brake system and a wide range of alloy wheels going up to 22 inches.
As for pricing, the Stage one costs €1,498 ($2,000 at the current exchange rates), the Stage two kit runs €1,698 ($2,267) and the Stage three kit runs €1,950 ($2,604).
Now that the introductions to the 2012 SEMA Auto Show are dwindling down, it’s time to gear up for the next motor show on the calendar: the 2012 Essen Motor Show. German tuner, ABT Sportsline, will be unveiling a very cool QS5 package based on the new Audi Q5 when the Essen Motor Show opens its doors on December 1, 2012.
The new QS5 package will be applied to the 3.0 TDI and the 2.0 TDI versions. For the 3.0 TDI engine, the package brings the output from 245 HP and 427 lb-ft to 282 HP and 464 lbs-ft. The 2.0 TDI will see an output increase from 177 HP and 280 lb-ft of torque to 205 HP and 309 lb-ft.
The QS5 package also includes a new exhaust system with two double pipes and a new set of wheels, offered in CR or DR design and available from 20 to 22". Small modifications have also been done on the exterior and include a new front grille and spoiler, fender extensions and door strip attachments, a rear skirt set, and a new rear wing.
At the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Audi will be bringing along a special edition SQ5 TDI model called the Executive Concept.
To be fair, we’re looking forward to seeing this car on the showroom floor for a number of reasons including a unique body color that we haven’t seen before from an Audi. The concept also promises a luxurious interior befitting its "Exclusive Concept" designation.
Other than that, there’s not a whole lot to be excited about when it comes to the SQ TDI Exclusive Concept. (Wait until you hear how much it’s going to cost).
In any case, the car is scheduled to make an appearance in Paris, which, in itself, is worthy of coverage. It won’t be the sexiest or the most eye-popping of the cars headed to France, but we’re still interested to see if Audi can change our minds on our initial underwhelming opinion of this production-ready, limited-run concept.

Audi prepped the 24 Hours of Le Mans race to be the official venue for the debut of their all-new SQ5 TDI, the first S model in the history of Audi with a diesel engine.
The SQ5 will be powered by the all-new V-6 turbo-diesel engine boasting two turbochargers which Audi has been working on for various models in the lineup. This engine produces a total of 313 hp and 479.42 lb-ft of torque between 1,450 and 2,800 rpm. This power is enough to sprint the SUV from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.1 seconds and up to a top speed of 155 mph, but also deliver a fuel economy of 32.67 US mpg.
Compared to a standard Q5, the new SQ5 TDI version will be distinguished by a platinum gray single-frame grille with galvanized double bars in an aluminum-look finish, a new roof spoiler, and modified bumpers.
The new Audi SQ5 TDI will go on sale in the first quarter of 2013, with prices starting at €58,500, about $78,000 at the current exchange rates.
UPDATE 07/23/2012: Audi has unveiled a new, very cool promo video for their latest SQ5 TDI - the first S-model with a diesel engine - which shows the luxury SUV as it checks out the LeMans racetrack.

Audi started updating its line-up with the A5 and will continue to do so with every other model in the line-up throughout the next year. This even includes models that are still relatively young, like the Q5 SUV. The facelift version of the Q5 has now officially been announced and will go on sale later this summer. Prices on the European market will start from 39,900 euro - or about $52,500 at the current exchange rates.
Unlike the current Q5 that is only being offered with a choice of one gasoline engine and two TDI units, the new Q5 offers five engine options: three TDI and two TFSI engines with power ranging from 143 HP to 272 HP.
Just like with all the other facelifted models, the new Q5’s exterior updates include a modified grille, bumper and fog lights, but also modified headlights with LED lamps and xenon plus units. At the rear the model has received modified diffuser and tailpipes, while for the interior gets additional strides in refined styling.

