This is how you turn an exclusive supercar into an even more exclusive supercar

When you tout a car as “the most extreme” of something, there usually aren’t many ways to make improvements on such a model. But Lamborghini is Lamborghini for a reason. The Italian automaker, with the help of its Centro Stile design division and Ad Personam customization division, managed to turn a model that’s already exclusive to 63 units into something more exclusive. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster, and it is a showstopper. To be clear, the Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster isn’t a special edition within a special edition. It’s a visual interpretation of what any of the 63 Aventador SVJ Roadster models could look like with the proper exclusive touches from Centro Stile and Ad Personam. Since all 63 units of the Aventador SVJ Roadster are already accounted for, the showcase model that Lamborghini unveiled at Pebble Beach is nothing more than a 759-horsepower press release on four wheels. Still, it’s hard to take your eyes away from the Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster. At the very least, it makes you wonder what other personalized options are out there for this exclusive piece of hardware.

From every angle imaginable, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster looks like a super-angry, futuristic performance car wearing a Raging Bull badge.

You can look at it from any side you choose, and the results remain the same. It is, without question, the most aggressive production Lamborghini ever created. It’s dripping in aero devices, most of which are tucked under its sharp body. Whether it’s the redesigned underbody sports vortex generators or the massive front splitter and rear diffuser, the Aventador SVJ Roadster was created for one specific purpose: peak performance.

Looking at it makes you wonder, though. With the Aventador SVJ Roadster already looking like a performance fiend crafted from the depths of hell, is there still room for improvement with this thing, and if so, where’s Lamborghini going to find this room? The answer, of course, rests in the hands of Lamborghini’s Centro Stile design division and Ad Personam customization division. It’s through these two departments that the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster comes to life.

It’s basically a fancy shade of light gray that’s offset by an Orange Arancio Dac finish that Lamborghini’s Ad Personam division applied on the trim and decals of the supercar, including the “SVJ” and “63” logos, the latter of which refers to the number of available units of the Aventador SVJ Roadster. A fancy set of Matte Titanium Leirion forged wheels complete the exterior treatment of the show car. It’s a fancy interpretation, for sure, but Lambo’s Ad Personam division isn’t limited to this two-color setup. There are eight exterior themes that prospective owners of the Aventador SVJ Roadster can choose from, most of which have yet to be revealed.

Whatever the case is, you can bet that Lamborghini’s Ad Personam division has a few surprises up its sleeve for the limited bunch who managed to score a unit of the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster.

More than the exterior, the interior of a Lamborghini is the domain of Ad Personam. This is where the personalization division earns its name, and by the looks of it, Ad Personam did its homework on the Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster.

Prospective owners of the Aventador SVJ Roadster can choose from three different themes in the SVJ Roadster’s usual materials of Alcantara and CarbonSkin.

The latter is a patented technology from Lamborghini so, off the bat, you know that no other car in the world will come with this lightweight material.

The show car, in particular, uses Grigio Octans and Grigio Cronus Alcantara on most of the Aventador SVJ Roadster’s interior surface. The two-tone look is a bit dreary on its own so Ad Personam added Arancio Dryope leather trim to liven up the joint. Adding more personality into the mix is the white Q-Citura cross-stitching on the carbon fiber seats. Certain sections of the supercar’s interior also received exclusive touches. That includes the steering wheel, which comes with a badge that announced the car’s “limited edition status. Meanwhile, a “63” logo can be found on the car’s back wall in CarbonSkin and layered Alcantara. The overall treatment is what you’d expect from Ad Personam. It has an identity and it offers a canvas from which Lambo’s personalization division can work on.

All of the juicy bits that Ad Personam added come from the division’s personal touch. The rest of the interior features come standard to all 63 units of the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster.

The instrument cluster, for example, comes with a carbon fiber hood. The lightweight material is also present in the door panels, and, in case you’re wondering, this super-limited version of the Lamborghini Aventador also comes will pull loops in favor of actual door handles. It’s not a particularly elegant trade-off, but it is no less important in cutting some weight off the car

Together with its coupé counterpart, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster is the most extreme Aventador that Lamborghini has created. That’s largely due to all the updates Lambo put into the supercar’s powertrain. Those updates include, among other things, new intervals, a titanium intake valve, and a modified intake cylinder head duct that provides all-around improvements on the Aventador SVJ Roadster’s 6.5-liter V-12 engine.

Put them all together and that V-12 unit can produce a staggering 759 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque.

For what it’s worth, the standard Aventador carries the same 6.5-liter V-12 engine, but without these upgrades, it can only produce 690 horsepower. The Aventador S, on the other hand, comes with a V-12 that’s tuned to produce 730 horsepower while the Aventador SV’s V-12 engine can spit out 740 horsepower. The Aventador SVJ Roadster stands the tallest in the entire Lamborghini Aventador lineup, and its place in the pecking order isn’t going to change anytime soon, maybe ever.

It’s not just about updated engines and higher power figures. The Aventador SVJ Roadster also benefited from a dietary regimen that allowed it to shed somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 pounds. It should be a tad heavier than the 3,362-pound Aventador SVJ Coupe, but make no mistake, the SVJ Roadster is lighter than any other version of the Aventador in the market today.

All told, the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster should be able to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds, making it 0.1 seconds slower than its coupé counterpart, but around 0.1 seconds quicker than the Aventador SV. It’s also capable of posting a top speed of around 215 mph, only two mph slower than the 217-mph top speed of the coupé version.

Even without taking into account the body type, the Aventador SVJ is considered the fastest and most powerful version of the Aventador for a reason.

It already laid waste to the lap record for production cars on the Nurburgring, clocking in a scintillating time of 6:44.97, destroying the previous record held by the Porsche 911 GT2 RS by an incredible two-and-a-half-minutes. Even if the Aventador SVJ Roadster isn’t as fast as its coupé counterpart, don’t mistake it for a slouch. It could make mincemeat of the 911 GT2 RS’ Nürburgring time, too.

I love the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster. I love what it stands for. I love what it represents. I love that even in its current form as the fastest and most powerful Aventador in the world, there are still ways to improve upon it to suit a particular owner’s taste and preference. This is what Lamborghini showcased at Pebble Beach. Sure, the car itself was spoken for already, as are all other versions of the Aventador SVJ Roadster. There’s no benefit to its appearance at Pebble Beach other than to show everyone what they already missed out on. But take envy out of the equation and it’s hard not to be impressed by the Aventador SVJ 63 Roadster. It shows how the amount of style and character the special edition model can carry with the right inflect from Centro Stile and Ad Personam. More importantly, it shows that even with all the superlatives attached to the Aventador SVJ Roadster, there are still ways to make it better. Not many automakers are capable of pulling that off, but, as it has proven time and time again, Lamborghini is not your typical automaker, either.
