2022 Maserati MC20 Convertible Teased Ahead Of Official Unveil

The MC20 Convertible will be the Italian Automakers first mid-engined Roadster in 16 years, following in the footsteps of the bonkers MC12 Spyder

Feast your eyes, everyone, on what will be Maserati's first mid-engined roadster in nearly 16 long years

Its predecessor of course is the bonkers Maserati MC12 from 2005, which was nothing short of a track weapon for the road

Sitting here in front of the Maserati plant in Modena, the upcoming open-top flagship is rocking some really cool camouflage in the form of the a new cloud livery, which probably signifies opening up the skies

At first glance, it looks like the convertible will retain most of the sheet metal of the coupe. Expect to find a folding hardtop roof, as is the norm with most high-end super exotics these days

Now when you chop off the roof, designers and engineers have to come up with a way to retain the handling dynamics and the lines of the vehicle

This is where materials like carbon fiber and composite materials come into play, helping to keep weight down. The coupe weighs in at 3252 pounds

If all the structural changes made to the convertible are anywhere near that 3k lbs figure, you should probably be able to have the same 200+ mph top speed, thanks to the glorious Nettuno twin-turbo V-6 that churns out 621 horses

While the howl is certainly that of an Italian exotic, I just wish the design was a bit more flamboyant and dramatic, an aspect that most people associate with a thoroughbred Italian Supercar. But hey, design is totally subjective

You know that the MC20 is a big deal when you got big wigs like David Beckham signing up to get one. Maserati still hasn't revealed the official name for the convertible, but we'll know soon. So watch this space. Swipe Up to watch Beckham take the MC20 f
