  • Floating Motors that hails from Italy have come up with a truly unique idea of transforming some truly iconic shapes from the automotive world into boats
  • This is a new venture that is a new venture between Pierpaolo Lazzarini and Jet Capsule, a company that specializes in making watercraft. For now 3D renders show some classic cars and shapes like the VW Camper Van seen here
  • A classic E-Type Jag with a retractable hood, under which lies a bed, to bask in the sunlight while on your excursion out on the riviera
  • They have also worked their magic on the aggressive looking Lambo Countach
  • If you thought it was just European cars that they were considering on this new project, then think again. Here is a mock-up of a 70's Charger with twin outboard motors. Just imagine you the motors sourced from a Jet Boat, that would make it a muscle boat
  • They haven't spared the pickup truck either. The bed serves up as, quite literally, a bed to lounge in. Reminds me of the ToyBota, that's made a couple of appearances on Top Gear, with the famous film where the trio, cross the English channel to France
  • These vehicles can be built out either as a Hydrofoil
  • Or a Catamaran, like this classic 550 Spyder, based on the classic Porsche. Did you catch Stig at the wheel?
  • Don't see one of your favorite classics here? Well, Floating Motors will happily build you one on request of course
  • In what settings would such vehicles make sense though?
  • Well obviously, they make perfect sense as a leisure vehicle and can be easily used on short excursions. Just imagine hailing one of these as a Water Taxi in Venice
  • Customers will have a range of powertrains to choose from
  • They can either have a traditional outboard motor or an electric motor, in keeping with the times, with power outputs ranging between 20 hp and 350 hp
  • If all goes to plan, you'll soon get to see these floating beauties out at soon. The company is now trying to raise money with the backers getting tokens in the form of Floating Motor's very own Crypto currency
  • And in due course, the company will debut their very first model dubbed the "La Dolce" that will be based on the Fiat 500. Watch this space. Swipe Up to Read More.

The goal of Floating Motors is simple. It is to put vintage cars, or rather vintage shapes, in the water. Pierpaolo Lazzarini, who is a well-known Italian designer, aims to resurrect leftover floats and transform some of the most iconic cars of all time into boats. His future customer has a number of alternatives for how this can be implemented.

At first glance, Lazzarini’s creation appears to be a little out of date. On closer study though, you realize that these famous shapes of a bygone era could create special experiences. After all, what the design firm has in mind for its new venture is still only a concept. Although computer-generated graphics and animations of Floating Motors have previously been created, there is no prototype as of yet.

Iconic Shapes their way into the water, thanks to Floating Motors

If everything goes to plan, you will most likely get a chance to see some truly spectacular shapes inspired by classic cars hitting the water. Some of them include the likes of a Porsche 550 Spyder, a Fiat 500, a Jaguar E-Type, a VW Camper van, a Morris Mini, a Mercedes 300 SL with Gullwing doors, a Ferrari 208, Lamborghini Countach complete with scissor doors, and last but not the least, a Dodge Charger. Yeah, you heard that right, a Muscle boat.

Floating Motors that hails from Italy have come up with a truly unique idea of transforming some truly iconic shapes from the automotive world into boats

Have a favorite classic, that you don’t see here? Floating Motors are happy to build one for you on request of course. If the Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini’s vision becomes a reality, these stunning water bourne vessels might soon make it to production and will be seen in riviera’s around the world. However, no one needs to be concerned that their historic car may wind up in the water because the startup intends to make carbon or fiberglass copies.

What’ll power these beauties?

Customers will have a range of powertrains to choose from

These floating motors are constructed on floating bases. In this case, a customer might also choose between a hydrofoilor a catamaran. It’s also worth noting that the propulsion system will have a variety of options. A potential customer can choose between the option of having a traditional outboard motor or an electric motor instead. The power output that these powertrains might produce ranges anywhere between 20 and 350 horsepower.

Where else can we see these car-boats being used?

In what settings would such vehicles make sense though?

It’s a no-brainer that most of these boats will predominantly be used as leisure vehicles. However, Floating Motors also see them being used for other applications which can be made possible with some mods of course. They can be used as Water shuttles for moving people or cargo, water taxis, and can certainly be used as extensions for boat owners. How about using these vehicles as a distinctive highlight as part of a package at a Luxury Hotel, or for excursions?

Or a Catamaran, like this classic 550 Spyder, based on the classic Porsche. Did you catch Stig at the wheel?

The stated areas of application above, are by no means exhaustive, and the sky is pretty much the limit with what is possible with these floating cars. Firstly, the company now intends to raise money through a crowdfunding campaign on its website. Backers will also receive tokens of the in-house Floating Motors cryptocurrency. For now, though all we know is that, as soon as the finance for Floating Motors is completed, a tiny first edition model dubbed the "La Dolce" will be underway based on a classic Fiat 500.
