Lamborghini Announces its First-Ever North American Performance Driving School

Lamborghini Announces its First-Ever North American Performance Driving School

Ever wish you could flog a brand-new Lamborghini Huracán around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca under the direction of Lamborghini’s own Squadra Corse professional driving team? Sure you have. Well, now Lamborghini is offering the first-ever chance this coming September. This marks Lamborghini Accademia’s first time offering the program inside the U.S., and it comes at a perfect time too. The Accademia is bringing a fleet of brand-new Huracáns to the event, which runs from September 14 through 17. Students will start out with the essentials such as braking, accelerating, slalom, drifting, and section training.

Leading the one-day course are the team members of Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse, part of Lambo’s in-house research and development department dedicated to motorsports. The department’s focus includes GT3, the Super Trofeo series, and customer driving courses such as this one.

Once students learn the fundamentals of handling a 602-horsepower car, they get to run the entire Leguna Seca track with one-on-one guidance and video coaching. When the course is completed, each driver is awarded a swanky certificate of completion from Lamborghini. Also included are some fine dining opportunities during the day’s events.

Thankfully, you don’t have to be a current Lamborghini owner to participate. In this case, money talks well enough. The one-day driving school costs $4,995 for a single driver. Your significant other can tag along and enjoy the food and festivities for an extra $795. Other packages are available for those looking to book a hotel through Lamborghini.

While the price tag might seem steep, think of it as cheap insurance for both your car and your life. There is no substitute for good driving.

2006 Lamborghini Murcielago by Al & Ed's Autosound and Lamborghini Club America

2006 Lamborghini Murcielago by Al & Ed’s Autosound and Lamborghini Club America

The Italian Stampede sounds as if it is a horrific running of wild bulls that includes lots of carnage and body parts. Well, in reality, it is a wonderful collection of various Italian supercars “racing” from Los Angeles to Monterey, California. Why Monterey? Well, that just so happens to be where the Concorso Italiano is being held.

This year, there is a special entrant leading the pack and that is a 2006 Lamborghini Murcielago wrapped in matte pink from front to rear and top to bottom. So why in the world is this Lamborghini all in pink? Well, the Lamborghini Club America is holding a Gala on Saturday to help support breast cancer awareness and this car is to help draw attention to both the Gala and the seriousness of breast cancer awareness.

We spoke with Andrew Romanowski, the President of the Lamborghini Club America and owner of this wrapped Lambo, and he let us know that it was not only the Lamborghini Club America involved in this great benefit, but Al & Ed’s Autosound and Protective Film Solutions also had a large hand in making this car a possibility.

While we had him on the phone, Andrew let us in on a little more info about the car. It is a 2006 model with an aftermarket exhaust system. We didn’t get into power numbers, as he was at the Concorso Italiano and we didn’t want to keep him from the droves of folks asking about this fantastic car and cause, but we assume this system would add about 10 to 15 extra ponies to its already stout 6.2-liter V-12 engine that pumps out 580 horsepower at 7,500 rpm and 479 pound-feet of torque at 5,400 rpm.

Hats off to the folks at Lamborghini Club America, Al & Ed’s, and Protective Film Solutions for creating such an awesome car and supporting a great cause. You can see a video of the wrap being put on after the jump.

Missy Elliott suing Illinois dealership for holding her Lamborghini Aventador hostage

Missy Elliott suing Illinois dealership for holding her Lamborghini Aventador hostage

Rapper extraordinaire Missy Elliot has had her eye on a Lamborghini Aventador for quite some time and last year, she made the leap and purchased a matte white version of the Italian supercar at an Illinois car dealership.

The problem is, it’s been at least six months and Missy Elliot has yet to get her hands on the Aventador. So she did what anybody would do in her position: she filed a lawsuit against Fox Valley Motor Cars.

According to the lawsuit that was first reported by TMZ, Missy Elliot made a down payment of $30,000 in cash, as well as ponied up her 2005 Bentley that was valued at $85,000. As part of the agreement, the dealership would then ship her $376,000 Aventador at this point of the year. The dealership is now not holding up their end of the bargain because the car’s market value has increased and thus, would cost more than the rapper initially thought.

Missy Elliot’s calling foul and has now turned to the legal system to get her Aventador. On top of that, she’s suing the dealership for breach of contract, a move that shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who believes they got shafted by somebody after an agreement was already in place.

For somebody who earns as much money as Missy Elliott, you would think that something like this would be settled before it got leaked to the press. But hey, sometimes you have to stand your ground, especially if somebody’s trying to pull a fast one on you, and let them work out their own problems. Not good publicity, Fox. Not good at all.

