Performance luxury sedans are the perfect middle ground for those seeking comfort, practicality and performance in a single package. And while we have gotten plenty of great examples like the BMW M5, Mercedes AMG GT63, Porsche Panamera, and others, there are those that came to us as concepts, but never delivered in the real world. Here are the most prominent culprits.

The Mercedes EQ line of EVs isn’t very old, but the automaker is adding products to the lineup at a superficial rate. At the 2021 IAA Mobility Show, the automaker revealed a total of five EQ products, namely – the AMG EQS performance sedan, the EQE family sedan, the EQB crossover, EQG Concept off-roader, and the Maybach EQS SUV.

As if these weren’t enough, our spy photographers have now spotted the EQE SUV testing in the wild. It will slot in between the EQB crossover and the EQS SUV.

The Nissan Patrol, which is sold as the Armada in the United States, has already been on the global market for 70 years. The first model rolled off the Japanese assembly line in 1951, and it was originally based on the Willys Jeep.

The 2022 Mercedes GLE has been spotted a number of times in the past, and this time, we found it playing in the Scandinavian snow. Oddly enough, it was sporting more camo than before. Very little will change as part of this facelift, but the current model has only been on the market for a few years (since 2019, to be exact), so this is more about freshening up an already decent package.

What will change, however, are in the subtle areas of the GLE. Expect revised headlights and taillights, a new grille, and probably different mesh behind the corner vents. The decoy grille on this model represents what you’ll probably see on the higher trim levels, although, the production version will feature a considerable amount of chrome. The hood, body sheel, and rear hatch should remain largely the same.

The interior of the 2022 GLE will see an updated version of the MBUX infotainment system, a new steering wheel, and perhaps a slight change in trim design and offering. The powertrain will also remain largely untouched, but there could be some minor tweaks to increase either power, efficiency or – in a perfect world – both. This means a choice of the 2.0-liter inline-four in the GLE 350 or the 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ boost in the GLE 450. The former will deliver at least 255 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque while the latter comes with 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. 0-60 mph happens in between 5.5 and 7.0 seconds.

Expect the updated GLE to debut sometime in the first few months of 2022, with sales to commence right away as a 2022 model.

Because of the oil crisis and stringent emissions regulations, the mid to late-1970s did not spawn many great American cars. The once-powerful American V-8 engines were choked out of their power and became shadows of their former selves. And while American cars from that era are not particularly desired, nor a preferred platform for any form of restoration, this Jaguar XJ-C by Polish tuner Carlex Design is a vision of what can be considered an epic British muscle car/resto-mod from the mid-1970s.

In recent years Mazda has been making a strong case for itself. With good styling, solid interiors, and fun driving dynamics, the brand from Hiroshima tries to give potential buyers plenty of reason to choose them. The CX-9, Mazda’s largest SUV, has just received new pricing, packages, and a new trim level for the 2022 model year.

The folks at ‘The Fast Lane Truck’ conducted a drag race with not two, but five different pickup trucks. They had trucks across segments, starting from the Ford Maverick and the Hyundai Santa Cruz, to the Nissan Frontier, the Toyota Tundra, and the Ford F-150 Raptor. This wasn’t a conventional race wherein you just had all five trucks go at it together. It was more of a gauntlet match wherein the winner of a race faced a new truck in the next round and the loser got eliminated. Sounds a little like Squid Game, doesn’t it?

While Tesla continues to lead the electric vehicle (EV) sales race, Ford is aiming to become the second-largest EV manufacturer within the next two years. This is thanks to the huge interest that was generated by the F-150 Lightning, which will reach customers by Spring 2022, ahead of Tesla’s Cybertruck.

Following a fresh batch of Q6 E-Tron spy shots and the first spy shots of the Q8 E-Tron’s facelift, we now have a new set of the facelifted E-Tron doing some winter testing. Much like the last prototype we spotted, this one is wearing. A similar bottom-only camouflage, indicating changes to the front end, side skirts, and lower rear end.

As was the case with the last prototype, the front grille on this prototype features a honeycomb mesh, so we can say with little doubt that this is a production feature. It will be a very nice change from the vertical and horizontal slats of the pre-facelift model. We can’t say much else about it due to the extensive coverage, but it looks as if we will see further changes to the front fascia, and there’s a good chance there will be some minor changes to the front genders as well. The rear lights are still concealed, so you can expect some more change there, too. Cars ranging from the Bentley Continental to the Nissan Sentra have been receiving the typical treatment of blacking out all the trim pieces to help add that little extra flair of sinisterness.

“BMW” is hard at work at developing their i7 full-size electric luxury sedan. While we’ve already seen numerous spy shots of the vehicle being tested, BMW still thought it will be interesting for us to see official photos of its camouflaged prototypes playing around the snow.

The Genesis G90 first went on sale in the United States for the 2017 model year, which means that the flagship luxury sedan is nearly five years old. As such, an all-new model is definitely in order, and Genesis gives us a glimpse of the G90’s successor.

It seems that the folks at Jeep (Stellantis) can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to recalls. Just a month ago, the company announced a recall for the Grand Cherokee L due to an issue with its high beams, affecting a little over 7,000 units. This time around, the scale of the recall is much larger, and it involves nearly 100,000 vehicles.

A new report is claiming that Porsche is looking to expand its SUV lineup even further with a model that slots above the Cayenne as a flagship crossover of sorts. The model, which is currently without a name, was shown off in a rendering to various dealers, but it is expected to launch in the second half of this decade. Does Porsche need a three-row crossover? Well, there’s some interesting information coming together on this one.