While Mercedes has officially unveiled the 2013 GLK, Audi is still testing the facelift version of their Q5. The prototype caught testing is wearing the real lights in the front and back this time, and is only being covered up with a thin stripe of tape as camouflage; the new grille and bumpers were all free of camouflage. As you can see in one of these images, the driver was none too happy about being caught behind the wheel. That’s the risk they take!
As previously announced, the new Q5 facelift will receive new headlights, a modified front grille, a redesigned front bumper with larger air intakes, and new taillights. Minor modifications will also be made on the interior and the car’s overall driving dynamics. Audi will also offer a few options in terms of power, which is a good thing considering the current model only offers one gasoline engine and two TDI units.
Expect to see the new Audi Q5 facelift launched in the coming months.
The Q5 is about to receive an update, just like all of the other models in the Audi line-up, and that new facelift version of the SUV has been caught testing yet again during these fierce winter conditions. The prototype now has a white exterior paint finish, but our spy photographers were also able to get close enough to take a picture of the interior for the first time. The interior is fully covered which can only mean that it will get a major refresh.
As far as the exterior is concerned, the Audi Q5 facelift will receive a new hexagon grille and added chrome around the air intakes in the front bumper, even though they are black on this prototype. Changes to the technical parts of the SUV will include new electromechanical steering, new damper settings, and a revised rear suspension.
The current Q5 is only being offered with one gasoline engine and two TDI units, but expect to see a few more changes under the hood when the facelift arrives on the market in 2013.
The Q5, much like all the other models in Audi’s line-up, is in line to receive an update and as proof, here are some new spy shots of the SUV during dome of its winter testing. The changes for the Audi Q5 aren’t all that impressive because only minimal changes were made to freshen up the SUV a bit, but that seems to be the trend with all of the other Audi models getting a mid-generation tweak.
These spy shots reveal that the Audi Q5 facelift has received a new hexagon grille with chrome accents in the upper corners, new headlights, a redesigned front bumper, and new taillights. The Q5 lower front fascia depicts an S-line treatment more like that of the newer S-line models such as the A6 and the new A4 facelift.
For the interior, the Audi Q5 will get the latest version of MMI with Audi connect and Google maps. The engine line-up will remain unchanged in Europe, but for the US market, Audi will be adding the 2.0 TFSI hybrid and 3.0 TDI drivetrains.
There’s no question in anybody’s mind that the future of the auto industry hinges on advancements done on alternative technology. Whether its hybrid, electric, or even fuel-cell power, alternative energy is where the future is at.
At the 11th Michelin Challenge Bibendum in Berlin, Germany, Audi presented a vehicle that could potentially reshape the landscape of the company’s direction in the future. In trying to examine the potential and probability of using fuel-cell power as an alternative drivetrain, Audi rolled out the concept Q5 Hybrid Fuel Cell (HFC). The SUV, which is actually in concept guise, was built as a technical study to determine the feasibility of a vehicle running on fuel cells.
In this particular configuration, the car comes with a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell that produces 98 kW, which is about 133 horsepower and is connected to a lithium-ion battery that comes with an energy content of 1.3 kWh. Roll it up together and you have a drivetrain that’s powered by two electric motors that produces a combined peak output of around 127 horsepower and 310 lb/ft of torque with an electronically limited top speed of 103 mph.
Despite its designation as a concept vehicle, the Q5 HFC’s hybrid chassis lends itself to the scenario that sooner than later, a production version may be produced. It’s not so much a question of ’if’ more than it is of ’when’.
When that time comes though is still anyone’s guess. But you can be sure that this won’t be the last vehicle Audi is looking into when it comes to the development of alternative drivetrains.
Audi was sitting pretty at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show with its new Cross Cabriolet Quattro Concept. Being a convertible crossover, the Cross Cabriolet received high marks amongst automotive enthusiasts. Of course, those same enthusiasts were not exactly optimistic that they were going to see this concept ever make it to the production line. Naysayers, move aside. Nissan has recently unveiled the Murano Convertible, so why couldn’t we expect a Q5 Cabrio?
At the concept’s launch, Design Chief of Audi USA, Brit Steve Lewis said: "Such a vehicle has been talked about within the company for some time as no one has ever done a cabriolet SUV before. If there is sufficient demand for around 5,000 units a year it could go into limited production." Back then he claimed we would see the Cabriolet in 2010, but the economic downturn made sure that wasn’t possible. Now, new rumors suggest that the production Q5 Cabrio could arrive in 2013.
A production version will be a two door vehicle, with natural Quattro drive and a range of TDI and TFSI engines. It will also feature a canvas roof.
It was only logical that after BMW released the X5 and the X5M to the market, Audi would eventually bring out more models for their crossover, the Q5. The idea started almost a year ago with details surrounding two more variants of the Q5 - the SQ5 and the RSQ5 - coming out with good projected outputs of 333hp and 408hp, respectively. That idea has certainly catapulted since then with news that Audi has registered the SQ5 and RSQ5 monikers, meaning that the German company has finally decided it has much more to offer to the SUV market.
The current Q5 line-up includes the standard Q5 model and the recently launched Q5 Hybrid Quattro, but the two new and sportier models will most likely attract many more customers. All this means is that the BMW X5 and the X5M may need to start working a bit harder to win over their clientele. However, being that the X5M puts out a rewarding 555hp, we find it a little hard to believe that anyone would opt for the Audi. As of right now,BMW is the clear choice, but we never know what these automakers have up their sleeves. Perhaps Audi will bring out something that is that much more entertaining.
Audi and Stasis Engineering’s attendance at SEMA was memorable for a number of reasons. First, it was the first time Audi has ever participated in the annual aftermarket event. Second, the event gave both companies the unique opportunity to share the stage together with a number of the tuning firm’s new Signature Series collection.
One of the vehicles that was included in this collection is the Audi Q5, an SUV that has been lauded by a number of pundits for being a vehicle that combines a dynamic and sporty exterior with a clean and classy interior, a versatile all-around SUV that fits in nicely to a variety of markets, be it for the sporty and outgoing type or for the weekend family types.
The Q5’s standing in the auto industry made it a perfect vehicle for Stasis Engineering to work their magic on. The challenge then was putting together a tuning package for an SUV that already had a favorable rating among consumers and turn it into something that’s going to attract more positive attention than it already has.

