W Motors built 10 examples of the Lykan HyperSport stunt car out of which only one survived and it is now up for auction

Remember that scene from Fast and Furious 7 where the “We’re a family” gang gatecrashes a party in a skyscraper and tries to steal a chip from the uber-sexy Lykan HyperSport? Yeah, the red car that goes flying through three different skyscrapers before crashing? Well, W Motors produced 10 Lykan HyperSports for the movie out of which nine were crashed and one survived with a few battle scars. That scarred car is going up on auction as an NFT, courtesy of W Motors and RubiX Market.

2016 W Motors Fenyr SuperSport

Dubai’s alternative for the Pagani Huayra

Dubai-based supercar maker W Motors took the world by surprise in 2012 when it unveiled the Lykan Hypersport. Powered by a 770-horsepower flat-six engine built by RUF and sporting a radical design, the Lykan Hypersport had a claimed top speed of 245 mph. Production was limited at only five units per year and because of its exclusivity and the titanium, diamonds, and sapphires integrated into its fancy headlamps, pricing was set at an astounding $3.4 million. A little more than two years have passed since the Lykan HyperSport was shown to the world, and W Motors revealed its second production supercar.

Called the Fenyr SuperSport, the new supercar features even more radical styling and a significantly more powerful engine. Like its predecessor, the SuperSport was developed together with Magna Steyr and RUF Automobile.

Production is set to commence in 2017 right after the supercar makes its official debut, most likely at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show in China. Because production won’t be as limited as the HyperSport’s, the SuperSport will be more affordable than its predecessor, even though it will still be a million-dollar car. Find out more about that in our review.

Updated 04/14/2016: W Motors dropped a new video in which it explains how Fenyr SuperSport’s "Triptych" rear spoiler works. Hit "play" to watch it!

Abu Dhabi Police Adds Lykan Hypersport To Its Fleet

Abu Dhabi Police Adds Lykan Hypersport To Its Fleet

I don’t know much about politics within in the United Arab Emirates, but I’m guessing the equivalent of the Tea Party doesn’t exist there. If that were the case, they would have been sent into a tizzy over the Abu Dhabi Police force’s latest acquisition: a $3.4 million Lykan Hypersport. It’s Abu Dhab’s latest salvo in a supercar arms race with its neighbors to the North in Dubai, which also boasts an impressive fleet of supercar police cruisers.

Aka the car Vin Diesel jumped from one building to another in Furious 7 and built by W Motors in Dubai, the Lykan Hypersport is limited to just seven examples. A Porsche-sourced twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six sits amidship and has been tuned by Germany’s Ruf to produce 750 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque. That’s good enough to propel it to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 245 mph.

That’s fast, but it doesn’t really explain the roughly $2 million premium over something like a LaFerrari. That’s where the assortment of precious stones comes in. The headlight assemblies feature titanium blades that can be bedazzled with your choice of diamonds, yellow diamonds, rubies, sapphires or emeralds. Inside, the seats get gold-wire stitching and the infotainment screen uses a holographic mid-air display interface.

Furious 7 Behind The Scenes With Lykan Hypersport: Video

Furious 7 Behind The Scenes With Lykan Hypersport: Video

If you haven’t seen the trailer for the new Fast & Furious installment, simply called Furious 7, you owe it to yourself to check it out. I mean, at this point, Furious 7 is really just trying to one-up F&F 1-6, right?

Either way, the new one features all the typical hijinks you’d expect. That means tire-shredding car chases, ridiculous stunts, wanton violence, and face-palming one-liners: all necessary components of an entertaining action film, if you ask me.

One of the more memorable stunts takes place between two skyscrapers in Dubai, where a Lykan Hypersport seems to momentarily sprout wings en route to a crash landing in an adjacent lower floor. It’s a neat way to show off multiple angles of a $3.4 million car, but like any decent trailer should, it leaves you wanting more.

For those of you incapable of waiting until Furious 7 is released on April 3rd, YouTuber RossoCorsa10 is bringing some behind the scenes footage from the set tucked away somewhere in the UAE. We see a gaggle of red Lykans (must be movie cars and not actual examples, right?!), plus a few snippets of leaked footage undergoing editing.

Some say the series is no longer about cars, but I disagree. It’s just the stock has been upgraded from Mitsubishis with to ultra-rare hypercars. The result, however, is still the same: gratuitous mechanical abuse and plenty of pyrotechnics. And thank goodness for that.

Video: Hear The $3 million W Motors Lykan Hypersport

It’s pretty safe to say that there are probably only a handful of cars in this world that can line up next to the Lykan Hypersport and not get intimidated by its presence. There’s nothing quite like a $3.4 million supercar that has that predator look about it, all while carrying 750 horsepower and 750 pound-feet of torque under its hood.

Speaking of its RUF-sourced twin-turbocharged boxer six crate motor, it’s one of those engines that you have to be able to hear up close in order to appreciate it. The sheer roar when you start it up does its ’Lykan’ name very proud, as this video from Marchinetto shows.

This is probably the best two minutes you’re going to spend today, and that’s not an exaggeration. Not only do you get to see the supercar in ways and angles you haven’t seen before, but you also get to appreciate all the work W Motors put into piecing this machine together.

