The first automobile was invented in 1886 and since then many great cars have emerged. But even nearly 140 years after the automobile’s invention, there are very few cars that have a cult following as zealous as that of the Porsche 911. This is especially true for the air-cooled models, which are all-time classics. If we combine the significance of an air-cooled 911 with the cocaine-snorting excess of the 1970s, we can see how a one-off 1979, guards red, modified Porsche 911 Turbo can be listed for $599,000 by a Florida dealership.

Porshe has been obsessed with innovation, or needlessly reinventing the wheel, depending on how you look at it for decades. From stubbornly making the engine work in the back of the car to making an electric sedan that weighs well over two tons handle like a dream. As a result of this meticulousness, Porsche produces some of the greatest sports cars in the world. Building off this, the German sports car manufacturer is back at it again with their 3D-printed bucket seats.

When you think of Porsche, most often you think of the Porsche 911. Saying that the rear-engine sports car is the brand’s most definitive model has turned into a trite cliché. A while back, we covered Frank Stephenson’s guide to Aston Martin’s three greatest designs. Now, as part of his YouTube series, he is giving us his take on the three greatest designs from Porsche.

When Porsche revealed the electric Mission R Concept, it was billed as a preview of a one-maker racer, but it also previewed – to a small extent – what we can expect from the upcoming electric Porsche 718. In fact, the Mission R Concept was based on a highly modified version of the current 718’s chassis and even featured similar dimensions to the current road-going sports cars. And it’s because of this car that the next-gen electric 718 Cayman and Boxster will set the standard for how a modern sports car can transition into electrification without losing what matters the most – its driving dynamic.

Manufacturers are hard at work, transitioning to fully electric vehicles, and Porsche has already come up with a strategy that would allow for the gradual electrification of its existing lineup. Last year, Porsche gave us the Taycan – its first fully electric production vehicle. It was a good exercise, which showed that there was indeed interest in a high-performance EV from Porsche. With this in mind, the German carmaker is already implementing its strategy to electrify its whole existing lineup by 2024.

We’ve come a long way from the original idea that the 2021 Porsche Macan would only be offered with an all-electric powertrain. That was the story in 2019, which quickly turned into word that the next-gen Macan would be all-electric but would be sold alongside the current Macan– something we called “Porsche’s dual-Macan strategy.” Now, it seems there’s even more to the story, and you might not like what you’re about to read.

The folks at Carwow brought in the 991 Porsche 911 GT3 RS to take on the new 992 911 GT3 on a drag strip. The cars are eerily similar to each other, as they share the same engine, gearbox, drive layout, exhaust, and even weigh almost the same. And at the onset, it looks like it will be a mighty close finish. But, which car would claim the bragging rights and go down in the history books as a better straight-line performer?

The Porsche Macan has been on the market since 2014. Following a revamp in 2018, Porsche has reworked the Macan once again to make it ready for life alongside an all-new electric model that will shortly join it. With its second facelift, the combustion engine model is buying more time. The upcoming Electric Macan will be the first vehicle to be constructed on the Audi and Porsche PPE (premium electric platform).

The team at Carwow brought three fast cars to the drag strip. The contenders include the Ferrari 488 Pista Piloti, the Lamborghini Aventador SV, and a Porsche 911 Turbo S. The Pista Piloti and Aventador SV make more power than the Porsche in the standard form, but the latter is tuned to make 150 horses more for a Hulk-like transformation. Courtesy of this, it absolutely annihilates both the 700+ horsepower cars in a series of drag races! How often do you see a Ferrari and a Lamborghini get treated with such utter disdain?

It was in the month of May 2021 that news broke of Audi’s intentions to sell and electric A4 along what will undoubtedly be the last ICE-powered generation of the a4\s4 lineup. We quickly jumped on the idea that the RS4 E-Tron, as we’re calling it, could eventually become the A4 E-tron Wagon. What we never stopped to think of, though, is that the A4 E-Tron could be a bigger deal than we expected, and a Porsche badge could be involved….

We already know that the Porsche 911 will most likely be the last of the brand’s cars to transition into an electric vehicle, and rightfully so, I might add. However, as of today, there aren’t any real electric sports cars on the market. I suppose you could argue that the new Tesla Roadster is a sports car, but for the sake of argument Tesla kind of stands on its own and who knows when the Roadster will really make production. Then you’ve got cars like the Audi E-Tron GT and its sister the Porsche Taycan, and while they are sporty and quick, it doesn’t exactly fit the sports car segment like a Porsche 718, Audi TT, or even the BMW Z4 and Toyota Supra twins. Oddly enough, there’s little official chatter of any cars in this segment going electric. Well, until now that is.