2012 Lamborghini Aventador "Project AU79"

2012 Lamborghini Aventador "Project AU79"

Some people, thanks to their deep pockets, just can’t help but put new meaning to the word ’excessive’. Take the owner of this Lamborghini Aventador for example.

Sure, he already has one of the most opulent supercars on the planet, but he decided to give it an added shine, and he took it pretty literally, too. You see, this isn’t just any Aventador; this is an Aventador that has been foil-wrapped in gold chrome.

The name of the gold chrome Aventador is "Project AU79" and while we’re not too sure what the ’79’ stands for, we do know that "AU" - or Au - is the symbol of gold in the periodic table of elements.

YouTube member Vodeezz was on hand for the official unveiling of the Aventador Project AU79 so we’re tipping our hats off to him for catching this true one-of-a-kind 700-horsepower Aventador get its proverbial shine on.

2012 Lamborghini Aventador by Underground Racing

2012 Lamborghini Aventador by Underground Racing

The mighty Lamborghini Aventador comes with no shortage of power, but that doesn’t mean that it’s still not worthy to be treated to a little more juice.

That’s where noted Lamborghini tuner, Underground Racing, comes into the picture. The Charlotte-based tuning firm has made a living modding one Lamborghini super car after another so when they were given a chance to send the Aventador to the dyno, they wasted little time giving it enough added juice to compete with the Bugatti Veyron.

For their first tuning offering for the Aventador, Underground Racing rebuilt the Italian super car’s 6.5-liter V12 engine and strengthened the gearbox unit, and doing so while keeping the supercar’s all-wheel drive system. All told, they were able to almost double the Aventador’s output to 1,200 horsepower, a staggering improvement from it’s already insane 700-horsepower standard output.

No official times have been announced, but according to Underground Racing, their newly-modded, 1,200-horsepower Aventador is capable of hitting 0-60 mph in just 2.2 seconds, three-tenths of a second faster than what the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport can accomplish.

But the truly important piece of news here that some folks might overlook is that this is one of the first modded Aventadors to pass through Underground Racing’s tuning wizardry. Knowing these guys, we can expect something even more powerful down the road.

Stunning Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante destroyed in crash

Stunning Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante destroyed in crash

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante is unquestionably the ultimate expression of what a convertible supercar can be. Despite it being almost exactly the same as its coupe sibling, Lamborghini did implement a number of unique features on the Spyder variant, but unfortunately a crash in Houston means that there is one less of these incredible cars roaming American streets.

As you can see from the following pictures, the crash was quite serious and took place at around 9pm on Westheimer Road, in Houston, but fortunately, no occupants were killed in the accident although the female passenger had to be cut out of the wreckage by the Houston Police Department. She complained of neck pain, but was able to move her arms and legs, as well as hold a conversation.

It’s not yet known exactly what caused the crash as the investigation has not yet began in earnest, but an eye witness did report seeing the car traveling at high speeds through the city streets before flipping for a reason also not known. Turns out, the female driver of the Performante was racing another Lamborghini, also being driven by a female.

This latest crash marks yet another exotic meeting its fate this week, after an extremely-rare One-77 was involved in an incident just a couple of days ago.

2012 Lamborghini Murcielago "Rapid Response Unit" by Martino Auto Concepts

2012 Lamborghini Murcielago "Rapid Response Unit" by Martino Auto Concepts

If for some reason you see a Lamborghini Murcielago look the part of a fire department vehicle complete with emergency lights on its roof, don’t confuse it for a novelty car; it was actually built to be. At least according to the dudes that made it, the "world’s only Lamborghini Rapid Response Unit."

Yep. You just the words ’Lamborghini’ and ’Rapid Response Unit’ in the same quotation marks. This Murcielago was built by Martino Auto Concepts from Glen Cove, New York as a way to pay homage to the Glen Cove Fire Department for their 175th year of service to the community.

The Murcielago comes dressed to look like a service vehicle, complete with GFCD badging - that’s the Glen Cove Fire Department - and a plethora of fire department-relative livery. Even better, it also has a set of emergency lights on its roof, adding more flavor to what we obviously think is already a fantastic Italian supercar.

Power modifications were left out, but the Murcielago still carries a piece of work for an engine. Under its hood, you’re going to find a 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces upwards of 600 horsepower.

Video: Lamborghini Batman's police escapade caught on tape

Video: Lamborghini Batman’s police escapade caught on tape

About a week ago, we showed you photos of Batman getting pulled over by the Montgomery County police in Maryland for not having the proper tags on his Lamborghini.

It turns out, Batman’s real name isn’t Bruce Wayne, but Lenny Robinson, and he wasn’t on his way back to the Bat Cave as some people expected. Rather, he makes courtesy visits at DC-area hospitals to spend some quality time with sick children.