From there, cap it off by closing your eyes, dialing up the volume, and just listen to it scream. And boy, it’s got that kind of piercing roar that just gives you goosebumps.

Honestly, we never thought the Lykan Hypersport would see production and we were prepared for a huge let down. But, here it is in all of its greatness and damn does it sound good.

The Lykan HyperSport Is Ready! W Motors Confirms Debut For Dubai Motor Show

The Lykan HyperSport Is Ready! W Motors Confirms Debut For Dubai Motor Show

Production versions of hypercars with pricing above $3,000,000 are generally a pretty rare sight.

That will be the case with the W Motors Lykan, of which the company plans to build only ten copies before moving on to a Lykan Targa or cheaper Lykan SuperSport models.

This company seems to be more in-touch with reality that some other follies from this region, including the laughable Laraki Epitome that is nothing more than a Corvette C6.R with a hideous new body.

But super cars like the Lykan HyperSport typically make their world debuts at major auto shows like Geneva or Frankfurt.

Even so, it is more fitting for the production Lykan to be unveiled near W Motors headquarters on the main stretch of central Dubai. Lack of European sales could contribute to the local debut, because this is where the main buyers are as well.

So get your pens, checkbooks and cameras ready, fellas. There’s a new Veyron chaser on Dubai’s sandy highways.

W Motors is ready to unveil at the production version of the beastly Lykan HyperSport at the Dubai International Motor Show this coming November.

As far as delivering the fantasy specs of the 2013 winter show prototype, W Motors has done really well. In terms of luxury features for the production model, W Motors has fitted the hyper car with a slew of new goodies, including:

holographic central display HUD with interactive motion and tactile interaction an advanced ID4Motion dashboard bespoke rear-hinged scissor doors with remote operation diamond encrusted LED lights gold-stitched interior seats a personal elite concierge service a unique and patented design of Cyrus Klepcys watch available only for HyperSport buyers, but tagged with a retail price of $300,000-plus in value. (For the watch, not the car.)

Talk about trying to live up to its proclamation of its model being "the most luxurious, exclusive and technologically advanced hypercar in the world."

2013 W Motors Lykan Hypersport

2013 W Motors Lykan Hypersport

W Motors is at full throttle developing and producing ten copies of its debut Lykan HyperSport model. The company has been building buzz since the 2013 Qatar Motor Show by relocating from Beirut to a swanky showroom in Dubai and releasing some previews of the holographic interior for the first time.

The motivation to create a world-beating supercar is easy to understand. As seen by the success of Koenigsegg and Pagani, the supercar business is open to assault from talented newcomers — much more than the volume car business. However, for every Pagani there are 20 failed companies trying to crack the same egg. So the odds are not good, but the reward is potentially enormous.

So, is this Lykan set to stalk its prey in the form of Lamborghinis, Paganis and Bugattis like its mythical namesake does? Or will this simply be another drop in the bucket of failed attempts at infiltrating the supercar market? Only time will tell.

W Motors Already has More Than 100 Orders for the LykanHypersport

Despite carrying a ridiculous price tag of $3.4 million, it looks like Arabian supercar builder, W Motors, will have no problems selling their 750-horsepower hypercar, the LykanHypersport.

Recently, the company announced that they had already received more than 100 orders for the LykanHypersport, a staggering number given the retail price it has. Then again, it might not be too far-fetched, considering the car’s main market is the Middle East, home to some of the richest people in the world who probably wouldn’t even notice the $3.4 million missing.

For all that money, you get a car that not only looks about as aggressive as the mythical wolf monsters attached to its name, but one that apparently had the design influence of the Magna Steyr design studio in Italy.

That probably explains why the supercar will be initially built in Italy before production continues in the Middle East sometime after.

And, did we mention the car produces 750 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque with a 0-to-60 mph time of 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 245 mph?

W Motors preparing two new supercar models: the Hyper-Sport and the Super-Sport

W Motors.

Pay attention to that name because they’re about to turn the supercar world upside down later this year.

This company comes by way of Beirut, Lebanon and recently, they stopped the industry on its tracks with the announcement of two supercars that will be the first pair of exotics to be exclusively built by the Middle Eastern nation.

The cars, called the Hyper-Sport and the Super-Sport, will be built by W Motors in collaboration with some of the best industry partners you can assemble, including Magna Steyr Torino, RUF Automobile, and Studiotorino. Together, they make up the team that will bring to life a pair of supercars that will be unlike anything we’ve seen before.

Details surrounding the Super-Sport have yet to be revealed so we’ll keep that on the back burner for now. As far as the Hyper-Sport is concerned, W Motors has already set a limited run of just five units for the model, with a debut expected around the end of the year.

According to W Motors, the Hyper-Sport will feature a host of ridiculous features, including a carbon fiber frame, a gold-plated hood, signature diamond-incrusted LED lights, gold or platinum keys, and a holographic display unit. Umm...wow.

On top of that, the Hyper-Sport will also come with a mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged, six-cylinder engine that will produce in excess of 750 horsepower while carrying a 0-62 mph time of just 2.8 seconds and a targeted top speed of 240 mph.

Yeah, ’wow’ was right. Now let’s see if they can pull it off.