Last month there were rumors suggesting that Audi would be bringing the Q5 Hybrid to the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show. Shortly after, Audi stripped away all of our hope by denying those rumors. Now, here comes the confusing part; if you take a look on any Audi European page, you’ll see that the Q5 Hybrid Quattro has already been presented there, with all the official details. We typically wouldn’t believe just one webpage, thinking that maybe it was a webmaster error, but we don’t think that’s the case with this story. Maybe it’s just wishful thinking on our part, but we think that this is more than that.
With the Q5 Hybrid Quattro, Audi wanted to offer a hybrid model that cultivated the typical Audi sportiness. The new model is said to be the pioneer of electric mobility for Audi. It combines a 2.0L TFSI petrol engine with a high-performance 33 kilowatt electric motor. When driven at less than 37mph, the electric motor offers an autonomy of 1.86 miles.

Audi has just confirmed that a hybrid version of the Q5 SUV will be revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show this November. The new version will be offered to both Europe and America.
We already know that the Q5 will carry the same hybrid powertrain found in the Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg, but we are curious to see what else Audi has planned for the SUV.
The Cayenne Hybrid is powered by a 47 hp electric motor combined to a 333 hp compressor engine. The two drive units deliver a total of 380 HP and peak torque of 427 lb-ft at just 1,000 rpm. However, for the Q5 Hybrid, we expect a 211 HP four-cylinder 2.0 TFSI engine combined with a 45 hp electric motor which would make it the first compact SUV on the market to utilize a hybrid powertrain.

