In its 112 years on the market, Bugatti has been known for offering three important things: heritage, innovation and the finest craftsmanship. Its cars were always special in one way or another and always offered never-before-seen levels of personalization.

Today however, Bugatti announced it will take one step forward with the launch of a new bespoke customization program: "Sur Mesure". The name itself - "sur mesure" is the French word for tailored - describes what the program will be all about: offering even more customizable supercars.

With 1,479 horsepower under the hood, the Bugatti Chiron is far from being the most powerful supercar in the world. In fact, when compared to supercars like Lotus Evija (1,972 horsepower), Rimac Nevera (1,914 horsepower) or even the Hennessey Venom F5 (1,817 horsepower) you could say that the Chiron lost the battle. Still, it is on the top list of the most powerful, fastest supercars in the world. But, does it really deliver the amount of power claimed by Bugatti?

In a recent interview with MotorTrend, Mate Rimac gave us an idea about the future path of the renowned French automaker, Bugatti. According to Rimac, one thing is for certain: it will be distinct from what has been seen thus far.

Bugatti has announced a new extreme version of the Chiron. They did so at Quail, at this year’s prestigious Monterey Car Week. Dubbed the Bolide, it is a car with a name that is as cliché as its design. "But didn’t Bugatti take the wraps off of the Bolide last year?" Well, you’re right. However, the Bolide Super sports car you saw last October was just a concept, and Bugatti has now decided to put the Bolide into production.

Rimac is now a major shareholder in Bugatti, with 55 percent being owned by Rimac Automobili and 45 percent owned by Porsche. With this, new opportunities are being presented for both companies. Rimac will benefit from Bugatti’s expertise in building hypercars, while future Bugatti products will make good use of Rimac’s high-performance electric drivetrains. We already know that a V-8 hybrid version based on the Chiron is being planned, but what if Bugatti, under Rimac, come up with a new model, and what if it’s front-engined?

Historically, Bugatti’s biggest market has been Europe, which really isn’t surprising for a French automaker with a German parent company – Volkswagen AG. This year, however, things have changed, and – as it turns out – North Americans really, really like Bugatti these days. So much so, that North America is now the region leading sales for Bugatti.

We have been following this story (Bugatti-Rimac merger) for a while now at TopSpeed and the day has finally come. Porsche and Rimac , the Croatian EV performance automaker, have agreed to form a joint venture that will include Volkswagen’s high-performance marque; Bugatti .

CarWow is synonymous with holding some pretty spectacular drag races on its channel. But the race that they set up this weekend has to be one of the best ones ever. They just dropped a new video of a Formula 1 Red Bull racing car from 2011 take on one of today’s ultimate road cars, a Bugatti Chiron.

We can all agree that the Bugatti Chiron and all of its derivatives are engineering feats. The Chiron has been around for a while and has pretty much set the benchmark for the luxury hypercar. However, the even more insane Chiron SuperSport is now in its final stages of development and engineers are working to perfect the recipe. The Chiron’s incredible hardware, be it the suspension, chassis, engine, or aerodynamics, all work together to achieve maximum efficiency. In order for them to perfectly work together, engineers are enhancing the software suite of the mighty Chiron.

Recently, a new consortium offered close to $9.2 billion in order to buy Lamborghini off VAG. Theoffer was turned down and a new offer was made. That offer, too, was apparently turned down, but that doesn’t mean the German concern is not in the midst of deciding what to do with its assets. Bugatti has enjoyed a good run under VAG ownership and the French manufacturer continues to come up with limited editions based on the Chiron. With that being said, it appears not all is as good as it looks on the outside. Volkswagen Audi Group is currently debating on whether Bugatti should continue to be a part of the company’s portfolio or not and a certain Croatian manufacturer might take the opportunity.
