Buick

Buick is like GM’s middle car brand, positioned between its basic Chevy brand and luxurious Cadillac brand. It was one of the first automobile companies in the United States and dates all the way back to 1899 when it was called Buick Auto-Vim and Power Company. In 1903 it became Buick Motor Company and has been in business ever since. Over the years, the company has produced a number of iconic vehicles, including the Buick Roadmaster and Buick Super in the 1940s, the Buick Skylark, GSX, Regal, and Riviera in the ‘60s and ‘70s. Some of these names have carried over to today, and Buck’s lineup includes 11 vehicles, more than 50-percent of which are still sedans. It’s actually one of the few automakers that hasn’t announced some push into the SUV segment that will discontinue its lower-riding vehicles, but it’s not likely that the Buick Cascada or Regal TourX will last much longer on the market.

Darth Vader Would Blush At The Sight Of This 1986 Supercharged Buick Regal With Sequential Gears And Over 1,000 Horsepower

Cars from the 1980s are slowly rising in popularity, as cars like the Lancia Delta Integrale and Porsche 928 have become particularly sought-after collector cars. When it comes to American cars from that era, there really isn’t a whole lot of excitement, because of the oil crisis and severe restrictions, choking performance out of cars. That said, the YouTube channel AutoTopiaLA is giving us the tour of a 1986 Buick Regal resto-mod that has almost nothing in common with the original car.

Here’s a List Of Nine Non-Exotic Rare Cars That Hide In Plain Sight

These vehicles aren’t exotic like the Ferraris and Lamborghinis, but some of them are beyond rare

When you talk about rare cars, you probably think of high-end Bugattis, Ferraris, Porsches, etc. No one would think of a regular production car to be a rare one, unless it is a vintage. But, surprisingly, many cars are actually quite rare and get lost in the crowd without getting noticed. Unless you have a keen eye or you’re a diehard petrol head, you too may not have noticed them. Doug DeMuro lists nine such rare cars that you might have walked or driven by without giving it a second look.

2022 Buick Enclave

2022 Buick Enclave

The Buick Enclave has been updated for the 2022 model year, with design elements inspired by the Envision and the Encore GX

Following the updated Buick Envision and Encore GX, Buick has given the Enclave a thorough workover. The exterior appearance has been improved thanks to Buick’s sharper design language, and you can even see some elements inspired by the Avenir too. The front fascia, grille, and headlights have all be updated, while Sport Touring models benefit from new 20-inch wheels. On the inside, Buick did everyone a justice by restyling the center console and a push-button electronic transmission gear selector. The cabin now has updated soft materials and the front seats are ventilated with a massage function. The Buick Enclave is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 that is good for 210 horsepower, and that is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Power is sent to the front wheels, but if you’re willing to pay for the upgrade, you can have all-wheel drive. The 2022 Buick Enclave will launch later on in 2021 following a pricing announcement sometime in late summer or early fall.

1985 Buick Wildcat Concept - The Car You’ve Definitely Forgotten About

Here’s what we know about Buick’s forgotten mid-engine concept car

Cars of the 1980s often stand out as some of the most exaggerated and unapologetic when it comes to their styling. Most of you probably know about cars like the Ferrari Testarossa and Lamborghini Countach, which was actually conceived in the 1970s. Although these are some of the poster cars from that era, there were many other interesting designs that never made it to production. In 1985, Buick decided to show us what their interpretation of a mid-engine supercar would look like. This endeavor spawned the 1985 Buick Wildcat Concept, which was undeservingly forgotten, like many others.

Can an Abandoned 1968 Buick LeSabre Start and Drive After Sitting 26 years?

They say you can’t keep a good car down, but how much damage has time done to this Buick, exactly?

If you are reading this, there’s a 99-percent probability that you are a car enthusiast. If you are, then at some point you’ve probably been romanticizing about finding an abandoned car, restoring it, and driving it. Speaking of which, this video from Vice Grip Garage just so happens to showcase “rescues” like these.