Audi has unveiled a new commercial for the Audi Q5 Quattro. The ad features a bunch of guys riding their mountain bikes in an effort to teach all of us a thing or two about the capability of the Audi SUV. Apparently, the Q5 can run through the woods and trail through all of the rough terrain they have to offer, just like the killer mountain bikes. Want some visual confirmation? The Audi Q5 is rolling off the production line in three engine variants – one gasoline engine and two TDI units. All of the engines are direct-injection models with a turbocharger – characterized by outstanding performance, hefty propulsive power and cultivated running while at the same time offering impressive fuel efficiency. The most powerful engine in the line-up is the 3.0 TDI engine that delivers 240 HP and 500 NM of torque. This version can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, and can hit a top speed of 225 km/h (139.81 mph).
Have some cash to blow, but the wife, and/or husband, won’t let you buy a Porsche? Well, as bad as that might be, mid-range crossovers won’t solve that pain. Instead, they’ll provide a luxury driving experience with the fun factor of getting stabbed.
Okay, so maybe it’s not that bad. As much as we don’t like crossovers, we do think they’re better than massive SUVs. Some can even be fun to drive now and again. For these tests we will be looking at style, image, standard equipment, interior space, and driving dynamics. Price will also be considered, but not as much as the other areas.
We will have to get a price cap to keep things in the mid-level, so we’ll set it at $45,000. That should be more than enough to get the lower end luxury models from Cadillac plus the German and Japanese car companies.

Usually, all the Audi models have, at some point, an S and an RS version and since the Q5 has acquired some stiff competition with the BMW X5 and the BMW X5M, the company decided to offer more options of the Q5 for their customers.
The first to arrive on the market is the SQ5, a model inspired by the Q5 Custom Concept. It will arrive in 2011 and will be powered by a super-charged 3.0 liter V6 engine with a compressor comparable to Audi’s existing S4. This car will be delivering an output of 333 horsepower. While most of the car is the same with the standard Q5 version, a couple of striking differences between a standard Q5 and the SQ5 will include, among others, a new front and rear spoiler and a rear diffuser, quad exhaust and a chrome "S" grille.
The next step will be the RSQ5, a model powered by the same 3.0 TFSI V6 engine and will deliver 408 hp and 500 Nm of torque.
There is a soft spot in our hearts for BMW and with the SQ5 and the RSQ5 producing 333hp and 408hp, respectively, we stand strong on the 555hp produced by the BMW X5M. We can only hope that this new competition will lead BMW to an X3M model. If you happen to be an Audi lover, don’t worry, we will keep a lookout for any type of confirmation on these two new Audi models. Who knows, if they do debut, maybe it will get us to change our minds.
About a month ago, ENCO Exclusive revealed a tuning package for the Audi Q7 SUV. Now, it looks like those guys are far from finished after revealing yet another Audi tuning kit, this time for the smaller Q5.
Among the features included in ENCO Exclusive’s Q5 kit includes large blackened air inlets to both sides of the radiator grille, a new hood with a sublime mid-section with two chrome air outlets, a new front spoiler, a rear bumper skirt with exhaust pipes and a rear spoiler. The package is finished by brand new silver monoblock set of 22-inch wheels in Enco "Jura" design.

Jamiroquai front man Jay Kay is a consummate automotive consumer, and if his personal collection of super cars isn’t enough to convince you then just take the German luxury car builder Audi’s word for it because they put the singer behind the wheel of a new Audi Q5 crossover to see what he thinks of the new car. Jay Kay was particularly fond of the Q5’s aggressive exterior lines as well as the full length sunroof that opens up the interior as well as the spacious accommodations for up to six passengers and the ability to carry loads of cargo. The German automaker Audi has just announced prices for the 2010 A4 and A5 sedan and coupe as well as the Q5 compact crossover. In the appropriate Vorsprung das Tecnik fashion, each of the luxury vehicles have been improved for next year. The A4 and A5 now feature LED tail lights as part of the Premium Plus and Prestige trim packages, the sporty A5 will also receive, for the first time, the same fuel efficient 2.0 Liter TFSI direct-injection four cylinder engine that is offered in the A4. The larger Q5 Prestige will also offer an optional Luxury Package to make customers feel like their money was well spent.
The 2010 Audi A4 will start at $31,450 equipped with the TFSI 2.0 Liter driving the front wheels and goes all the way up to $42,250 for the quattro version when they start to make their way into showrooms. The sporty A5 will start out at $36,000 for a 2.0 TFSI powered quattro Coupe with a manual transmission and will go all the way up to $45,500 for a Tiptronic. The Audi Q5 SUV is not only the heaviest of the bunch, but will also tip the monetary scales the most with a starting rice of $37,350 that climbs to $48,850 depending on how luxurious a packages you prefer.

