Lamborghini Car Crash Cars

The Lamborghini Huracan Performante is a Huracan dialed up to 11. It’s lighter, more powerful, and more nimble than the standard model but all the extra performance doesn’t blend well with an over-enthusiastic driver. This particular fellow wanted to show-off the launch control feature on his Huracan Performante but, instead, managed to prove how safe the Huracan is after crashing side-on into a tree and a wall.

Reporting on yet another crash involving a supercar may seem a bit daft especially since they seem to happen with an awkward regularity. Once every two or three weeks we hear about someone who overstepped it on the public roads and ends up with a bent exotic car. It barely ever happens during a track day, but you can decide if that means anything or not. This time, however, we’ve got another Huracan Performante that’s in the gutter after its owner banged it up pretty severely while attempting to leave a car meet in London as if he knew what he was doing. It’s safe to assume he didn’t quite know what he was doing.

It seems like accidents involving supercars tend to happen on a somewhat regular basis. Today, I’m here to talk about an accident involving a Lamborghini Huracan that met its untimely demise in the windy city over the weekend. Reports are still coming in from various sources, but as you can see from the image above, the Lambo not only split in half but caught on fire as well. Fortunately, witnesses on the scene were able to pull the drive from the wreckage just before it burst into flames.

For now, no official information has been released, but a report from NBC 5 out of Chicago says that witnesses claim a Lincoln MKS made contact with the Hurcane which ultimately sent it straight into the telephone pole that broke the car in half. The rear half continued in that direction until it struck a fence while the front half of the vehicle sat in the middle of the street. Reports indicate that the passenger cell that is built into the Huracan – much like that of other supercars like the McLaren 650S, for example – protected the driver like it was supposed to.

It’s an unfortunate happening for the driver of the Huracan – totaling a $240,000 car can ruin anyone’s week – but at least he walked away with his life. For now, Chicago police are still investigating the accident.

Normally, the dash-cam videos we see from Russia involve a healthy dose of road rage or an attempt at insurance fraud, which is apparently a big thing there. Today, however, we’re looking at a video from early June that involves a Lamborghini acting like, well, a Mustang. The video was originally scrutinized by various media outlets as being fake, but other footage and images from the accident have since gone public, and the accident you see in this video is very real.

The Lamborghini itself has a chrome finish, which is why the video has a fake-looking element to it. After reviewing the video, it seems as if the driver of the now-smashed Lambo was attempting to bob and weave through traffic in some pretty nasty weather. It is clearly raining, but if you turn up the volume, it sounds like it could have been hailing as well. That said, the Lambo didn’t stand a change going balls to the wall in those conditions. As it passed the car with the dash cam, it lost control, veered across the highway, and nails the center median.

It’s unclear as to whether or not the driver of the Lambo was hurt, but we know his ego is bruised and he’s out one pretty sweet car. Sucks to be him. The SUV that the Lambo initially hit looks like it didn’t even get a scratch as the Lambo swings around it – something that added fuel to the possibility of the video being fake – and it doesn’t seem that any other vehicles were involved in the accident. With that said, hit the play button and watch some overly confident driver make an expensive mistake.

It’s one thing to own or drive a vehicle like the Lamborghini Murcielago, and it’s another to push yourself and the car beyond the limit. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened recently when two men were transporting Russian MMA fighter Adam Yandiev’s Murcielago to a repair shop.

The driver, who was a Mechanic at a workshop in Moscow, was killed instantly. The passenger, who was found to be breathing but unconscious at the scene was transported to a hospital where, as of the time of this writing, he was alive but still in a coma. As you can see from the image, the car had to have been travelling at a high rate of speed at the time of impact, as the car was almost cut in half by the lamp pole.

We were able to find a video from the scene that was recorded from a GoPro camera on a motorcycle rider’s helmet. In the video description, the poster claims that an iron base column was bounced more than 90 feet away from the vehicle in the event of the collision. When the rider arrives at the scene, debris is seen pretty far away from the car itself.