2020 Buick Encore GX - Driven

2020 Buick Encore GX - Driven

The Encore GX is a no non-sense SUV with a small footprint, but that’s about it

The Buick Encore GX is marketed as a small luxury SUV and it lives up to its name. It comes with a lot of features in the base trim and offers two engine options and drive layouts for you to choose from. The SUV looks decent on the outside, is as spacious as its rivals on the inside, and generates enough grunt to keep you happy pottering around in the city. For tasks like carrying your grocery and taking your kid to school, this urban commuter does its job well. But, expecting anything beyond it is a cardinal sin. With a fairly low starting price and heavy discounts on offer, will you choose this over the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1?

Buick’s Future Is Looking Pretty Bright Thanks to the Electra Concept

The iconic Buick Electra returns as an all-electric crossover

Although General Motors is selling a couple of electric cars, none of them are coming into showrooms with a Buick badge. But this will change soon because Buick just unveiled an all-electric concept that previews at least one production model. It’s called the Electra, a name Buick used on an iconic full-size car produced from 1959 to 1990, which means it’s a very important project for the brand. Unveiled in Shanghai, it’s developed by GM’s Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center in China, it debuts a new design language, and features an advanced battery system called Ultium.

Shanghai Buick Showcases Four New Models, Including the All-New Encore and the VELITE 6

Buick is more than just your grandfather’s auto brand in the world’s biggest car market

Buick has arrived at Auto Shanghai 2019, and it’s brought with it not one, but four vehicles to the event. The all-new Encore crossover leads the four-vehicle lineup, and it’s joined by the long-wheelbase Encore GX, the GL8 Avenir Concept MPV, and the VELITE 6 MAV electric vehicle. All four vehicles are integral to Buick’s long-term plans in the Chinese market. The Encore SUVs, as well as the VELITE 6 MAV, are all part of Buick’s plan to introduce eight new and/or refreshed models in the Chinese market. The automaker’s aggressive approach in the Chinese market may catch some people here by surprise, but the American automaker, which has lost a lot of its shine in its home soil, is treated as an aspirational automaker among the Chinese, particularly the country’s younger demographic. Knowing that gives you an idea why Buick holds is going all-out at Auto Shanghai 2019 with four models that more or less represents the automaker’s future offerings in the world’s biggest auto market.

Best Used 2016 SUV for Fuel Economy

Who said these big boys can’t run efficiently?

The market trend is quickly shifting from sedans to crossovers and SUVs. However, SUVs have two major cons when compared to their segment counterparts - high retail price and poor fuel economy. Now that we’ve planted this seed in your head, let’s have a look at the best used SUVs from 2016 with high fuel efficiency.

13 Crossover Wagons You Could Buy Instead of an SUV

13 Crossover Wagons You Could Buy Instead of an SUV

Buck the trend, get a wagon!

High-riding vehicles, like crossovers and SUVs are at the height of popularity right now, but they’re not the only way to go if you want practicality and some off-road capability. Crossover style raised wagons are a great alternative and while they can still drive you over a rough field or rutted road with ease, they’re better to drive on road and actually pretty stylish.

They are essentially the wagon versions of different cars which have gained extra ride height and plastic cladding on the outside to protect them from scratches in their most vulnerable points. These vehicles usually have standard all-wheel drive and are usually a higher trim level, so they are not cheap (compared to the vehicle they’re based on) but they also come with a lot of equipment.

Here’s a list of the 13 coolest crossover-style wagons you can buy today.

This is Why You Will Simply Fall In Love With The New Luxurious Buick Regal Avenir

This is Why You Will Simply Fall In Love With The New Luxurious Buick Regal Avenir

Is This The Most Luxurious Buick Regal Of All Time?

Buick wants to do with its Avenir trim much the same what GMC did with its Denali. It is a pseudo-luxury sub-brand created to move usually mediocre cars into the world of utmost luxury.

Up until this point, Buick did just that with the Enclave Avenir, the LaCrosse Avenir, and the GL8 Avenir (only available in China,) but they’ve just revealed that the Avenir luxury trim will land on the Buick Regal Sportback.