This video, which was captured by the Montgomery police, pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the man. He was very polite, he was very cooperative to the cops, and he even took some time to shake hands with the police, as well as pose for some photos.

Nothing like a cool story to get you up and running in the day. We certainly appreciate Batman for his warm-hearted intentions of brightening up some sick child’s day, although it would probably be a good idea to just put the car’s real tags on the car to avoid another incident like this from happening.

Batman's Lamborghini gets pulled over by Maryland authorities

Batman’s Lamborghini gets pulled over by Maryland authorities

Apparently, even a crime fighter like Batman isn’t above the law, especially when it comes to having no tags on his Batmobile...err...Lamborghini.

As it turns out, Batman was cruising around in Maryland when he was pulled over by the Montgomery County Police Department because the car didn’t have any plates on it. While we understand the Caped Crusader doesn’t want people checking on his DMV records, it might still have been a good idea to abide by the law. Otherwise, you’re pretty much attracting police cars to your Lamborghini the same way you do to the Bat signal.

The photo comes courtesy of the Montgomery Country Police Department’s Twitter page and to their credit, they seemed to get a kick out of Batman’s folly more than anything else.

Let’s hope that the Dark Knight learns his lesson the next time he goes out in full garb and hammer. After all, he wouldn’t want more bad press now that his newest movie is coming out in a few months, right?

Fake it ’til you make it! Lamborghini Aventador available for rent in Beverly Hills

Some people say that people should dress for the job they want, not the job they have. AutoMotorPlex makes a 14-year-old girl's supercar wish come true...repeatedly

AutoMotorPlex makes a 14-year-old girl’s supercar wish come true...repeatedly

There are two things you need to know about 14-year old Maddy Wagner: she loves supercars and she has autism.

The former may sound trivial compared to the latter, but Maddy doesn’t think of herself any less even with her condition. She has her dad to thank for that. Her father said that it was important for “Maddy not be defined by her autism. I’ve taught both my kids that they can accomplish whatever they believe they can accomplish. Yes, she’s autistic, but in every other way, she’s just like every other teenage girl. I hope people don’t see her as being autistic but rather as being a beautiful young lady who can accomplish anything she sets her mind to.”

And what Maddy set her mind to was a fascination for exotics and one of her holiday wishes was to get a chance to ride in one.

Last week, her wish became a reality, except that instead of riding in one supercar, Maddy was able to sit shotgun in 13 of them. From Bentleys, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and even a Caterham, Maddy’s holiday wish came true with the help of some selfless supercar owners.

Full story after the jump.

2010 Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV "Setaro" by PUR Wheels

2010 Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV "Setaro" by PUR Wheels

While its become obvious that Lamborghini has become more aggressive in promoting the new Aventador supercar as their flagship model, a lot of people still haven’t forgotten about the supercar the Aventador replaced.

For a lot of us, the Lamborghini Murcielago is still a sentimental favorite. PUR Wheels, a US-based wheels specialist, is one of those that still hold the Murcielago in high regard, particularly the special edition Murcielago LP670-4 Super Veloce.

The American tuning company specializes in building custom wheels for some of the world’s most famous exotic cars and for the Murcielago LP670-4 SV, PUR Wheels made sure to dress up the supercar with only the best set of wheels in the market. In this particular case, the custom wheels offer a perfect contrast to the chameleon-like Green and Pink Pearlescent exterior finish, which may seem like an odd color combination for a car of this stature, but has turned this supercar into a true piece of Italian beauty.

As far as the powertrain is concerned, the Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 is powered by an upstanding 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces a mouth-watering 670 horsepower. It also boasts of a 0-60 mph sprint time of just 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 212 mph.

If a car is capable of performance figures like that and look sexy as hell while doing it, then it doesn’t matter whether the model is gone or not.

Mike "The Situation" Sorentino's Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder with "GTL" personalized plate

Mike "The Situation" Sorentino’s Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder with "GTL" personalized plate

Mike Sorentino, better known in mainstream America as "The Situation," shot to fame with his role in the hit reality show Jersey Shore, so with a fattened bank account, Sorentino decided to buy himself a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. That’s a very nice car, no doubt about that, but what really caught our attention wasn’t so much the supercar itself but the personalized plate the supercar had.

The plate read three letters that pretty much describes Sorentino’s mantra: GTL.

If you’re not familiar with what that means, GTL is an acronym for "Gym, Tan, Laundry", which pretty much tells you where this man’s priorities lie.

We’re not sure what that message will read to today’s youth, but Sorentino has every right to put whatever he wants on his car. Lord knows, he earned it - for better or worse - and if he wants to display his mantra for all the world to see, then he’s entitled to that.

But knowing the kind of reputation he has, the ’GTL’ plate on a Gallardo Spyder just looks, for lack of a better term, out of whack. Kind of like The Situation himself.
