We’ve finally caught Mercedes-Maybach GLS facelift that’s due in 2023, however, don’t get too excited because there’s not a lot happening yet. For the most part, this is a current model, with only portions of the rear covered. This means that, for now, all Mercedes is working on updating is the rear taillights, which will likely receive little more than a new matrix design.

As for the front end, you can expect some mild changes there as well, however, much like the rear, the changes will be quite minimal. You can expect the changes to mimic – to some extent – what we’ve seen on the new Mercedes GLE. As for the inside, sources from within Mercedes have said that the facelifted Maybach GLS will be the recipient of the steering wheel from the new Mercedes S-Class, while the graphics on both the instrument cluster and the infotainment system will also be refreshed. With that said, it’s still really early, and Mercedes could come up with a new surprise between now and 2023, so until then, enjoy the gallery I’ve posted below.

It was September, 1921 when Maybach Motorenbau GmbH presented its first mass-produced car at the motor show in Berlin. The model was named W3 and it was the first German production car with four-wheel brakes, an epicyclic gear system, and an interior with the finest materials.

To commemorate the event, Maybach launched the special "Edition 100". It will be based on both the S-Class and the GLS, each limited to 100 units. In Europe, orders will begin in the fourth quarter of 2021 and sales at the beginning of 2022. The U.S. market will only get the sedan version with sales to begin in the first half of 2022.

Daimler debuts its very first all-electric Maybach, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS concept, at the IAA show in Munich. This SUV is a glimpse of what the production car will look like.

Every now and then, we come across highly exclusive vehicles with an interesting story behind them. This is exactly the case with this Maybach 57S Coupe. Maybach is a very old car brand, which was briefly revived by Mercedes, back in 2002. Two versions – the 57 and 62 – were produced, each with their respective derivatives. Although over 3,000 cars were built in total, there were no coupes. That is until German coachbuilder Xenatec stepped in and converted some of the shorter 57S models. This is one of them and it was supposed to be delivered to a certain head of state - something, which never happened.

Mercedes, as a company in general, has been on a roll lately – which is especially true when you look at its electrification efforts. The company now has the Mercedes EQA, EQB, EQC, and the EQS luxury saloon that will serve as a luxury EV halo car. The new EQ brand is obviously going very well, but what about other brands like AMG and Maybach? And, does the G-Class have a future considering the sudden shift to electrification? Well, as it turns out, Daimler – the parent company of Mercedes (and by relation, Maybach) – has huge plans, and this could change everything.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 is based on the standard Mercedes GLS SUV. It costs twice as much as the GLS but is a lot more premium and plusher. The Maybach-affiliation to the SUV puts it right at the top with the likes of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and the Bentley Bentayga. It isn’t as expensive as the British brands, but comes with enough tech and luxuriousness to keep you happy if you don’t want to spend a lot of money. It comes with a V-8 engine under the hood to help it propel to 60 mph in less than four seconds. The looks, however, isn’t the GLS600’s strong suit.

While it seems a good package overall, will a Bentayga or a Cullinan customer consider the GLS600? Or will a standard GLS customer upgrade to it, for that matter?

If we’re being honest here, the new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class was just a matter of when not if. So here it is in all its chrome-y flashiness, coming to satisfy the needs and desires of those who believe the regular S-Class simply won’t cut it.

The 2021 Mercedes-Maybach GLS is the range-topping version of the third-generation SUV, launched in 2019 for the 2020 model year. It’s the second Maybach SUV ever built after the 2018 G650 Landaulet, but the first one that’s not a limited-edition vehicle. Inspired by the Maybach S-Class,, the 2021 Maybach GLS is a fancied up GLS with extra luxury features, exclusive appointments, and a unique drivetrain. Performance-wise, it slots between the GLS 580 and the AMG GLS 63 S., And just like the rest of the lineup, its gasoline engine works in conjunction with a 48-volt EQ Boost system. The Mercedes GLS now has a hotter, sexier sister that wears a Maybach badge and a whole lot of model-exclusive features. Naturally, the interior is the epitome of luxury, ranking up there with the best of the best, but the exterior has been updated to make it stand out in the GLS lineup as well. This includes the two-tone exterior finish, the massive chrome grille, and the cheese grater-like insert in the front fascia. That part we can’t really get onboard with but the rest of it looks amazing.

Under the hood sits an AMG-sourced V-8 that’s paired with a 48-volt electrical system and EQ boost. The engine alone delivers 558 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque while the EQ Boost function pumps out another 22 ponies and 184 pound-feet. So, despite the lack of the usual V-12 engine, this Maybach will get you to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds but will top out at 155 mph when the electronic governor kicks in. Sales for this luxrious people mover kicks off in the second half of 2020 and pricing is expect to start out north of the $200,000 mark.

Arguably, the most crucial launch event at the 2019 New York Auto Show was that of the third-generation Mercedes-Benz GLS. The flagship luxury SUV from Mercedes will take on the BMW X7 soon, but Mercedes could actually be cooking up a version that would aim straight at the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Insane? Not for those who saw the Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury Concept up close and personal.

