The 2020 Volkswagen Touareg R is a high-performance version of the familiar midsize SUV. Unveiled in February 2020, ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, the 2020 Touareg R is the first of its kind to boast an "R" badge. It’s also the first R model with a plug-in hybrid drivetrain and the first range-topping variant of any Volkswagen nameplate to feature electrification.

The 2020 Touareg R also makes the Touareg the third VW nameplate to offer a hybrid model after the Golf and the Passat. Because Volkswagen no longer offers the Touareg in the United States, where it has been replaced by the Atlas, the Touareg R won’t cross the pond to North America. Volkswagen took the time to reveal the new Volkswagen Golf GTI, GTD, and GTE before their official debut at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show. Surely, customers have no reason to complain should they want to get a more performance-focused Golf, because VW is offering a hybrid, a gasoline, and a diesel model as alternatives to various preferences or needs.

The Volkswagen I.D. Buggy is a concept car that draws inspiration from the iconic dune buggies of the 1960s. A fully electric vehicle built on Volkswagen’s new MEB modular platform, the I.D. Buggy is part of the company’s I.D. series of vehicles that includes six concept cars as of 2019. Unlike some of its siblings though, the I.D. Buggy won’t make it into production.

Having used the I.D. series to develop a modern successor to the iconic VW Bus, the German firm also created a modern interpretation of the classic dune buggy. The latter became known in the 1960s, when some privateers from California, most notably Bruce Meyers, converted rear-engined Volkswagen Beetles into roofless and doorless recreational vehicles for use on sand dunes and beaches. The I.D. Buggy pays tribute to its spiritual predecessor in both design and functionality, but it adds an electric drivetrain into the mix.

Despite being the world’s largest automobile manufacturing company, Volkswagen has left the truck segment untapped. Although the European markets will benefit from the Volkswagen-Ford alliance and receive

based Amarok pickup trucks, the same has not been announced for the U.S. markets. However, we have learned that Volkswagen is keen on entering one of the hottest growing segments in the U.S. So, will the company go solo here, or will it choose to ally with Ford and base its trucks on the Blue Oval’s offerings?

Gone are the days when performance cars used to be a different segment altogether. Even hatches and pseudo-SUVs these days offer enough horses to stop you dead in your tracks. The latest addition to the list is Volkswagen’s baby SUV. The German automaker has injected the T-Roc with steroids and named it T-Roc R. The T-Roc R was launched at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, and it comes riding on 296 horses!

The term beach buggy may be somewhat generic, yet it actually refers to

based buggies that exploded in popularity in the 1960s. Now VW wants to revive that sun-loving spirit with its new two-seater ID Buggy Concept that was just revealed at the 2019 Geneva motor show.

Less than a month after the company launched the facelifted version, Volkswagen is all set to launch the sporty variant of the Passat Estate at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The Passat Variant R-Line Edition comes with a lot of new goodies and will certainly induce the younger folks’ interest. The company has announced that the R-Line edition will be limited to just 2,000 units!

In an unprecedented invasion of performance SUVs, the Volkswagen Group introduced yet another performance crossover - the Volkswagen T-Roc R. It is basically a buffed up version of the highly sought after subcompact crossover T-Roc. Digging a bit deeper one can find a whole lot of the Golf R under its subtle body. And, that is a good thing. As for now, the Volkswagen T-Roc R is a near-production concept car. Yet, as is the case with the Cupra Formentor Concept, I believe it will be greenlighted for production in a few months following the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show.

The T-Roc R joins a quite astounding lineup of performance crossovers that include the Cupra Ateca, the Cupra Formentor Concept, the Skoda Kodiaq RS, the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line with 240 horsepower engine, the Audi RSQ3, and the Audi SQ5 TDI.

Obviously, I included here almost all performance SUVs regardless of the power output. They do target similar customers. Do you really think someone in love with the Formentor does not dream bigger - like about the SQ5? Of course they do.

Obviously, Volkswagen is big on giving the drivers what they really want, and although it came to the SUV/Crossover party a bit late with the T-Roc, it definitely moved in the right direction with the hot one.

Volkswagen has updated the current Euro market Passat and as with all new products from the German giant, you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference. But it is certainly different if you look at details like the Arteon-infused styling refresh as well as the long list of new tech features added along with the facelift.

Fifty years after the Beach Buggy took the U.S. by storm, Volkswagen is reaching back into its retro vault to introduce a new buggy concept at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The new concept will sit on VW’s Modular Electric Drive Matrix (MEB) platform and will carry the identity of an all-electric dune hopper. Specific details are still scant at the moment, but if anything, the new concept is the perfect shot in the arm for those who have been waiting for a new buggy to come out of Volkswagen in the last five decades. The yet-to-be-named concept — for now, Klaus Bischoff, Head Designer at Volkswagen, calls it the “e-buggy” — will make its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show this coming March.

The "Dieselgate" scandal of 2015 gave Volkswagen an awfully big headache, but it also prompted the German to take electrification a bit more seriously. In recent years, Volkswagen unleashed a series of EVs wearing the "I.D." badge that preview upcoming production models. The fourth vehicle in this series is called the I.D. Vizzion and showcased Volkswagen’s vision of a spacious, fully electric, and autonomous four-door sedan at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.

The German automaker’s lineup of I.D. concept models offers a glimpse at what Volkswagen has planned for the future. Three previous I.D. models have made their way across international stages, but this, the I.D. Vizzion Concept, is the first one designed to be fully autonomous. It doesn’t even have the option for human input. Yep, there is no steering wheel, pedals, or shifter – it’s all handled by the computer. Volkswagen calls this computer the “digital chauffeur.”

Simply plug in your destination, and the car takes care of the rest while passengers sit back and use their new free time for other tasks. The I.D. Vizzion is part of the company’s aggressive electric vehicle campaign, which includes 20 all-new EVs by 2025, so a production model is due to follow at some point. VW is gearing up to launch a bevy of new electric vehicles over the course of the next 10 years or so, and it’s bringing out a host of technology-stuffed concepts to preview all the good things to come. Dubbed the I.D. range, the German automaker has already introduced the eponymous five-door hatchback I.D., the I.D. Crozz SUV, and the I.D. Buzz van. The latest is a premium sedan that was just revealed at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show called the I.D. Vizzion, and it brings a glimpse of things to come by the year 2030, including enough technology to turn the four-door into a “mobile smart home of a new era.”