Audi is offering new entry-level engines for both the Audi Q5 and Audi A4 Allroad. The Q5 gets the 2.0 TDI and the 2.0-liter TFSI, both in conjunction with the 6-speed manual transmission. The diesel engine is also available for the A4 Allroad.
Both engines are in-line four-cylinder engines with direct injection, with the diesel version developing 143 hp and the gasoline one 180 hp.

The Volkswagen tuner, Caractere has been adding a little more character to the smaller end of Audi’s SUV lineup. Keeping things simple, the men in charge of reworking the Q5 left the insides alone and instead focused on improving the crossover aesthetically. The stylists have given the Audi Q5 a much more aggressive exterior. The kit consists of a new front bumper with larger more aggressive openings and is still compatible with the factory optional S-line trim. The rear spoiler, offered with or without the winglets add to the sporty impression, but it is the wide wheel arches that set the Caractere Q5 apart from any other compact crossover.
Everything about the exterior is purpose built. The front bumper is specially designed to bring more fresh cool air to the engine. The rear diffuser and roof spoiler work together to improve the vehicle’s drag coefficient and allow the Q5 to move through the air with less restraint. The new wheels are a signature of the German tuners, the low profile tires allow the small SUV to go round corners easily improving grip and stability.

Volkswagen has already unveiled a Polo and a Golf inspired by their legendary GTI meet, Worthersee. Not one to be left out, the luxury arm of the VW family, Audi, brought their own customized Q5 to the show. The 2009 Audi Q5 custom concept is powered by a 3.0 Liter TFSI V6 that puts out 408 HP, up from the standard 333 HP. The additional output allows the Audi badged SUV to sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in just 4.4 seconds.

Audi unveiled the all-new Q5 in China at the Beijing Auto Show, a SUV that combines the dynamism of a sports sedan with highly variable interior and versatile options for leisure-time and family use.
The dimensions alone indicate that this is a SUV of all-new proportions. Measuring 4.63 meters (15.19 feet) long and 1.88 meters (6.17 feet) wide, the Audi Q5 is just 1.65 meters (5.41 feet) high – making it sportier than any of its competitors. What’s more, this SUV sets another benchmark in its class with a low drag coefficient of 0.33.
The Audi Q5 is rolling off the production line in three engine variants – one gasoline engine and two TDI units. All of the engines are direct-injection models with a turbocharger – characterized by outstanding performance, hefty propulsive power and cultivated running while at the same time offering impressive fuel efficiency.
The 2.0 TFSI has been entirely redesigned. The high torque of 350 Nm (258.15 lb-ft) is available at 1,500 rpm and remains constant up to 4,200 rpm, with performance peaking at 155 kW (211 hp). The Audi Q5 2.0 TFSI sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 7.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 222 km/h (137.94 mph). On average, the vehicle consumes just 8.5 liters of fuel per 100 km (27.67 mpg).
Drawing on four cylinders and two liters of displacement as well, the 2.0 TDI is superbly refined thanks to a new common-rail fuel injection system; like the gasoline engine, it has two balancing shafts. With 350 Nm (258.15 lb-ft) (between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm), this diesel engine delivers strong propulsive power at an outstanding 125 kW (170 hp). Average consumption of just 6.7 liters per 100 km (35.11 mpg) is proof of Audi’s successful efficiency strategy. The two-liter TDI catapults the Audi Q5 from 0 to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 9.5 seconds, peaking at a top speed of 204 km/h (126.76 mph).
The most powerful engine in the line-up is the 3.0 TDI. This V6 diesel engine delivers a gratifying 176 kW (240 hp), with 500 Nm (368.78 lb-ft) of torque available between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm.