Note: If you’re going to watch the video, be aware that it is quite graphic, as both passengers are still in the vehicle during the recording, and emergency personnel had yet to arrive. If you have a weak stomach or have children around, you might want to skip watching this one.

Well, it looks like yet another Lamborghini has met a fire-engulfed fate, but this time, it wasn’t at the hands of an idiotic owner that was trying to show off. The burned remains that you’re looking at here are those of a Lamborghini Huracán that was owned by David Mahler, the owner of H&O Investments in New Orleans.

See there is actually quite a story behind this torched Lambo. Recently, H&O Investments was named as the company that would remove a number of Confederate monuments around New Orleans. Shortly after Mahler was awarded the contract to remove the monument, death threats from those protesting the removal ensued. Mahler and his company pulled out of the job, but he still woke up yesterday morning to these sorry looking remains of his Huracán after being set ablaze.

Officials from the Baton Rouge Fire Department is currently conducting an investigation into the situation, with Mahler’s attorney suggesting that the circumstances around the torched Lambo are “extremely suspicious.” At this point, no word about the type of accelerant used or potential suspects has been reported. Until the local authorities come up with something, it looks like Mahler better start dealing with his insurance company.

Ok, so the video above is only telling the half the story. A quick trip to our Facebook page tells the full tale of how this seemingly innocent Lamborghini ended up in flames on a bridge in Dubai.

To spoil the plot line, an apparent car connoisseur spotted the Lamborghini Aventador SV and his

driving friend hot-rodding thought the crowded city streets and decided to capture the fun on his phone.

The trio of drivers come to a stop in the turning lane at a busy intersection, impeded by a traffic signal. The Ferrari and Lamborghini pass time by revving the snot out of their engines. As the Aventador SV’s 6.5-liter V-12 does on occasion, it started spitting flames from its center-mounted exhaust.

That’s when the naturally occurring Lambo pyrotechnics catch the rear bumper on fire. Yep, the 740-horsepower V-12 set itself ablaze. As the light turns green and despite the honking and hollering from the cameraman, the Lamborghini heads through the intersection – all the time fanning the flames.

It’s not long before the entire car is engulfed in fire. Though the video doesn’t exactly specify, it appears everyone involved escaped unharmed. Well, at least one man’s pride is severely bruised.

While it’s easy to make light of such a terrible situation, it goes to show how temperamental these high-strung hypercars can be. Let’s just hope he had insurance on this $400,000 bonfire.

Illegal supercar street racing is a relatively recent phenomenon in China, yet there are already a few known hotspots for the activity. One of these is the Datun Lu tunnel, near Bird’s Nest stadium in Beijing. This was the sight of what looks to have been a pretty violent crash involving a Ferrari 458 Spider and a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, although thankfully no one was seriously injured.

The tunnel is apparently used frequently for this sort of thing because it’s virtually deserted late at night, is well lit and is new enough that the pavement is nice and smooth. The participants were members of the local Sport Car Club (SCC), and friends of the two drivers were on the scene immediately to offer help. The whole thing started when the Ferrari hit the wall on its way into the tunnel and spun out. The Lamborghini was right behind and when it swerved to avoid the Ferrari, it hit the barrier instead. Police are working out who owns the cars, who was in them and whether or not they were actually speeding at the time, or if it just looks that way from the wreckage.

In a bid to further emphasize how downright idiotic and dangerous it is to speed on a public road, the Hungarian police recently released the on-board video taken from a Lamborghini Huracán that was pretty much disintegrated after it crashed and burned following a 200-plus-mph run in traffic. This is, in fact, the first recorded Huracán crash ever, so it should get double points for also being caught on film. The event actually happened in September 2014, but it is only now that the footage has emerged on YouTube.

As you can see from the footage taken before the horrific accident, the two passengers were quite literally having a blast while the Lambo went 330 km/h (205 mph) more than once during not exactly light traffic on Hungary’s M7 highway, during the daytime. At about the 1:25 mark into the video, the car seemingly hit a defect in the road, causing the driver to lose control of the car while the speedometer was showing 313 km/h (194 mph). The end of the video shows a few photos of the aftermath, with the Verde Mantis Lamborghini Huracán having been turned into aluminum and carbon fiber ashes after it also caught fire from the crash.