After three years since the GLS name was introduced as part of Mercedes’ refreshment of its model nameplates, a new generation was introduced. Given the American consumer’s propensity for buying oversized SUVs, the 2020 GLS was introduced at the New York Auto Show, and the first news that came from the unveiling got us thinking. For starters, there won’t be any electric version due to the limited demand for an SUV of this size featuring an electric drivetrain and, on the other hand, for those craving for power, there will be an AMG version or maybe a few.

But, maybe the most significant thing we heard, via Dr. Andreas Zygan, Mercedes’ Head of SUV Development, was that the S Class of SUVs might get the Maybach treatment just like the S Class of the sedans did. This sort of comes as a confirmation for the rumors we’ve seen lingering in the air for a few years. We went as far as writing a speculative review for it but only now can we say we’re getting closer and closer to a Maybach SUV actually happening. Mercedes previewed this possibility with the latest of the Maybach Vision concept that was presented in 2018.

What you are seeing on these photos is a specially prepared Mercedes-Benz V-Class rigged out with Maybach gear. Of course, it is not a stock production model, but a finely customized V-Class probably produced for the French coach-limousine service - CLS Paris - where it is currently in service. This particular Maybach V-Class was filmed some time ago on the streets of Paris, and within the CLS Paris coach service, it complements the fleet with a couple of other high-end cars - including the equally black Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

In contrast to any other stock V-Class, this particular one comes with a fully customized interior - the same quality found in Mercedes-Maybach cars. That’s what makes this particular V-Class that incredible in the world of cars.

The first prototype of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS has been spotted testing in Germany prior to its debut at the Los Angeles motor show. This is the top-of-the-line Maybach model. Mercedes is planning to expand the Maybach line-up with lavish models, and what better way to do that than to add the GLS to a portfolio known mainly for stretched limos!

Mercedes is looking to capture as much market share possible with the Maybach brand. While AMG is doing well on its own with performance cars, Maybach is still relying on Mercedes and building high-end versions of the S-Class sedan. However, Autocar reports that Maybach could soon revive itself as an independent brand that builds its own standalone vehicles - Much like AMG has gone with the GT lineup.

I know we usually hand out awards for the best and worst of the auto industry at the end of the year, but I’m going to start early in 2018 and give Mercedes-Maybach a medal for the worst car design of the year. And the award goes to the Vision Ultimate Luxury, which made its debut among a handful of China-exclusive vehicles at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show. Yes, it’s that ugly!

Okay, I don’t know what the guys over at Mercedes were smoking when the greenlit the design of the Maybach Ultimate Luxury SUV (Not that it’s an SUV, really) but just like everyone else in the world we’re not to keen on the overall design. In fairness, the front end isn’t bad, but the overall shape is about as ugly as they come. Well, Peisert design was a bit disappointed too, and that’s exactly why you’re looking at the rendering here. Peisert Design too the new Maybach and reshaped the rear end to make it look like a true-to-life SUV. And, it looks amazing.

In the end, Mercedes should take some notes from the rendering here. After seeing all the horrible comments all over the internet about the new Ultimate Luxury “SUV,” it really makes you wonder how things are going over there at headquarters. Either way, feast your eyes on what the Ultimate Luxury SUV should have been, then try to forget that it doesn’t exist in this form.

Revived in 1997 after more than 50 years of absence, the Maybach brand didn’t make much of an impact on the luxury market, with its

based models failing to impress against the Rolls-Royces and the Bentleys. As a result, Mercedes-Benz discontinued the name in 2012. The brand returned as Mercedes-Maybach in 2015, and although it still delivers revised S-Class sedans with longer wheelbases and more luxury features, it aims to offer other Mercedes vehicles too. Unlike its predecessor, Mercedes-Maybach also produced concept cars, with a pair of Vision 6 two-door models showcasing spectacular designs. Come 2018 and Maybach unveiled its third concept car, this time around design to preview an upcoming SUV.

Called the Vision Ultimate Luxury, this new concept vehicle is said to preview the Maybach version of the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. However, the concept itself isn’t exactly an SUV, but a hybrid design that combines the features of a utility vehicle with the rear end of a notchback sedan. Inside the cabin, the Ultimate Luxury is actually more production friendly than the Vision 6 coupe, while its all-electric drivetrain is identical with the other two Maybach concept cars. It definitely won’t make it into production in this form, but it previews a few interesting design cues and technologies. Let’s find out more in the review below.

Mercedes’ highly-anticipated Maybach Ultimate Luxury concept just made its debut ahead of the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, and it looks, well... weird. Believed to preview the Maybach version of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLS, the Ultimate Luxury concept combines the styling features of an SUV with those of a notchback sedan. Mercedes says that it combines the most successful body styles in China, but it’s definitely not the best design exercise out there.
