Rental car company Hertz was in pretty bad shape in 2020, but things have now turned for the better. The company exited bankruptcy earlier this year, and thanks to a massive order of 100,000 Teslas, both companies stock prices soared, pushing Tesla’s company value at more than $1 trillion.

It’s a well-known fact that EVs are better swimmers than internal combustion engines. But, how much better? Are they good at just wading, or can they actually “swim”? Well, Chet from ‘Chillin’ with Chet’ tested this out on his new Tesla Model S Plaid and proved that EVs can actually even be submerged! Of course, a lot of prep went into this ‘submarine test’, so don’t even think about trying this with your electric vehicle!

The Tesla Model S Plaid has shamed so many beloved supercars and sports cars in the past on the drag strip. It is arguably one of the hottest factory cars when it comes to drag racing. And, it only seems to be the start. The Plaid has been spied repeatedly with an Aero Package that will only improve its track and straight-line performances. While we wait for that to come, the standard Plaid has been continuing its dominance, this time taking down a 700-horsepower Porsche 911 Turbo S Other than the Rimac Nevera, is there any other worthy opponent for the Plaid right now?

The Tesla Model S Plaid was spotted testing at the Nürburgring recently with an aero package equipped. Now, three prototypes have been spotted by our spy photographers on the ‘Ring as well as on the public roads. The highlight, of course, is the aero package and that active rear spoiler, but we also spotted it riding on different tires on the public roads and the track. With the way the testing is going, we think the package will be released soon.

It’s not every day that you get to run alongside and race a cop car. But with the “Take it to the Track” event currently underway at the Orlando Speedway World, you can. When Tesla decided to up the ante with the Model S, it had two versions in the pipeline – the Plaid and the Plaid+. However, in June 2020, Elon Musk announced on Twitter that the Plaid+ is canceled since the “Plaid is just so good”. Brooks from DragTimes brought two of his prized possessions from his collection to the drag strip. One of them is the Tesla Model S Plaid and the other, a Lamborghini Huracan EVO. The Huracan EVO is no slouch by any means, but it was no match for the Model S Plaid. All the Lamborghini models will be electrified by 2024, so until, then, the Lamborghini models might face humiliation this way against the likes of fast EVs.

No matter how many times we see the Tesla Model S Plaid crush its competitors, we still can’t have enough of it. While most of its rivals lose within the first couple of seconds of a drag race, there are some which show grit and determination. One of them is the Porsche Taycan Turbo S – the best EV model that Porsche has to offer. But, I’m afraid, even that isn’t much of a competition.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed that the company’s headquarters will be relocated from California to Texas at the 2021 Annual Meeting of Stockholders event. The famed EV automaker was previously based in Palo Alto, in Silicon Valley. However, last year, Musk vowed to relocate the company’s headquarters to Texas in response to the closing of its primary facility in Fremont outside, San Francisco. He was dissatisfied with the factory’s temporary closure owing to Covid restrictions.

The Tesla Model S Plaid has been in the news ever since it came to life. It is undoubtedly the king of drag strips and has proven its might enough number of times in the past. Whether it’s the McLaren 765 LT, the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, the Nissan GT-R, the Dodge Demon, or heck, even a 1,200-horsepower Mustang GT500; the Plaid has obliterated all of them.

But, in the midst of all this, we’ve forgotten what a beast the standard Tesla Model S is. But, the folks at Carwow have reminded us of the EV’s prowess on the drag strip by pitting it against the Mercedes-Benz S-Class S500.

Tesla may lead the market when it comes to electric cars, but there is a sector there it is pretty much absent: the supercar area. The new generation Tesla Roadster announced new and impressive performance figures, but so far it has yet to go into production. So, on paper, with a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 1.9 seconds, it could take on cars like the Lotus Evija or Rimac Never. In real life though, that doesn’t happen!

For the longest time, I’ve refused to acknowledge the Mach-E to have the Mustang spirit. But, it looks like I’ll have to change that now. The Mach-E just gave us solid proof that it has the Mustang DNA by failing a moose test that its rivals passed without breaking a sweat. The Mach-E swayed across and fishtailed its way into the cones at the first turn. The original Mustang must be smiling with tears in its eyes looking at the Mach-E.