In an expected turn of events, the Avenir trim line garnished the 2019 Buick Regal Sportback with serious luxurious gear differentiating it from the current top of the line trim called the Preferred II.

“Avenir sales have exceeded our expectations,” said Phil Brook, Vice President, Buick and GMC Marketing. “Buick customers value the exclusive styling, premium features and convenient experience Avenir provides, and we are excited to extend that successful formula to Regal.”

For now, the 2019 Buick Regal Avenir is available only in the Sportback guise with a 2.0-liter, turbocharged engine developing 250 horsepower, with a front wheel drive, and advanced nine-speed automatic transmission.

2018 Buick Enspire

2018 Buick Enspire

Buick’s vision of the future

The year is 2018, and every automaker has their vision for the future. With the current trend, it should come as no surprise that most of those “vision” concepts are crossovers, SUVs or coupe-like crossovers. Such is the case with Bucks latest concept, the Enspire – a model Buick says is an “exploration of its bold design ideas and innovative technologies for future mobility.” PR Talk aside, it does have a stylish and sleek design that’s still somewhat within the realm of reality. It’s said to feature augmented reality, a conceptual form of 5G internet connectivity, and has an all-electric drivetrain that’s powerful enough to get it up to 60 mph in just four seconds. Whether or not Buick will last long enough for a concept like this to come to life remains to be seen but let’s take a closer look at it anyway.

Buick’s Cooking Up An Electric Concept To Show Off in Beijing

To the surprise of absolutely no one, it’s an electric SUV concept

Buick is continuing its brand revival with a new concept vehicle that’s scheduled to debut at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show in April. Its China debut also isn’t by accident; the General has been excessively aggressive in establishing the Buick brand in China, a country where the automaker sells most of its models.

What is the Least Expensive Buick?

The cheapest model in Buick’s lineup is the Buick Encore. This subcompact SUV starts out at around $23,000 but can approach the $30,000 mark when fully equipped. In terms of cars, the cheapest model is the fairly sporty Regal Sportback. It starts out around $25,000 but fully equipped models can approach the $35,000 - $40,000 range.

What is the Sportiest Buick?

Buick is considered a more luxurious line of Chevy, and the only sporty model in the brand’s entire lineup is the Buick Regal GS. It is powered by a 3.6-liter V-6 that’s good for 310 horsepower and 282 pound-feet of torque. It offers some 60 horsepower more than the standard regal and should get you to 60 mph in around six seconds with its top speed sitting around the 150-mph mark. The Buick Regal GS starts out at $39,000 and can go beyond the $40,000 mark when fully equipped.

What is the Most Popular Buick?

Despite Buick’s history with amazing cars, its most popular models are the Encore and Enclave crossovers. The three-row Enclave gets a lot of attention because of its sheer size and utility, but the much smaller Encore crossover is Buicks bestseller with sales increasing steadily since 2013 in the U.S. 2018 was the best year for the Encore yet, with Buick moving a total of 93,073 examples throughout the year. Through June of 2019, the brand has already sold 48,897 examples, so it’s quite possible the Encore will be Buick’s best seller yet again.

What is the Fastest Buick?

The fastest Buick is the Regal GS, which can hit 60 mph in around six seconds and a top speed of 150-ish mph. Of course, Buick is a luxury brand that sits below Cadillac, so none of its models are actually intended to be all that fast – it’s more about comfort than anything.

Are Buicks Reliable?

While everyone seems to think that Japanese and Korean models are generally more dependable, the truth is that Buick actually ranks in the 5 of dependable automotive brands. J.D Power’s 2019 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study places Buick in the No. 5 spot with a total of 118 problems reported per 100 vehicles made (PP100). This places it below Chevy with 115 PP100, Toyota with 108 PP100, Porsche with 108 PP100, and the No. 1 brand, Lexus, with 106 PP100 reported. Oddly, sister brand Cadillac is ranked No. 24 with a score of 166 PP100, so you’re better off buying a Buick than you are a Cadillac.
