After 29 months of speculations, British motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph, and one of the biggest Indian motorcycle honcho, Bajaj, have formally commenced their desire to produce a brand new range of mid-capacity motorcycles for the world. Both the companies are looking out to handle operations together and bring in sophisticated motorcycles with a low cost of production.

A few days ago, Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto said, "We are very close to finalising a very promising alliance, it’s not certain, that it will happen, but if it happens, it will open up enormous possibilities for the company."

Today, however, a press release cleared the air and has managed to lift up all eyebrows. The alliance Bajaj was talking about was a global partnership with the British legendary motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph.

A week ago, rumours filled the news about Harley-Davidson being the top contenders to buy the luxury two-wheeler Italian marquee from Volkswagen. For no fault of theirs, except for them being owned by VW, Ducati could possibly see a change of hands since the German company is in considerations of selling brands under its portfolio.

Now, there could be a new chapter in Ducati’s history books, courtesy, the Volkswagen Diesel Gate scandal. If reports are to be believed, KTM-Bajaj was approached by the German company to buy out the Italian brand, an initiative taken towards the new financial strategy set out by the company post the Diesel Gate scandal.

2012 Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-i

The new generation Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-has a lot to love. It delivers decent performances, offers a comfortable riding position and is pretty safe as well. The Bajaj Pulsar 180 was especially built for the Indian market. 2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS

One of the newest models launched by Bajaj is the 2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS. The new generation was launched in April 2012 and features a modern design language combined with a host of fresh technologies.

One of the news features available for the 2012 Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS is the new headlamp which is fitted with a 55 watt lamp.

Power comes from a 4-valve 200cc, SOHC engine which features three sparkplug technology. The Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS engine delivers a peak power of 23,17 HP at 9500 RPM and a maximum torque of 18,3 Nm at 8000 RPM. Thanks to its strong engine the Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS is able to hit the 60 kmph mark in 3.61 seconds, while the 100 kmph speed is reached in 9.83 seconds. The company says that the maximum speed is rated at 9.82 seconds.

2012 Bajaj Discover 100

The first Bajaj Discover 100 was launched in 2004 and since then, hasn’t received any major upgrades. Fortunately, the company has finally decided the time has come to give it a small facelift. However there aren’t many significant differences between the two models, as technically they are almost the same.

The 2012 Bajaj Discover is powered by a single cylinder, 4 stroke, air cooled engine with a displacement of 94.38 cc. The engine cranks out Ps at 7500 and 7.85 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm and is one of the most reliable units in its class.

Apart from its reliable engine, the bike features a digital CDI with an 8 bit microprocessor chip which helps to provide optimum ignition timing for any given engine rpm. You also get the throttle ignition control system (TRICS III) which helps to offer an almost perfect ignition spark advance for every throttle opening and engine rpm.

The new generation Discover 100 is available in three color combinations - gold/black, green/black and red/black. It’s also worthy of being mentioned that like the new Bajaj Pulsar, the 2012 Bajaj Discover 100 is equipped with LED lamps at the back.

2012 Bajaj Pulsar 150

The Bajaj Pulsar 150 is one of the best looking bikes in Bajaj’s lineup and borrows many design cues from the Pulsar 180 and Pulsar 200 models.

The bike is powered a by 4-stroke, DTS-i, air cooled, single cylinder, 149.01cc which rewards you with a maximum output of 15.06 Ps @ 9000 and 12.5 Nm of torque @ 6500. The engine is combined with Digital CDI unit and twin spark ignitions which assure optimum ignition timing for any engine rpm resulting in better throttle response and reduced emissions.

The motorcycle is built on a strong frame which offers a wheelbase length of 1320 mm. Talking about the wheels, they measure 17 inch and are wrapped in 2.75 x 17" front and 100 / 90 x 17" rear tube tyres.

The ride is kept in check by a telescopic front suspension with anti friction bushes and a Nitrox rear suspension.

2012 Bajaj Platina

Bajaj Auto decided to upgrade its Platina model for the year 2012. The new version features a series of new graphics as well as new technologies. Apart from the new range of colors the 2012 model also features new levers, grips, mirrors and switchgear. Moreover, the new Bajaj Platina borrows some features and design cues from the Bajaj Wind and Bajaj CT 100 models.

At the heart of the bike beats a 124.6cc, 4 stroke, DTS-Si engine which delivers a maximum output of 8.5 bhp at 7000 rpm and 10 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. As far as dimensions go, the Bajaj Platina is 1990mm long, 770mm wide and 1090mmtall.

The bike is also equipped with the ExhaustTEC system which is basically a small device incorporated in the exhaust system. This device improves engine torque at low revs without compromising anything at mid or high engine revs.

2012 Bajaj Discover 125

Bajaj Auto revealed a new motorcycle named the Discover 125. The bike was designed as an economy model and is offered with a very competitive price tag of only $9.000 for the base model and $10.000 for the version equipped with front disc brakes.

Power comes from a DTS-i, 4-stroke, Natural air cooled, engine with a displacement of 124.6 cc and a maximum output of 11 Ps achieved at 8000 rpm. The company says that its engine can run 82 kilometers, burning only a single liter of fuel. This performance was achieved thanks to the new DTSi (Digital Twin Spark-Ignition) technology which has two sparkplugs with different ignition timing. The Bajaj Discover 125 develops a top speed of 100 kmph and is offered with plenty of features such as LED tailamps, rear Nitrox suspensions, tripmeter and also an electric starter.

2012 Bajaj Avenger 220

The Bajaj Avenger 220 is basically the improved version of the old Avenger 180. The new bike features an elegant design, longer handlebars and a large windshield. You also get a pretty big tank which features an ergonomic design and delivers a pretty generous range.

The engine was borrowed from the Pulsar 220 and Street Fighter 220. It develops a maximum power of 19.03 @ 8400 and 17.5 Nm of torque @ 7000. The engine features digital twin spark ignition for efficient combustion. For increased performances the Avenger 220 is also equipped with the ExhausTEC system which improves engine torque at low revs without compromising anything at mid or high engine revs.

Another interesting feature is the third generation throttle ignition control system. This system allows you to control the ignition by operating the throttle. It also helps in achieving a good balance between driveability and optimum ignition spark advance, resulting in an almost perfect ignition spark advance for every throttle opening and engine rpm.