Things escalated quickly between 2019 and 2020 over at Porsche, with the former bring news that the 2021 Porsche Macan will only be offered with an all-electric drivetrain. Of course, 2021 is here, and guess what? The electric Macan doesn’t even exist outside of Porsche’s walls. That’s because in early 2020, we learned that Porsche was thinking about a “double Macan” strategy in which it will update the current-gen Macan to sell alongside the next-gen electric Macan. It’s good news for those that don’t want to make the transition to electric go juice, but it also means the next-gen Macan had to be delayed. Now we’ve learned something new, and it seems that the Macan EV might not be a Macan at all. Wait… what?

With the new Porsche 911 GT3 out of the bag and the online configurator alive and kicking, Porsche is gearing up for customer orders. It will take some time before we know how many new GT3s Porsche managed to push or whether they were configured with a manual or the PDK dual-clutch gearbox.

However, if we look back at how many customers ordered their previous-gen 911 GT3 with a manual, it’s expected that the manual option on the 992 GTE will get the same attention.

Porsche cars are known for being some of the most reliable high-performance machines ever built. That wasn’t always the case, however, as some models, especially in their earlier versions, were anything but reliable, especially if some of the known (by some) problems are left unattended. And although it can be a nightmare to work on a broken engine, it can be surprisingly relaxing to watch someone else dismantling one and then putting it back together.

California-based Singer is known for doing impressive restoration work to classic Porsche 911s, but what it’s revealed today essentially takes the company to an all-new level. The 964-gen 911 you see here isn’t a 911 Safari, not by any means. It’s actually what Singer calls “The ACS.” If you’re not familiar with the name, ACS stands for All-Terrain Competition Study, and as you can see, Singer has turned this 911 into an ultimate off-road rally weapon.

If you’ve been following us, you know that the upcoming Porsche 911 GT3 is no longer a mystery. We spotted the track-prepped 911 on public roads numerous times and recent sightings include an almost camo-free car. We’ve also seen leaked photos with the GT3’s interior, so we’re basically waiting for Porsche to spill the beans and tell us more about what’s under the rear hood. But the Germans are still fine tuning the 911 GT3, which we spotted once again, this time around alongside the cool Cayman GT4 RS.

A few years ago there were rumors that Porsche was working on a hybrid version of the Macan. With the first-gen crossover near the end of its life-cycle, it seems that the Germans are switching to an all-electric layout. The next-gen Macan was spotted testing on public roads, and even though it doesn’t look radically different, it has nothing in common with the old model under the skin.

The 356. That’s the car that started the long-lasting Porsche sportscar saga in Gmünd, Austria, under the close supervision of Ferry Porsche and Karl Rabe. Later on, production of the 356 was eventually moved to Stuttgart, but all in all, the lightweight sportscar was assembled between 1948 and 1965 in five variants: 356/2, 356, 356A, 356B, and 356C.

The car you’re about to meet can be found in Australia, where it has been enchanting its owners since 1965. It’s a 1964 Porsche 356 painted in Signal Red, rocking a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder (air-cooled, of course) boxer engine.

The first-generation Porsche Macan was launched in 2014, which means that it’s six years old as of 2020. Given that modern car life cycles take five to six years, it’s about time for a redesign. But it seems Porsche wants to keep the current Macan on the market a while longer. At least that’s what a set of new spy shots we just received suggest.

Because the Porsche 911 is a very popular car, the market is now packed with tuners that modify the German sports car. Among them, there are a few shops that do older 911s. Gunther Werks is one of them, and its reinterpretation of the 993-generation 911 is impressive, to say the least. And it’s not just a beefed-up 911, but a full-fledged race car that’s road legal.

Taking care of the models in your lineup, upgrading them on a yearly basis or simply applying a nip and tuck every now and then is pretty much like nurturing children.

For the 2021MY, Porsche is making sure the 718 Boxster and Cayman brothers are in top shape to perform in the market but most importantly, on the road, too.

The 968 was the last great sports car from Porsche’s transaxle era, which started with the 924 and continued with the likes of 944 and 928.

Porsche finally exited this transaxle phase in 1995, with some 400,000 such models built, so a nod back to those times always makes sense - and you don’t have to be a Porschephile to acknowledge it. Thanks to Doug DeMuro, the 968 Club Sport gets the attention it deserves.