Surprisingly, both occupants got themselves out of the wreck before it was engulfed by flames, with the smartphone-wielding passenger suffering serious but not life-threatening injuries. Not many other details are known at this point, except the fact that the driver is facing charges of reckless driving and endangerment. Maybe next time he’ll learn and drive to the nearest track before endangering the life of others on the road.

The supercar world is pretty much on fire lately. Literally! From Porsche 911 GT3s roasting on the streets to a Ferrari LaFerrari smoking while attending a hillclimb event. We’ve also seen a Ferrari FF burst into flames in Hong Kong and a Lamborghini Aventador Roadster catching fire during a media demonstration in Australia earlier this year.

Speaking of the Aventador, another example of Lamborghini’s fast and expensive supercar went through its baptism of fire. This time it happened on the German Autobahn and under peculiar circumstances. Specifically, the unfortunate Aventador just had its engine replaced and it was out on its first test drive with the brand-new, 6.5-liter V-12 under its hood. For some reason, the powerplant overheated in a matter of minutes and caught fire, which quickly spread toward the cabin.

By the time the firefighters arrived at the scene, the entire rear end and cabin of the vehicle had burned to a crisp. The front end of the orange Aventador was all that was left of the $400,000 supercar, now just a pile of melted metal with a "total loss" label on top. Fortunately, both the driver and passenger managed to get away from the burning car unscathed.

Details as to what caused the blaze are scarce, but it appears the replacement engine fitted in the Aventador had a faulty cooling system. Needless to say, that’s an issue you don’t want in any vehicle, but especially in an expensive supercar with a bull logo on its nose.

It turns out a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder makes a pretty good bulldozer, as this closed-circuit video shows. A valet for the five-star Le Meridien hotel in Delhi, India allegedly lost control of the supercar as he waited for traffic to clear. It’s reported that damages exceed $335,000, including the Gallardo, the hotel, and the second car involved in the incident.

The video shows in good detail how the V-10-powered car gained momentum as it pushed a sedan out of its way before being stopped by a thick concrete wall. Thankfully, no one was injured other than the valet, who had reportedly worked for the hotel for 10 years. In fact, it’s likely the valet had driven the Lambo before, as its owner says the hotel staff had parked his car many times before without issue.

Unfortunately for the owner, the hotel is refusing to pay for the damages. Taking things into his own hands, the owner, who is said to be a businessman from Mumbai, filed a police report against the hotel and valet. What’s worse, high import taxes spike the Gallardo Spyder’s retail price far beyond what others around the world pay for the same car, hence the extravagant estimated cost of damages.

There is still no official word on what caused the valet to lose control of the Lamborghini, but perhaps he inadvertently dumped the clutch, got thrown back in the seat, and hit the gas. Either way, it’s a good possibility he’ll be looking for another job.

Like most Italian supercars, the Lamborghini Aventador is no stranger to fires, with one example burning to a crisp somewhere in California a couple of years ago. More recently though, a roadster version caught fire in Australia, this time during a media demonstration on the Philip Island race track.

Shipped from Italy to Australia for prospective customers and automotive journalists to get a taste of its capabilities, the brand-new Aventador Roadster caught fire before the end of its first track day.

According to a report coming from Drive, the vehicle was being driven by a Top Gear Australia editor when flames started to come out from behind the cabin. The drive pulled over immediately, as instructed by the Lamborghini staff at the track, to allow for the fire to be extinguished.

Obviously unhappy with the embarrassing incident, Lamborghini asked those attending the Philip Island event not to write about it, the reports notes, adding that "at least one media outlet was forced to delete video footage and image of the Aventador burning."

There’s no official word as to what may have caused the flames to erupt, but people attending the event have told Drive that the supercar caught fire due to an oil leak on the exhaust. Lamborghini has commenced an investigation, but stressed that the incident wasn’t provoked by any issue in the design or construction of the Aventador.
